HarmonyOS is the latest innovation by Huawei but this time the company invested heavily to develop an operating system rather than working on its mobile hardware. The operating system is meant to replace Android, the most popular OS for mobile phones right now. Now the brand is working on the rollout of its new software to about 300 million devices this year.

According to a CNTechPost report, the Chinese tech giant is currently working to get beyond the limitations enforced by the Trump administration in the name of national security. Indeed, this was a difficult challenge but instead of staying behind, the company decided to make its version of the operating system.

According to the vice chairman of Huawei, Huawei is seeking to introduce HarmonyOs to 100 million additional devices this year. Another executive had revealed that around 20 hardware vendors and 280 application software companies have already contacted them to use its new operating system.

Wang Chenglu, president of Huawei's consumer business software division, has announced that the company is targeting about 300 million devices to be powered by HarmonyOS. Out of these 300 million devices, almost 100 million devices will run HarmonyOS out of the box. Meaning the company is planning to launch new products that will ship with HarmonyOS.

For those unaware, HarmonyOS is a built-in software with cross platform integration in mind. In other words, the software isn't limited to just smartphones and TV and may be able to unify different devices. It's more like a universal OS. Huawei has already launched the beta version of the OS for certain smartphones models.
