Oppo has recently sent invites to media for the media briefing about the phone. The phone is confirmed to feature a four-camera system with a 48MP ultra-wide camera sensor. The company has also revealed that the phone will pack an 8GB RAM, and has 128GB storage. The camera will have other features like ultra-night-mode for the night photography and video stabilization feature.

The company revealed about its quad-camera setup with a 48-MP primary sensor via a tweet one day before its launch. It also stated the detail about its storage, memory, and ultra-night-mode. The phone will be available in four colors - white, blue, purple, and black. For security, it has an extra security layer of the fingerprint sensor at the backside just underneath the quad-camera. The Oppo A9 has three sensors aligned vertically, and another small sensor positioned at the side beneath the flashlight.

There will be a waterdrop notch to hold the 16-megapixel front camera for the selfie, similar to its predecessor. The smartphone will be powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC processing chip. The predecessor Oppo A9 was powered by the MediaTek Helio P70 SoC coupled with half the amount of RAM, and just dual rear cameras. The phone belongs to the budget-friendly mobile category. It will have a .5-inch LCD with a resolution of 1,600x720. The smartphone's sale comes at a time when smartphone shipments in India through online channels have started increasing. Sales increased by 26% in April to June quarter of 2019. Counterpoint's market report suggested. Oppo's sub-brand Realme held 17% of the share.
