Samsung Begins to Roll Out Android Nougat 7.0 for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge

9 March, 2017 Samsung Updates

It is now official; the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones are now receiving Android Nougat 7.0 in Europe. The news comes in roughly when it was expected to, so kudos to Samsung for maintaining the schedule (more or less!). Also, we must thank The Android Soul for bringing forth the news, along with screenshots.

The S6 is getting Nougat 7.0 with the firmware version G920FXXU5EQBG, in a 1.4GB OTA file. The S6 Edge is also receiving a 1.4GB file with the same OS upgrade, but with the firmware version G925FXXU5EQBG. Remember that depending on the country, the firmware version may differ slightly. Carrier versions in the region have not started receiving Nougat yet though.

According to reports, the updates include almost all the improvements we saw on the S7 and S7 Edge builds, with the exception of the Performance mode and the option to change display resolutions like a Windows device. Then again, we were not expecting those features to make it to the S6 and S6 Edge anyway.
