Samsung Galaxy S IV rumored to support wireless charging

17 January, 2013 Samsung

A popular Korean Media site called DDaily claims that the Galaxy S4 will support wireless charging, the type with back cover with wireless charging support and its charging dock we have seem before, both will be sold separately.

DDaily also reported that Samsung considered using an alternative, more advanced wireless charging technology known as resonant magnetic coupling. That, in theory, would allow the Samsung Galaxy S IV to be charged from a distance of up to around 2 meters, so you wouldn't have to put the Galaxy S IV on top of a Wireless Charging dock.

The current specs rumored for Samsung Galaxy S4 features an Exynos 5 Octa (8-Core) CPU, Mali-T658 (8-Core) GPU, 4.99″ SuperAMOLED Full HD Resolution Display, 2GB of RAM, 13 Megapixel Rear facing Camera capable of shooting 1080p Full HD Videos at 30FPS, 2 Megapixel front facing camera capable of shooting 720p HD Videos and run Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean directly from the retail box.

If rumors are to be trusted, the Samsung Galaxy S IV is to be announced within a few months, with an appearance at MWC next month still not being out of the question. However, the smartphone isn't likely to be commercially available earlier than May 2013 according to mutiple sources.
