When we check out the front of the candybar, we can see that the device has a high Samsung Pixon proportion. The device is about the same size, at least it looks like that, and also a touchscreen. Almost all touchscreens look like this of course, but it is not very innovative.

The new unknown device will be equipped with all possibilities that we expect of a high-end device: good camera, musicplayer, internet and of course calling and sending messages. The device will be equipped with a renewed version of Samsung's Touch UI. This interface clearly got a little more mature and it received neater symbols. What the other changes will be is unknown for now.

The camera may be the most important thing on this device, this will probably be the first one with an eight megapixel camera and Xenon flash. The camera lens is automatically opened as soon as the camera is started via the menu or the quick key at the side of the device. Internet support will probably consist of UMTS, HSDPA and WiFi support.

The device will soon come to the Korean market with the name Samsung SCH S740 and nickname "Haptic 3". Whether the device will also come to Europe is unknown at this point, certainty about the specifications is also something that cannot be given. We might see the device again at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

China Mobile, the world's largest wireless carrier, plans to launch a 3G handset built on the Android platform in the first quarter, a source with direct knowledge of the issue said on Friday.

The handset, named "OPhone", will be the first phone in China that features Google's (GOOG.O) Android operating system and will use China's homegrown third-generation mobile network, the source said.

Lenovo Mobile, a former mobile phone unit of Lenovo Group (0992.HK), is the maker of the phone, said the source who requested anonymity ahead of the product's official release.

"The product is in the final testing stage at the moment," the source said.

A spokesman from China Mobile in Beijing declined to comment.

China Mobile acquired a licence to develop TD-SCDMA networks on Wednesday when Beijing handed out long-awaited 3G licences to its three state-run carriers. [ID:nL7330594]

TD-SCDMA technology, which is domestically developed and heavily backed by Beijing, has seen slow progress since China Mobile started test trials last year. The lack of handsets is one of the major obstacles.

So far, there are only dozens of TD-SCDMA handsets available. Most of them are domestically made, with a small portion carrying international brands, such as Motorola (MOT.N), Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) and LG Electronics (066570.KS).

Helio Ocean 2, the handset that's been in the rumor mill since the spring of 2007, could be finally released this quarter.

You probably already know that, following the Virgin Mobile acquisition, Helio is now known as Helio by Virgin Mobile. In consequence, the Ocean 2 will come out under this brand.

Silicon Alley Insider says that, according to a Virgin Mobile rep, the new Ocean might go on sale starting February.

Like the first-generation Ocean, Helio Ocean 2 will have a QWERTY and an alphanumeric keyboard. Apart from that, it's said that the handset also sports a QVGA display, 3G connectivity, full HTML browser and external memory slot.

The W715 is a compact slider with a metal finish. It features a TrackID application to recognize unknown music tracks, SensMe to match the music to the mood, and Shake Control to change songs with the flick of a wrist. The W715 also has the same excellent sound quality as the W980, rated 'best audio experience' in independent tests.

It has a built-in 3.2-megapixel camera to capture photos and Wi-Fi connectivity to upload them to social networking sites.

"With fully integrated GPS and Vodafone Find&Go, this phone is offering a very attractive feature set in a combination we know customers are asking for more and more," said Patrick Chomet, Global Director of Terminals at Vodafone.

The Vodafone exclusive Sony Ericsson W715 will be available in Galactic Black, and Luxury Silver. Country availability will be announced later.
