LG fantasy

LG has been quiet on the Windows Phone front this year. The fantasy is hardly a new product as it is entirely based on the Optimus 7 from a year ago.

It appears however, that the company has a brand new device in the works. A member of XDA Developers has obtained a pre-production unit of a yet to be announced, Windows Phone 7.5 Mango sporting.

We know practically nothing about the specs of the smartphone, save for the fact that its sports a 4-inchs IPS screen, and Microsoft latest mobile OS on board.

Fans of LG smartphones, mark December 1, 2011 on your calendar. Because that is the day LG will be announcing a new smartphone, and it is rumored it will be the Nitro HD.

The image above is the press release the LG sent out for the event. As you can see there is no information regarding the device to be announced other than the fact that it will be an exclusive launch event.

The image source mentions that the image was actually named LG Nitro, which is enough proof that this will in fact be about the Nitro HD. LG Optimus 3d

Earlier this month LG was all set to start rolling out Android 2.3 Gingerbread for the LG Optimus 3D full of enhancements and 3D specific improvements. That update was started yesterday on 21st and should be hitting Optimus 3D handsets everywhere right now and all week.

According to many users that are finally starting to get the update over on XDA Developers the update does not actually seem all that different. The announcement from LG said the device would see some major enhancements to 3D but so far we are not hearing about anything too special.

LG

VoilaLG has officially announced Optimus LTE for Canadian Bell. Needless to say, LG superphone will get a prominent place in the carrier's portfolio as the flagship LTE-enabled smartphone.

This device is the best Android smartphone ever made, even better than the Google Nexus Galaxy for a four reasons:

  • It has a better screen - 4.5-inch 1280×720 pixels True HD IPS, which is the best phone display evar
  • It has an 8-megapixel camera - while the one Galaxy Nexus has counts "just" 5 megapixels

LG Update

We already anounced before that the LG Optimus 3D will get the Gingerbread update later this month. What we have not said is that it will bring some other goodies aside from the latest available version of Google mobile OS.

The forthcoming update will be based on Android 2.3.5, and will also include such enhancements as 2D and 3D video editing, 3D to 2D conversion and higher bit-rates for 3D videos. Oh this LG Ice Cream Sandwich story just keeps getting better and better and this time, we really do mean the story is getting better. As of early this morning LG Mobile has taken to their official Facebook page and attempted to end the Ice Cream Sandwich update rumors for the Optimus 2X.

LG Optimus

"LG is currently in the process of planning the ICS OS update for the LG Optimus 2X as well as other LG high-end smartphones. Detailed information on the ICS OS update schedule for specific models will be announced, once the ICS OS is publicly released by Google."

There you have it, not only will the Optimus 2X receive the Ice Cream Sandwich update, so will "other LG high-end smartphones."
Given the close relationship between the Optimus 2X and its Americanized counterpart, the G2x, we continue to hope that LG will provide T-Mobile users with the Ice Cream Sandwich update.

LG

Photos above is related of an upcoming LG smartphone. The device will reportedly be called LG Optimus U1 and will be the company first handset to run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

As you probably know, the LG-owned telecom in Korea was recently renamed to U+ and U1 seems like a proper name for a smartphone that will be launched on it. Or it could all be a product of our wild imagination.

This one is surely much tougher to get over than in the case of Google Nexus One, folks. After all, the latter is almost two years old now. It appears that LG Optimus 2X officially the first smartphone to feature a dual-core CPU, will not be getting an official update to Google latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Here is what LG responded to a question regarding the Optimus 2X update in its official Facebook page:

"Dear Anant, We will not be introducing Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich updates on LG Optimus 2X P990. Keep watching this space for further updates."

You may have noticed that recently unveiled LG Optimus LTE comes with an 4.5-inch True HD IPS display with 1280 by 720 pixels (16:9 with 329 ppi) HD resolution. The Korean company thinks they have the best screen technology in the industry, the fact thats been confirmed by international product testing and certification agency Intertek. Apparently, True HD IPS displays perform better than AMOLED in areas of color accuracy, brightness, battery efficiency and performance. in case you wonder they included Samsung Super AMOLED Plus in the analysis as well and LG screen topped the chart.

Anyway, we like how it sounds and can only hope the Optimus LTE will be exported from the shores of the Korean peninsula sooner rather than later. Aside from packing such a powerful display, the Optimus LTE also comes with a dual-core 1.5Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM, Wi-Fi connectivity, 8-megapixel camera on the back, front-facing camera, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS and so on.

LG Optimus 3D

Its version is V10K and is intended for all unlocked devices in the Europe Open region. The update does not update your Android version up to Gingerbread, but brings the promised 2D to 3D conversion feature for games.

If you have already played all the 3D games available for the Optimus 3D, now you can automatically switch your standard 2D games into 3D.

LG Optimus EX

LG has just officially unveiled its Korea-bound Optimus EX smartphone. We first met with the Android-running handset last week, when we got an official photo and detailed specs ahead of teh launch, so there are no surprises now.

The LG Optimus EX runs on Gingerbread and relies on a Tegra 2 chipset with a 1.2 GHz dual-core CPU and 1GB of RAM to do the math. The 4-inch WVGA screen on top will be of the NOVA variety, which promises one of the highest brightness levels on the market.

At the back there is a 5 megapixel camera that does 1080p video recording, while on the front is a VGA camera for video-chatting. The included storage is relatively modest at 8GB, but the microSD slot lets you expand that as much as you like.

Street Fighter is coming to Android, thanks to a collaboration between LG and CAPCOM. LG CEO took the time to "HD" four times in four sentences, underlining "HD smartphone".

Street Fighter IV will come to Android in the last quarter of this year and be exclusive to the LG own app store (LG World) for the first three months of its droid existence. There was no mention of its pricing. Street Fighter IV is already available on iOS ($4.99), so the game coming to another mobile platform isn’t all that interesting.

Whats interesting is that LG CEO kept talking about HD and HD smartphones maybe we will see improved graphics over the iOS version and, more interestingly, see the game debut on a brand new smartphone.

LG has announced another Android based Optimus smartphone. The Optimus LU2300 Q2, as it is called, has a full QWERTY sliding keypad below the display. This is the same phone we wrote about a couple of weeks ago but back then it was known as the Optimus Note. We are guessing LG had to drop Note as a name for their phone because Samsung managed to reserve it before them.

Other features include a 4-inch WVGA IPS display with 700 nits of brightness, a dual-core 1.2GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, a 5 megapixel camera on the back and a VGA camera on the front. The phone will be just 12.3mm thick and weigh 147g.
