LG

LG has not officially introduced the LG Univa E510, which is supposedly the Optimus Two, but the smartphone has surfaced yet again, starring in a quick hands-on. The hands-on confirms most of the specs of the Optimus One successor, including that it runs Android Gingerbread (v2.3.4).

LG

Its powered by a Qualcomm chipset with an 800MHz CPU, 512MB RAM and Adreno 200 graphics. Unfortunately the CPU uses ARMv6 architecture (just like the Optimus One processor), which means no support for the Flash plugin, the Android version of Firefox and other apps that require ARMv7 processors.

The screen of the Univa E510 measures 3.5" and has HVGA resolution. That makes it bigger than both the Optimus One and the Optimus Net screens. The camera is a 5MP snapper, again better than what the One and the Net have to offer. Screen and camera aside, the Univa and Optimus Net look pretty close though.

Nearly everyone at the time was aware of the arduous birth of the white iPhone 4 but making such top products whiter than white is anything but exclusive to the likes of Apple. Other top-end smartphones which have more recently been able to parade around in a white lick of paint include the Android powered Samsung Galaxy S II and the LG Optimus White.

It now appears to be the LG Optimus 3D turn to don the white however, as shots have cropped up from the back rooms of UK mobile retailer Phones 4u alongside its darker, more traditional twin.

Both white and black Optimus 3D models are available right now from the Phone 4u website, however the white is only available on Orange, O2 and Vodafone, whereas the classic black 3D is also available on T-Mobile as well. This might change down the line but as it stands, there's no sign of the white stuff heading for the magenta "T".

gsmarena 001 LGs yet to be launched 4.5 AH IPS mobile display scores an award by outclassing Samsung Galaxy SIIs Super AMOLED unit

It is well known to everyone these days, that the Samsung made Super AMOLED screens are the standard to beat in the mobile industry. LG surely thinks so. The Korean company yet to be launched AH-IPS display for mobile devices, just received the prestigious Quality & Performance Mark from Intertek a global testing and certification company. What particularly important about this award for LG, is that it has been achieved by comparing its display with no other but Samsung Galaxy SII Super AMOLED screen.

Now on with some numbers. The award winning AH-IPS display from LG measures 4.5-inch and has HD(720×1280 pixels) resolution with 329ppi. Samsung Galaxu SII Super AMOLED unit on the other hand, measures 4.3-inch and settles for WVGA (480×800 pixels) resolution and 217ppi.

All in all, the LG unit trumped the Samsung made screen in color accuracy and power consumption by a significant margin. In the color accuracy test, the LG display scored a rating of 0.012, compared with 0.037 for the Super AMOLED from Samsung. Here, it is important to note that the lower the color accuracy value is, the smaller the gap between original and reproduced color.

In the power consumption test, the AH-IPS screen was found to consume a constant level of power, measured at 624mW, compared to 1130mW of the Super AMOLED, while boasting 600 nits of brightness. In plain words, the LG screen is significantly more power efficient than its competitor.

The LG Optimus Sol that we saw yesterday has been promoted to official status. The Optimus Sol comes with LG’new 3.8-inch, 800 x 480 resolution, 'Ultra AMOLED' display, which according to LG has a two-fold advanced reflection rate compared to standard AMOLED displays, which gives it better clarity outdoors and lower image quality degradation.

The LG Optimus Sol also has a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8225 Snapdragon processor, 512MB RAM, 2GB of ROM, expandable memory with 2GB microSD card included, 5 megapixel auto-focus camera on the back and VGA camera on the front, quad-band GSM and dual band 3G network support, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, A-GPS, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct and a 1,500mAh battery with a new power management system which according to LG gives the Optimus Sol 20-30 percent boost in battery life. All this in a 9.8mm thick body.

The LG OTA updates app and remote assistance services got their debut in Korea and now LG is making it clear it will offer the same services widely to Europe, the Asia Pacific region and South and Central America throughout the second half of the year to its premium line of Optimus smartphones the Black, 2X and 3D.

First off, customers will get the FOTA app "firmware over-the-air" so they can get the most current updates for their phones wirelessly. This way LG Optimus owners will get software updates directly to their phones without the need to connect to a PC.

The remote call service will be region and operator-dependent and will connect users to a member of customer service through 3G or Wi-Fi, should a problem occur with their phones. Thus users will not have the need to necessarily visit an LG Customer Information Center or a service-station. This will be done through the pre-loaded "Remote Call" application.

LG Opt 3D

Good news if yo areliving or working in the UK and looking to grab yourself the LG Optimus 3D from Orange. As you may know, LG baby is already available from The Carphone Warehouse and comes pre-loaded with few specially optimized 3D games from Gameloft, but if you want it with an Orange contract you will soon be able to do that, too. The France Telecom-owned operator now lists the world first 3D-enabled Android smartphone on its "coming soon" pages, without specifying the exact release date.

The good news is that Orange says the Optimus 3D will be available "from free" which in this case means putting your signature on a two-year 35 GBP a month contract. Of course, that money will also get you tons of minutes and messages, along with a decent chunk of mobile data to be used every month.

We have some good news and some bad news for the LG Optimus 3D owners out there. The sad bit is that their beloved smartphone won't be getting the Android 2.3 Gingerbread treatment for at least a few more months. On the positive side, the wait might just be worth it as it will improve the 3D capabilities of the device quite significantly.

The Inquirer reports that they managed to get some of the LG tech gurus to talk about the Optimus 3D Android 2.3 update release date and they said it will be coming in October. That might seem like a pretty long wait as by that time 10 months will have passed since the launch of Android Gingerbread, but there will be something to make up for it.

The LG Optimus 3D will be getting the usual bunch of features brought by Android 2.3 Gingerbread plus one key addition it will be able to convert regular 2D application to 3D as long as the app relies on OpenGL for its graphics. So if you have always dreamt of adding an extra dimension to your favorite games or apps this might be your chance.

The rumor mill just produced this the LG Optimus Pro C660. Its a droid with a portrait QWERTY, with specs roughly similar to the Optimus One and at a bargain price too. The form factor is fairly rare but has been gaining some traction with the likes of the HTC ChaCha and the Motorola Pro.

The LG Optimus Pro C660 has a 2.8" screen with an unknown resolution and a portrait four-row QWERTY keyboard below it. The screen aspect ratio is 4:3, so QVGA resolution sounds likely we doubt it will be a VGA screen for this kind of cash.

LG

The Optimus Pro reportedly runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread on a 800MHz CPU with 512MB RAM. It packs a 3MP camera, HSDPA connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and an 1500mAh battery al last-year entry stuff. Supposedly, there is 150MB app storage but there is no info on any preinstalled microSD cards.

LG Optimus Black launches in white version, but you have to admit you cannot call a white phone Black. So LG came up with a new name for the white model LG Optimus White Edition and it is already available in the Netherlands.

The LG Optimus White edition is virtually the same as its Optimus Black sibling save for the panel colors. If you live in the Netherlands, you can get it for free with a contract on carrier Sizz right now.

So here is (a part of) the explanation why the Optimus 3D launch was delayed a bit. Apparently the company engineers have been doing some last-minute improvements to the 3D-loving smartphone camera.

One of our readers in the UK contacted us, saying that his newly purchased LG Optimus 3D actually records 1080p videos at 30 fps, rather than the previously announced 24 fps. He also supplied us with the raw video footage to analyze it ourselves and the footage was genuine 30 frames, no duplicates whatsoever.

Since our preview test unit was also only capable of recording 24 fps videos, the upgrade must have been finalized in some of the past few weeks.

What we find rather strange is the fact that LG missed the opportunity to brag about their achievement. Its not usual for large companies like that to introduce updates, without making some noise about it.

The LG Optimus 3D has just started selling in the UK and along with it are coming some exclusive 3D games for it, courtesy of Gameloft.

You will now be able to play popular titles such as Asphalt 6, N.O.V.A. 2 and Lets Golf 2 in all their three dimensional glory on the Optimus 3D glasses-free 3D display. And thats not all, there are 14 more games coming your way later on, with titles such as Spider-Man and Assassin Creed. Gameloft is also offering a special 50% discount to Optimus 3D owners for the first three months, if you download through the special store on the phone.

At the end of the day though, 3D is still considered a gimmick by most people and it remains to be seen if manufacturers are able to get customer attention with such offers.

Some observant users have stumbled upon the official LG XML profile of an unannounced Windows Phone 7 device - the E906. This is most probably an E900 Optimus 7 refresh with Windows Phone 7 Mango.

The XML profile of E906 is almost the same as the one of the E900 Optimus 7, but there are two differences - the model number and the browser version (E900 has IE7, while E906 is with IE9).

Judging by the very small difference in the model names and the XML files we believe it is highly possible the E906 will be just an Optimus 7 refresh running on the latest Windows Phone 7 Mango update.

LG Optimus

The name of the device is LG Optimus Black and its available in white. it sounds confusing but thats the way it is. And to make everything even more confusing, the same device will be available in pink, though we don’t know when.

Anyway, British phone retailers Phones4U is allowing anyone to pre-order the white LG Optimus Black, with the shipping date set at July 15th. Interested users can choose between a number of plans starting at 20 GBP a month from Vodafone, Orange and O2.

Those of you who do not remember, LG baby is one sexy and slim smartphone, rocking a 4-inch WVGA Nova display, 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording capability on the back, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, memory card slot, while a single-core 1GHz CPU is providing all the power needed to make things run smoothly.

After announcing it months back in January, LG has finally launched the Optimus 3D, their first 3D Android handset and what LG calls the world’s first tri-dual architecture smartphone.

The Optimus 3D uses dual-core processor, dual-channel memory and dual memory, which gives it the aforementioned title. The dual-core part has become common now among most new high-end smartphones but the Optimus 3D is the fist to use dual channel and hence dual memory, which LG thinks makes it better and we must say we agree with them. Dual channel memory is indeed better and will definitely produce noticeable improvement in performance in certain applications.

Another feather in Optimus 3D cap is the 4.3-inch WVGA 3D display that does not require any kind of glasses. The phone can also record 1080p videos at 24fps and 720p videos at 30fps, all in 3D through the dual 5 megapixel lenses on the back. The Optimus 3D runs on a dual-core 1GHz TI OMAP4430 processor with Cortex A9 CPU and PowerVR SGX540 GPU. It has 512MB RAM (2 x 256MB) and 8GB internal memory, which can be extended via microSD cards. Unfortunately, just like the Optimus 2x, the Optimus 3D is running on Android 2.2 Froyo.

LG Dual-screen

For the last few years mobile innovation of the conventional form factor and layout of a phone has not changed very much, but today a new LG device will change that up a bit. LG fitted a color display between a split QWERTY keyboard, which hosts quick launch shortcuts to Android applications. The top screen looks like the usual 3.8-inch WVGA display we see on a lot of QWERTY devices that run Android, but again, details on this phone are very limited at this point.

LG

This phone was seen playing hide and seek amongst other mobile devices at a UK event held by Orange. The T-Mobile logo in the front makes me question why this was not at a T-Mobile event, obviously this one is a party crasher.

Now the bearer of this device is a company called Kineto Wireless and they came with more than just this bad boy. They had other unannounced devices and apparently they are all destined for the US market. They called this phone the Flip II, which is weird because I have never heard of a Flip I and this does not even flip. We are not here to question LG name choice, but this looks like a solid device for multi-taskers that need a quicker way to switch between their applications.

A new LG teaser pic shows a mysterious Optimus device the same as the recently leaked photo of the next Google Nexus. The best part is this info reportedly comes from an LG employee from the Indonesian branch and should be reliable. Remember the leaked Nexus 3 picture? As the rumor has it, it is supposed to be either LG or HTC built. Today Optimus leak suggests it will be LG.

There is nothing beside those leaked pictures, but we think its a good start. HTC is manufacturer behind the Nexus One, Samsung made the Nexus S and it seems now is LG turn to bring us the Nexus 3.

The picture is posted on a forum by a user that works for LG Indonesia, so this sounds quite reliable. So, LG, its your turn. Lets hope you will not let Google down on this job.

In about a couple of weeks time, the LG Optimus 3D will add another dimension to Androids in the UK. Its available on pre-order on contract with most major carriers and you can sign-up for a SIM-free unit too.

BuyMobilePhones has listed the LG Optimus 3D on their site for pre-order, giving you a choice between T-Mobile UK, Orange, O2 or Vodafone. The cheapest price comes from T-Mobile the phone is free with a £25.54/month 2-year contract.

Vodafone has it for £30/month for 18 months and Orange for £30/mo again but for 24 months. O2 2-year contracts start at £32. There is no info when the Optimus 3D will be available on any of these carriers.

Clove UK is taking pre-orders for the Optimus 3D too they have it SIM-free for £455, which sounds like a decent bargain to us. They expect the first units to arrive 6 June.

Aside from the 4.3-inch glasses-free 3D screen and the stereoscopic 3D Full HD video capture, the Optimus 3D also boasts a 3D-augmented reality browser and has partnered with YouTube for 3D video sharing. The only bad bit is that it will be running Froyo at launch, but we are hoping LG will fix that quickly.

Verizon has just announced the LG Revolution an LTE capable droid running on Android Froyo. The Revolution appears to be a competitor to the HTC Thunderbolt with a 4.3-inch WVGA display, a Snapdragon chipset with a 1GHz processor and Adreno 205 GPU, a 720p-capable camcorder and the LTE support.

LG Revolution also pack a 5 megapixel snapper, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video calls, Wi-Fi N, Bluetooth 3.0, an HDMI port, and a microSD slot with 16GB pre-installed card. Unfortunately the LG Revolution runs on Android 2.2 Froyo, instead of a newer Gingerbread release.

The Revolution will hit the Verizon store tomorrow on $250 price with a two-year contract and at least $60 tariff (talk and data).

LG has made official the US760 Genesis a dual-screen Android smartphone with flipping 5-row QWERTY keyboard. LG US760 Genesis packs a 3.5-inch WVGA external and a 3.2-inch WVGA internal display,Snapdragon QSD8650 chipset with a 1GHz processor, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, standard connectivity package and microSD card slot. The Genesis runs on Android 2.2 Froyo.

LG spilled the beans on the Genesis before the US Cellular announcement. The device has already leaked before both for US Cellular and Verizon (VS761), but its Verizon fate is still uncertain.
