Nokia first Windows Phone 7 device may be coming in Q1 2012 missing the deadline Nokiatop management was hoping for the Nokia World show on October 20th. The information supposedly comes from Nokia Australia branch, which admitted to Wp7r.comthat a WP7 Nokia will not be released until Q1 of next year.

Now this does not exclude the possibility of a 2011 announcement as the new info concerns the actual market release in Australia. We will have to wait to see, but we know for a fact that Nokia has a WP7 prototype already in teh works and it will probably have similar, if not identical, specs to the Meego-flaunting N9.

Those specs include a 1GHz processor single core as WP7 still has not crossed the dual-core line, a 3.9-incher of FWVGA resolution, an 8 MP Carl-Zeiss optics camera with dual-LED flash, NFC and a gig of RAM. Its almost certain too that WP7 Mango will be the OS version of choice.

The Nokia Sea Ray may be expecting company a leaked promo video shows off what is supposedly a Nokia phone powered by Windows Phone 7 and it looks different than the Sea Ray. Of course, it could be fake  or it could be some internal promo video.

Remember the first images of Nokia WP7 phone that turned out to be nothing but mockups? The video shows two models, one of which looks almost exactly like the mockups that leaked originally. The other model however is different from those and from the Sea Ray.

And even if it is from Nokia, we ca not be sure if its an actual device rather than a generic mockup for a promo video. The ending of the clip, which shows a futuristic device that is obviously intended for promo purposes only gives some weight to the second option.

It seems August 17 could be the day we see an official announcement regarding the first Nokia Windows Phone. Microsoft and Nokia are handing out invites to an event being held in Cologne on the said date, which does not go into the specifics of the event although we do have reasons to believe Nokia will be announcing their new handset, particularly one running Windows Phone 7 Mango.

There will also be a raffle at the event, where the winners can get three of the Xbox 360 250GB consoles with Kinect and more importantly, three of the upcoming Nokia Windows Phone handsets as soon as they are available. This makes us even more confident in our assumption that there will in fact be a new Nokia Windows Phone announced that night. They say they will make it an evening to remember.

More rumors on the upcoming Nokia Windos Phone 7 smartphone just came in. The latest bit of online gossip has it that despite the long wait the Nokia W9 might not be as innovative as you would have hoped.

When Stephen Elop went on stage in February to talk about the switch to WP7, he said that the Nokia contribution to the platform will be worth billions, rather than millions. In fact word is Microsoft is going to pay them billions for choosing their mobile platform. But if Nokia contribution is indeed to become so precious, they would need to bring plenty of innovation to the platform and make more people consider switching to it.

However, industry analyst Eldar Murtazin was quoted saying today that none of that will be happening with the Finish company's first WP7 smartphone. Reportedly, it will be packing the same chipset and screen as its competitors and it won't bring anything new on the software side.

The only novel part about the Nokia W9 will be the design. And as the first leaks show the design, too, will be almost identical to that of the MeeGo-powered N9.

Nokia W9

We just got another glimpse of the upcoming first Nokia Windows Phone 7 smartphone. A brief video of the Nokia W9 Sea Ray surfaced, showing its Mango OS in action. The styling similarity to the MeeGo-running N9 is confirmed once again, but the virtual keys rumors were disproved.

Unlike last time, when Stephen Elop himself was to blame for the leak, we cannot identify the demonstrator this time. However, the video is reportedly taking place right next to the smartphone assembly line, so it should be a Nokia employee again. We are not going to speculate on whether Nokia themselves are intentionally releasing those video or if they are genuine leaks, because it hardly matters. Instead, we will just let you enjoy the video.

As you can see the Nokia W9, codenamed Sea Ray, will be coming with the three usual WP7 hardware keys back, menu and search. The controls on the right are a pretty standard affair, too volume rocker, power key and a shutter button. Also, we noticed that the unit has a RTM version of Mango, which should be almost as good as the final deal.
