Facebook

Facebook for Windows Phone 7 just received an update that will allow the app to support Mango, or Windows Phone 7.5, new features. Now that Mango makes the WP7 experience feel a little more complete, it is good to see apps like Facebook a service most of us use with some frequency updated to support Mango live tiles and other integrated features.

"The update brings the software to version 2.2 and ads the ability to pin selected elements of the app, for example the Messages inbox, to your home screen.

The app also now supports toasts and tile notifications for a wide variety of events, including friend requests, messages, being tagged and other features."

Microsoft

Microsoft started rolling out the Mango update back in September they started out slow and promised to get it out to every device that is eligible for the Mango update.

Well today, they have achieved their target and Mango is now available on 100% of the eligible Windows Phone 7 devices around the world. Of course, being made available is different from all the eligible devices actually running Mango but you cannot blame Microsoft for that. They have kept their end of the promise and rolled out the update as fast as they could. Now its up to you to make sure your device is up to date and running the latest version of the software.

Windows phone 7

Windows Phone just recently reached a major milestone with the 7.5 update, commonly known as Mango, by adding multitasking and other big improvements to the OS. Check out what we thought of it here. Anyway, now there are two other major milestones in the works too dual-core CPUs and LTE connectivity.

Andy Lees, head of the Windows Phone division. He thinks they are in a good position to take the role of the third player in the mobile OS world as an alternative to Android and iOS, with Mango helping to boost sales volumes.

As for dual-core CPUs, those are something thats being worked on but Lees did not give a time frame for when they might make it to market. Current top end WP phones run on 1.5GHz single-core CPUs and Lees thinks they will stack up well enough against dual-core smartphones.

HD7s

Its not that often to see carriers slashing the prices of their phones. Quite the contrary, usually its the third-party retailers like Amazon, Walmart and Wirefly that try to compete by cutting their margins to get customers on board. In that sense, today deal is an exception with AT&T offering the HTC HD7S for a single penny.

At the moment I am writing this, the HD7S is still running the original version of the Windows Phone. The Mango update Windows Phone 7.5 is scheduled to be released around the middle of October when you will get all the additional features.
