The camera on the Samsung Galaxy S7 has superfast autofocus

1 March, 2016 Samsung

As experts will frequently tell you, megapixel count on a smartphone camera does not amount to much when it comes to picture quality unless it is supported by other more important features. Those important features include a larger sensor, aperture size, quality of the lens, shutter and focus speed, pixel size and much more. The latest flagships from Samsung were built while keeping these points in mind as the Korean company has opted for a 12.1 megapixel sensor with blazing fast autofocus instead of the 16 megapixel sensor from last year

The Galaxy S6 is no slouch in the camera department either and its camera is still among the best smartphone cameras that are available in the market today. However, on being compared with the S7's autofocus speed, the S6 lost by a significant margin. Each time the viewfinder was moved on both the phones, the Galaxy S7 managed to shift and autofocus on its subjects much faster. This impressive feat became even more awesome when the Galaxy S7's autofocus was found to be just as remarkable in low-light scenarios as well. During the unveiling of the S7 and S7 Edge at the MWC 2016 on February 21, Samsung had actually prepared a low-light setup to let people experience how well the S7's camera performs in poor lighting. We will know more when the S7 series starts reaching customers on March 11.
