We just dug out a photo of a Nokia-branded MeeGo tablet, along with some specs. Packing telephony and a landscape-oriented interface we are not sure what to make of the device, but it might just turn out to be the hotly anticipated Nokia N9. The device pictured is obviously a really early prototype as most of its hardware is not working and there is none of the Nokia custom UI to be seen on it. Yet we did get some hardware specs so its not all bad.
Packing a 4.5-inch screen the Nokia MeeGo half-tablet-half-phone will be supporting 3G with HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. A microUSB port is not mentioned but its now mandatory for all devices sold in the EU so I will assume its present too. An accelerometer is onboard, along a gyroscope. Camera is also present, though we cannot confirm its resolution. If this really turns out to be the Nokia N9 and previous rumors are to be trusted we might get to see the N8 top-quality on this one. Of course, there is always the chance that this is just a reference design for engineering needs and we are getting all too excited without a valid reason.
Looks like I was right when I said that the MeeGo tablet will be out on April... Stay tuned with us to see the Upcoming MeeGo tablet that will be announced Soon and releasing on April.
With the MWC fast approaching, rumors about the MeeGo-running Nokia N9 are starting to intensify again. If the Finnish source is to be trusted one of the most hotly anticipated smartphones of this year will make its debut at the congress in less than a month.
There will also be some serious hardware under the hood. Apparently the Nokia N9 will be the first Nokia smartphone to pack a 1.2 GHz CPU. The machine-translated source mentions something about it being an Intel Atom, but we cannot imagine a way of stuffing the good old x86 Atom in a smarphone. Instead our guess is the N9 is based on the Intel Moorestown platform, which is essentially a smartphone SoC with an Intel Atom core as its heart.
Next, the Nokia N9 is supposed to have the same 12 megapixel camera as the N8. Considering the qualities of the large-sensor unit inside the Nokia Symbian^3 flagship, thats just excellent news for all cameraphone lovers. Top of the line smarphones have not been doing too great in the camera department recently, so the N9 might be the first true all in one device.
The final exciting Nokia N9 rumor is its LTE connectivity. Even the source claims that this is not confirmed yet so you need to take this with an extra pinch of salt.

There is less than four weeks remaining until the MWC kicks off so we will find if the rest of it is true pretty soon.
MeeGo tablet and MeeGo OS we all wonder! Well it seems there is some movement on the MeeGo front after all. An unknown tablet and a HI/LO Vibrant smartphone running the Nokia/Intel mobile OS showed up on some pictures.
The tablet looks much like an iPad, but there is no info on the display size. The two things we know for sure from the picture are the MeeGo OS and the video-call camera.
The HI/LO Vibrant smartphone is based on Intel Atom according to the rear sticker and also runs on MeeGo. Its supposed to pack a display with WVGA resolution, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and a video-call camera.
The above pictures come from an Intel event in Russia, where the hardware manufacturer introduced some MeeGo devices on its partners.
MeeGo... This OS is currently in development and there is no basis for it to be interesting from day one. Sales of Nokia N900 showed that Maemo was perplexing for ordinary people though some bought it. During the year its price decreased two times, which is good for a handset with minimal sales.
Remember that top managers of Nokia were planning to introduce a flagship on MeeGo in 2010. At the end of 2010 new CEO of the company postponed this event until 2011. Bear in mind that 6 months are enough for a new generation of products to go on sale. This period is huge for the market of mobile solutions. Even if you take 12 months instead of 6 Nokia MeeGo delays cannot be justified.
In Dublin were announced minimum requirements to MeeGo smartphones 512 MB of RAM, 512 MB for the OS, and ARM v7 processor (x86) from 680 MHz. Sadly, we do not get the entire information as Nokia has not decided on recommended screen resolution. The current specification is numbered as MeeGo 1.2 and will be released in April of 2011. MeeGo 1.3 will be available in October of 2011 if we don't have any delays.
