Galaxy J5 Gets Updated in Europe with the July Security Patch

1 August, 2017 Samsung Updates

The Galaxy J5 is an old low-mid range device now but Samsung has not yet put it out of its security update system yet. While Android Nougat is not assured for the old smartphone (it has not been confirmed yet), it is still getting the security updates on a monthly basis to keep things safe and secure for its users. The July security update has started to hit various regions in Europe now and if you own the J5 Original in the area, you should be prompted for a firmware update very soon now.

The update itself comes in at a nominal size of only 45MB, with the build number J500FNXXS1BQG3, so the download should be a quick one. In addition to the 65 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) shared by all Android smartphones and tablets, the OTA update also includes 16 of the Korean OEM's own fixes for its smartphones. Let us know when you start to see the update in other regions as well.
