Galaxy Nexus price

Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich hero device, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, may be heading to Costco in a 289 USD bundle. An Costo ad revealed the special pricing along with a release date that supports previous rumors for a December 15 launch.

The 289 USD Galaxy Nexus bundle at Costco manages to include a leather pouch, car charger, and screen protector, and still beat out what is believed to be the official on-contract Verizon pricing of 299 USD for the device. The unsubsidized device itself is expected to be 649 USD.

Verizon has yet to confirm any details, but so far reports point to a 32GB capacity model to hit the carrier stores at the same time as when the Costco special kicks off. It is possible that the Costco version has a smaller storage capacity of 16GB, which could explain the value pricing.

Galaxy Nexus

Samsung Galaxy Nexus has made its North American debut but, unfortunately for those hoping for some Verizon LTE action, it is the Canadian carriers who are next to grab the Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone. Both Virgin Mobile Canada and Bell Canada are now offering the HSPA+ version of the Galaxy Nexus that we reviewed last month, priced from 159.99 CAD with a new, three-year agreement.

Alternatively, you can grab the HSPA+ Nexus for 649.99 CAD, if you want to use a SIM you already have. It is a pentaband model supporting the 850/900/1700/1900/2100 UMTS/WCDMA bands so if you decide to take a quick trip up from the US to grab one in Canada, you will then be able to use it on T-Mobile USA or AT&T when you get home.

Galaxy Nexus

Verizon Galaxy Nexus will have some Pre-installed bloatware Verizon apps. As you may know, the Nexus phones have been known to come with a stock ROM from Google with nothing but Google own applications installed. The Galaxy Nexus will be the first to break this tradition and have some bloatware courtesy of Verizon. Most of these apps are Made to Help Customers back up their contacts and SIM information easily to the phone memory.

However, you still have a choice, Ice Cream Sandwich comes with the ability to disable unwanted applications from the Settings menu. Mind you, you can only disable them and not delete them, which means they will still reside on your memory but will not be visible in the app launcher.

Verizon has not disabled this functionality, so you will still be able to disable their applications if  you do not want to use them.
