Later on, the rest of the Belle-running smartphones in the Nokia portfolio will get Carla as an update. Scheduled for Q4, the update should cover N8,C7,E7,X7,E6,C6-01.

Despite what previous rumors were saying, Carla will be distributed to all smartphones currently on Belle. However, those that lack NFC capabilities and 1GHz processors will get a trimmed down version of the update to avoid performance hiccups.

First, there is the new on-screen QWERTY keybord, which seems to have been inspired by its Windows Phone cousin. The Nokia Browser has also been updated to a new version, which features some new UI improvements.

But the most noticeable change comes from the lock screen. Gone is the classic Unlock Button, and replacing it is a Swipe to unlock method. The user interface of the Music player also sees some improvements in the form of a refreshed UI, as does the Options screen, which borrows the looks of the Meego Harmattan UI.

Carla

After the drop in Nokia's Symbian devices last quarter, Nokia Italy has officially revealed that Symbian "Carla" the 3rd version update of Symbian after "Anna" and "Belle" is
CANCELLED!

Stephen Elop

Nokia fans still waiting for an official announcement from Nokia main Department in Finland, but if this really true, this will mean that Symbian is fading away quicker than expected. We don't know whether there's a direct connection between Symbian sales and the update plans, but in either case, news is that the last update to the burning platform will be Nokia Belle Feature Pack 2.

gsmarena 001 Nokia introduces Car Mode, makes using your Symbian smartphone in a car super cool

Today Nokia introduced a new application for their Symbian smartphones, designed to make them easier to use when you are driving a car. Called Nokia Car Mode, the standalone app features an optimized user interface simplifying the access and use of Nokia Drive (voice-guided car navigation with Nokia Maps), traffic updates, music and voice calls while driving.

Nokia Car Mode also supports the MirrorLink standard, which lets your smartphone integrate with supported car audio, video and navigation systems. Thanks to MirrorLink you can control your smartphone via the car dashboard and use the handset navigation on the car display its as cool as it gets.

Nokia N8

Looks like its the Time to say Goodbye Symbian, Despite talks of Symbian Carla and even Symbian Donna in the works for current and new devices alike, it now appears that the successor to the Nokia N8 might be the last new Symbian device we shall see from the Finns.

Nokia had originally promised continued support for Symbian following their plans to switch to Windows Phone as their primary OS last Mobile World Congress, with the intention of selling 150 million more Symbian devices before completely phasing the OS out.

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop blamed the lackluster figures on ever-changing and increasingly difficult market conditions, influenced in particular by the demand for lower cost smartphones. "We now believe that we will sell fewer Symbian devices than we anticipated," he explained.

Symbian belle

All Nokia smartphones, which already received the Anna update and the ones running it out of the box, will be soon be updated with Symbian Belle as of October 26th. It will be available through the Ovi Suite and as an OTA update.

So, the update is coming for Nokia N8, C7, E7 and C6-01, as well for the E6, X7 and hopefully, the Nokia 500. October 26th is also the day when Nokia World 2011 kicks off, so we guess we can put some money on it. We will know for sure in three weeks.

Nokia 803

Rumors about Nokia to announce the Nokia 803 Symbian Belle smartphone. The device will likely be the last phone running the Symbian OS to come from Nokia.

Reportedly, the Nokia 803 will feature a 4-inch AMOLED screen unit. HDMI port, NFC connectivity and microSIM slot complete the rumored specs.

Most importantly however, Nokia 803 is rumored to feature the largest camera sensor we have ever seen on a Smartphone (I suggest its a 16.1MP Wide lens Camera). Add to this the suspected optical zoom and we might end up seeing one of the greatest camera phones on the market.
