Vivo iQOO Z1 5G is the latest gaming phone to feature the MediaTek flagship chipset for the first time. The company has already launched two gaming phones this year - iQOO 3 and iQOO Neo 3. Although snapdragon chops dominate the android phone in recent years, the MTK density series is in a better position for the high-performing needs. Let's talk about the display first. The phone has 1080MP LCD at a 144Hz refresh rate. The Z1 has scored over 520,000 points in the Antutu benchmark, but this isn't as good as 597,000 points of the Neo 3 running the Snapdragon 865. We see the GPU performance of the MTK chipset is much close to the Snapdragon chipset.

The gaming experience is not very different from what you can have on the Snapdragon since there are not many games that require extremely high CPU or GPU performance from Android phones. Most games support up to 60 fps frame rate. There are a few games that can lock the frame rate under 30fps like Asphalt 9. The game got a z1 shutter sometimes, but it still reaches at 29fps on an average. With games that don't lock the frame rate, Z1 could offer a super smooth gaming experience with its 144Hz display. If you continue to play games for a long time, the frame rate may drop down to 90fps to prevent any heating issues.

The phone comes with a 44W charger that takes only 23 min to charge up to 50% of the power and an hour to fully charge the phone. The one-hour PUBG mobile game consumed around 16% of the power. That means you can continue to play for another 5 hours of the game. The phone isn't perfect and has a performance gap between Snapdragon 865 and the Dimensity 1000 plus. However, with most android games, the gap is really hard to perceive due to frame rate limits. Z1 cost around $300 and is one of the cheapest gaming phones this year.

Vivo Apex 2020, a concept phone by Vivo was supposed to be unveiled at the event, but because the event was canceled due to coronavirus, it was doomed to be a footnote in the history despite its amazing features. Vivo intends to create more distinct devices than anyone else is creating reight now. The company was teasing the launch on the X50 series on Weibo, highlighting its main selling feature - the Gimbal camera system on the X50 Pro in particular.

Vivo X50 series has three phones -Vivo X50, X50 Pro, and X50 Pro+. All of these feature 6.56" FHD AMOLED display with 90Hz display refresh rate except Vivo X50 Pro+ that has 120Hz refresh rate. The camera module of the X50 Pro includes a periscope telephoto camera (like the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Huawei P40 Pro, and the OPPO Find X2 Pro), the other two are normal camera lenses (most likely an ultra-wide-angle camera and a normal telephoto), and a much larger module that is the primary camera. The lens rotates as the module is manipulated by a robotic gimbal. The key benefit here is image stabilization.

Vivo is also adding a Gimbal Radar with the Camera UI which will be depicting as a small animated ball to reflect the gimbal's movement. This will let the users know when the frame is being stable. Other techniques are being used as well, including motion-deblur algorithms and continuous focus tracking to enhance the final result and clear video. The camera system also includes super night mode and Astro mode, which enable users to captures night time photography of the streets, city, or scenes, etc.

Vivo X50 series smartphone uses Android 10 out of the box with Funtouch OS 10.5 on the top. The front camera is 32MP for all three phones, whereas the rear camera starts from 48MP to 50MP for Vivo X50/Pro and X50 Pro+ respectively. The phone has launched in China but we don't know when it is going to be available in India or other markets.

The phone comes with a super-fast Snapdragon 865 mobile processor, Wi-Fi 6, and dual-mode connectivity support for 5G.

The design of the iQOO Neo3 looks quite similar to the iQOO 3 in terms of shape and the position of the camera module. It comes in two variants with gradients. The smartphone features a triple camera module. The phone is available in two color variants with gradients. The phone features triple cameras on the rear side. For the front camera, there is a hole-punch display on the display. The fingerprint scanner is mounted on the side and the stereo speakers on the top and the bottom edges.

The iQOO Neo3 features up to 12GB of LPDDF4X RAM, and UFS 3.2 storage technology. The internal hardware capabilities can support gaming apps up to 144fps, as well as Vivo's Multi-Turbo 3.0, which features Central Core Acceleration Engine, AI Acceleration Engine, Network Acceleration Engine, Game Acceleration Engine, Thermal Acceleration Engine, and Compilation Enhanced Acceleration Engine, leading for sustained high performance. To compensate for the over-heating due to continuous video gaming the device has an 11-layer heat dissipation system.

The device comes with HDR 10 certified and comes with a single hole-punch at the top right corner of the display. The phone is using an IPS display panel. The triple rear camera system on the rear side includes a 48MP primary camera lens, an 8MP ultra-wide camera sensor, and a 2MP macro camera lens. We have seen a few 5G smartphones recently but Vivo is missing from the 5G landscape till yesterday. As today, Vivo announced its 5G enabled flagship smartphone that is powered by a Snapdragon 865 processing chip. As you might have guessed it already from the name of the phone that Nex 3S 5G is a minor hardware upgrade over the Nex 3 5G that was launched by the company last year. The phone has a non-removable Li-Po 4500mAh battery that comes with fast charging at 44W.

The new Nex 3S 5G has the same 6.89-inch FHD+ waterfall display just like its predecessor. The device has a screen-to-body ratio of 99.6%. While the company hasn't changed much from the exterior point of view but it has upgraded its hardware specs. The old Nex 3 5G was using Snapdragon 855 plus, and the new Nex 3S 5G is powered by a liquid-cooled Snapdragon 865 processor, paired with up to 128GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.

The phone has a triple-camera setup with a 64MP primary lens, a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 13MP telephoto lens featuring 2x optical zoom. For the front camera, the phone has a 16MP pop-up camera. It can create videos up to 2160p at 30 frames per second. The display is a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and offers 16M colors with a 1080 x 2256 pixel resolution. The phone comes with Android 10 with the company's own UI FunTouch. The phone is available in China starting from March 14. There are two variants for this device - 8GB/256GB variant is priced at $719 while the other version is priced at $762. For the time being there is no news about its global availability and we just have to see when it lands in India and other parts of the world.

vivo V17

Vivo V17 is almost similar to its Pro version that has almost similar hardware and software experience but the Vivo V17 is slightly cheaper than V17 Pro. The device has the same design as the Pro model. The major difference is the L shape rear camera set up inside a rectangular module. The Vivo V17 features a 6.4-inch super AMOLED display with minimum bezels. The device has a pop-up module with a modified punch hole that dies. The selfie camera is being placed on the right corner instead of the center. This does give users an almost full-screen experience but you will feel the cutout while watching videos or playing games.

The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor, which is good enough but not the best one. It can't handle heaving gaming or multi-tasking. So if you want to play PUBG on mobile, there will be a significant compromise on graphics. It has 8GB RAM with 128GB storage that can be expanded using a microSD card slot. For charging, it uses a Type-C USB charging port with 18W fast charging that helps to go from zero to 100 percent in less than an hour. The device has a 4100mAh battery whereas the pro version uses a 4500mAh battery.

V17 uses FunTouch OS 9.2 based on Android 9 Pie. The Vivo has a confusing interface and a new user may take some time to get used to it. The biggest hype around Vivo is its camera. The quad-camera setup is a perfect gift for photography enthusiasts. It can take stunning images with great detail and perfection under low light conditions. V17 has a 48MP primary camera with f/1.8, 8MP sensor with f/2.22, a 2MP sensor with f/2.4 for bokeh effect. The fourth 2MP camera with f/2.4 is a macro lens for macro photography. The night mode lets you take decent pictures even in a low light environment. There is a 32MP front camera that also has a night mode.

The Vivo V17 is great for the price tag Rs 22,990 and seems more attractive than its pro model but if you have you have to choose between Redmi K20 Pro and Vivo V17, it is hard to recommend V17. Realme X2 Pro is available at the same price or even less but with the same specs and bigger battery.
