TCL is known for its Tv-sets and now they are making smartphones. TCL launched its first official smartphone in Australia yesterday - TCL Plex. As you may be amused by its official branding and TCL's background, the news smartphone is talked about for its movie-making capabilities. According to the TCL "The Plex boasts a dedicated 'NXTVISION' display engine with an advanced processor, which can apply "HDR-like video enhancement with increased contrast, amplified color, brighter highlights, and darker shadows".
The device has a 6.53-inch FHD+ display and thus produces sharper images and visual contrasts using 2D edge and 6-axis color enhancement technologies, with several automatic viewing modes designed to reduce eye strain. Plex isn't only capable of displaying a high-quality video, but it is also able to record 4K video via its rear camera setup, which includes a 48MP ultra-high-resolution Sony sensor, along with an additional dedicated camera for taking a video which contains a 2MP low-light sensor.
The device can record a video at 960fps super slow-motion HD video while other smart video recording features allow for moving objects to be detected and tracking using automatic zooming and stabilization. The third camera on its rear side has a 16MP 123-degree wide-angle lens. For taking selfies TCL has created a small pinhole display cutout, which was called ‘dutch' by the manufacturer. The phone has a Snapdragon 675 chipset, something that is empowering Samsung's mid-range Galaxy A70 smartphone. It has a 6GB RAM for faster video response and gaming experience. The phone comes with Android 9 Pie out of the box. TCL also claims to boost the Bluetooth functionality of the phone. The phone is available to purchase at $499 only.
