If you own a Motorola Droid and you haven't noticed there was a problem with AutoFocus, then you may skip this blog.  Apparently, Android had a small software issue with the Autofucus feature on the Droid.  Some claimed that a software update was secreted pushed to the Droid without our knowledge, but no one can really confirm this.

I basically did my own testing and realized, the auto-fucus features seem to work fine now.  See above and before and after pictures.

Droid - the First Motorola Android-based Phone

Motorola will soon come with its first mobile device developed in partnership with Google to feature the next-generation open Android platform phone, named Droid. It is slightly thicker than the iPhone but has the thinnest touch QWERTY slider available on the market. It seems to be the fastest Android device and it's no surprise because it has an ARM Cortex A8 TI OMAP3430 processor. The display, according to the FCC information, is a massive high 854×480 pixels resolution, which is 2-3 times the space as the Palm Pre, Android G1 or iPhone.

Motorola Droid is 3G-capable. Its industry-leading 3.7-inch display allows the best view of websites and easily zooms with a double tap for faster navigating. Due to its powerful processor, Flash and full HTML browser, Droid delivers Web pages, 3D graphics and videos up to two-times faster than other devices, in beautiful 16-million color high-definition.

Its 16:9 high-resolution screen frame is ideal for watching clips or downloaded videos, and playback and YouTube upload over 3G Wi-Fi can be watched at DVD quality video. A built-in 5 megapixel camera provided with dual LED flash has the quality of a dedicated digital camera with auto focus and zoom. Users can store up to 16GB of content or insert a memory card up to 32GB.

Motorola Droid sets new standards for smartphones. The power of Web search gets a new meaning. Motorola Droid allows you to type or speak your search with voice command, and you get results from the web, but also anything you want - contacts, music, photos, applications and more. You don't have to dig into menus anymore to find what you need; everything is available from the home screen.

Droid is for costumers looking for an ultimate web browsing experience.

Motorola Droid will be available on the 1st of December in North America, exclusively on Verizon Wireless.

According to The Boy Genius Report. With a hands-on look at the hardware, the site calls the handset "the most impressive phone we've used since the iPhone."

"It's the Android device to beat, and easily the most impressive," the report said. "From what we've been told, Google had a direct hand in the Motorola Droid. Something to the point of almost dictating every move Motorola made with designing and making the phone."

The hardware is said to be slightly thicker than an iPhone 3GS with a slide-out physical keyboard, and internally the phone sports a reportedly speedy TI OMAP3430 processor. The hardware keyboard has a rubberized finish but allegedly is not finalized.

Remember the Android HTC Hero that appeared at the beginning of the month in some leaked pictures?

We already knew that it was coming to Orange, and now it looks like it will come to Orange only, as the carrier has reportedly won exclusivity over the smartphone - of course, we're talking about Europe here, because the handset could also be released in the US by T-Mobile, possibly under the name of T-Mobile G3.

The Hero will not be the only Android device to hit Orange this year. The giant mobile operator should also launch Android smartphones from Sony Ericsson, Samsung, LG and Motorola.

Mobile phone maker Nokia apologised to customers Wednesday after shoppers at its new online store Ovi complained of slow download speeds and problems installing programmes onto their handsets.

The company on Tuesday launched its virtual Ovi Store, where users can download games, videos and other applications on their mobile phones. The store is available in five languages, including English, Spanish and Russian.

Many users have left comments on the Ovi Store blog, expressing their disappointment because the website was too slow and they could not install applications on their mobile phone.

"We have apologised to users on the blog and we encourage people to carry on giving us feedback as we develop the service better," Nokia spokesman Andrew Flowers told AFP.

"We have added server capacity to improve the speed of service," he added.

Flowers declined to comment whether Nokia had been unprepared for the heavy traffic on Ovi Store.

Nokia chief executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo has said the company plans to increase the amount of services offered for mobile phone users as it is seen as a way to stay ahead of aggressive new competitors such as Google, Apple and RIM, which makes the popular Blackberry handsets.

Ovi, which means "door" in Finnish, is seen as Nokia's attempt to compete with Apple, which launched its rival AppStore for iPhone users last July.

"In the first 24 hours of the Ovi Store opening we had registered users from 131 countries; this really speaks about the scale and reach of the Ovi Store," Flowers said.

He also said the number of Ovi Store compatible devices had been increased to more than 60 from around 50.

The global financial crisis has hit Nokia's earnings as consumers have cut back on buying handsets and it has launched massive cost and job cuts around the world.

Net profits at the Finnish company dropped 90 percent in the first quarter of 2009 to 122 million euros (160 million dollars).

There are a few points here that are indisputable, but fans of the Pre might take umbrage at a few of the things here about the Pre (click the image above for the full size):

* The Palm Pre "Touchscreen control gestures not intuitive" whereas the iPhone features "Patented Multi-Touch screen" and "Fast and responsive navigation." Hokay.

* The iPhone sports a "Thinner, lighter, bigger screen, metal and glass design" while the Pre is "Available in Black only; plastic casing."

* The Pre gets knocked for not being a GSM world phone and "Limited free Wi-Fi access" because they don't get to use AT&T Hotpots.

* The Pre has an "Unproven App Catalog app store."

Ok, so we'll leave it as an exercise to our readers to debunk and take issue with any and all of the above (well, here's a start: the weight difference between the iPhone and the Pre: two grams. OH NOES!).

AT&T powerpoints: Slides detailing the Palm Eos, a new HP iPaq and probably most thrilling, HTC Lancaster (aka the Android phone we've been waiting for).

I've always wondered what Android would be like on a Touch Pro, that's basically Lancaster. There is the dreary little note that "Initial Lab Entry dates were based on Google Mobile Services (GMS) UI, AT&T standard UI has been requested, which puts schedule in question" meaning AT&T could muck it up with their own UI, and take longer putting out the phone in the process. Its target date is Aug. 3, and it'll be AT&T-exclusive for six months it looks like. Update: Oops, didn't notice at first the screen resolution is a bit too squee for our tastes (240x320). Bummer.

AT&T's fall lineup is looking pretty unassailable at this point: With iPhone 3, a WebOS phone, and a solid Android piece, all of their bases are covered, with the exception of a touchscreen BlackBerry, but um, who really wants one of those now? Good thing AT&T's network blows, since the other carriers have their work cut out for them.

via:engadgetmobile

Good news, Android fans - that's not all AT&T has in the pipeline! The Motorola Heron, aka Iron Man, is still on the roadmap for the holiday season.

There were some rumblings almost a month ago that the Heron was in the works, but there was no information as to what specs to expect with it.

Earlier today we discussed breaking news about the HTC Lancaster becoming the first Android phone on AT&T, a big shocker to many considering the company was quite hush-hush about what the future held for the Google mobile OS.

With all the smart phone currently on the market and all these big manufacturers keep on coming out with awesome devices, do you really care about Garmin Further Delays Nuvifone?

See below story:

Garmin president and COO Cliff Pemble said, "Smartphones are complicated and bringing one to market that's built totally from the ground up on a custom Linux platform is not an easy task." The company said it is in the testing phase of the certification process and said cellphone carriers remain very interested in the product.

Garmin originally planned to launch a nuvifone in the third quarter 2008 and then more recently slated shipment of a consumer aimed Linux-based G60 nuvifone in the first half under a partnership with Asus, followed in the second half by an M20 device aimed at mobile professionals running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, also under the Garmin-Asus partnership

When asked if the future of Garmin is chiefly in smartphones or personal navigation devices (PNDs), Garmin responded its future will depend on a three pronged approach in the automobile/mobile sector including smartphones, PNDs and OEM sales.

Also during the conference call on first quarter earnings, the company said North American PND sales to consumers were up for the first quarter by 20 percent and that analysts expect sales for the year to increased 18 to 20 percent. By contrast Garmin's sales to its retailers were down five percent in units for the first quarter ended March 28, compared to the year ago period as retailers were overstocked.

Unit sales in low end PNDs accounted for 85 percent of Garmin's PND sales compared to 80 percent for the quarter a year ago. The low end also represented 80 percent of revenue compared to 70 percent for the year ago quarter.

Garmin said it expects PND average selling prices (ASPs) for the full year to fall below last year by 15 percent, although first quarter ASPs were down more dramatically.

According to the folks over a mobile.se, a German PR rep for Sony Ericsson has gone on the record to state that the Idou - a Symbian-powered device with a 3.5″ touchscreen, monstrous 12 megapixel camera and GPS - is slated to commence retail sales in October with November being the fall-back date.

When asked for comments, Gustaf Brusewitz of Sony Ericsson Sweden would only reconfirm the companies previous commitment to ship the Idou "sometime in the second half of the year," something that we hope means that the Idou will go on sale well before Christmas to help the struggling Japanse/Swedish owned company get back on its feet. Besides, wouldn't it be nice to have a 12 megapixel camera phone in your pocket on Halloween to document your best friend almost blowing his hand off with an M-80? Yeah, that'd be so sweet.

The handset will be T-Mobile's second exclusive Google Android device

Huawei will release the third Google Android phone - dubbed the G3 - on T-Mobile, some time after July 2009.

The low-cost device will have a five-megapixel camera, a 3mm headphone jack and Wi-Fi.

A Huawei spokeswoman said: ‘I can confirm that Huawei will be releasing the third Google phone on T-Mobile this year.'

The move will be T-Mobile's second exclusive Google Android device. The operator became the sole provider for the first Google phone - the HTC G1 - when it was released in October 2008.

Vodafone announced in February it had won exclusivity on Google Android's second phone, the HTC Magic.

The HTC Magic will be available from May

Do you remember when Expansys ranted about Samsung's "Louve" Windows Mobile smartphone earlier this year?

While Expansys removed all information later, Dutch The Phone House spilled the beans now, this time even with a blurry photo which seems to be taken from a presentation chart. According to The Phone House, the code-name is "Louvre" not "Louve" while the official product name will be most likely "B7610".

Featuring a slide-out full QWERTY-keyboard, it's expected that the B7610 is featuring a tilting screen, a 3.2 megapixel camera and it's said to run Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, while the customized UI was said to be similar to Samsung SGH-i900 Omnia TouchWIZ UI.

While The Phone House hasn't released any further information about Samsung's upcoming Windows Mobile smartphone yet, the B7610 photo above is most likely a Photo Shop result, does the design reminds on Samsung's F700 Qbowl. Nevertheless, with another rant from a second source, it seems to be confirmed that Samsung is releasing another slide-out keyboard smartphone soon.

We're holding this in the rumor column for now, as it appears to be a real screenshot sent our way but we're still working toward 100% confirmation. We have, what appears to be a list of 3G cities going live this year for magenta.

Its a pretty compiled list and is sure to please quite a few of you who are still oh so patiently waiting for the greenlight! While we want to reinforce the idea that we haven't confirmed this list, it seems pretty legit and unless its a cruel joke from an AT&T fanboi who just wants to tease us, this should hopefully give those of you left waiting for 3G a better idea of what to expect this year. Did your city make the list??

24 February, 2009 Samsung

By the looks of it, Samsung S5600 will be launched as an affordable touchscreen phone, hence it might be competing with LG Cookie.

Details about the features of S5600 are scarce, but we can see that it uses Samsung's TouchWiz UI (without Windows Mobile, so it's not a smartphone).

No word yet on when we'll get to see the Samsung S5600 in stores, but the South Korean company probably intends to release it as soon as possible.

Looks like it is indeed. This render of the Ocean 2 decked out with a black bezel was hiding in a Helio page intended for Korean-American customers, and it appears it might even be for sale already for that market. It might mean a trip to a Korea-town dealer or calling up a Helio CS rep and asking real nicely, but if you're waiting for a slightly less vibrant Ocean 2, you might be able to get one now.

The color change made sense, with the Helio-brand now under the parental guidance of Virgin Mobile (who's primary color is red) - but it was one of the things we didn't like. We said in our review that we hoped a black version would follow, as various hearsay had lead us to believe.

While that no doubt appeals if you happen to be planning a trip up Everest or a an adventure along the Amazon, the majority of us just want to know if it's any good for email and calls. And you know what?

It just might be. A Windows Mobile 6.1 device with a 624Mhz PXA processor and high-speed HSDPA connectivity, it offers a full QWERTY keyboard, a 320 × 240 touch screen, 2.2GB of storage, a video-friendly 2 megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, a digital compass and Bluetooth. A specification every bit as solid as its casing.

And if it does happen to let you down, i-mate is offering a lifetime warranty, replacing the 810-F without a quibble. Look out for it in the coming weeks for an as-yet undisclosed price.

On Tuesday, Nokia announced the immediate availability of the E63 (in red or blue) at its flagship stores in New York and Chicago as well as independent retailers and e-tailers. The Symbian smartphone is sold as an unlocked phone for $279. While still expensive when compared with other subsidized smartphones, it's really quite a drop and much more affordable than Nokia's other unlocked phones, which range from $500 to $700.

The lower price point doesn't mean less features either. The E63 is stocked a full HTML Web browser with Flash support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G support, e-mail, and more. With the purchase of the Nokia E63, you also get a complimentary 12-month subscription to Nokia's Files on Ovi service, which includes 1GB online storage for your content.

According to Nokia, it expects to have evaluation units soon, so we'll have our full review up as soon as possible.

Looks pretty hot

eaked pictures below show that the Samsung Acme has a sleek and stylish exterior which has been taken from its bigger brother, the Samsung Omnia.

It is rumoured that it will include a 8 megapixel touchscreen cameraphone, which is no surprise for Samsung's standards. As well as attracting the click happy bunch, it also includes GPS, HDMI, WiFi, 3.5mm socket, is DNLA and DivX compatible and offers HD recording. It will come in 8GB and 16GB versions and is expected to be a bit on the pricey side.

Now, the specs sound all to familiar to its predecessor the Samsung Omnia, except for its memory boosting option of 16GB, so it comes at no shock that the some mobile phone experts have already been comparing it to the Apple iPhone. Apart from a few differences I can definitely see the similarities, however only time will tell when this is released to see how it stacks up to its rival.

Acer, who acquired E-Ten last year, is pretty easy to understand. Contrary to the Acer brand, E-Ten and Glofiish brands are virtually unknown in most parts of the world. So just slapping a new Acer label on it and putting DX900 into Acer's distribution channels might spur some sales of this pretty well specc'ed out smartphone.

Mobile Tech Addicts found the old good E-Ten Glofiish DX900 rebranded as Acer DX900 smartphone already available for pre-order on UK retailer's Clove Technology site.

All other things remain unchanged in Acer DX900, including dual SIM capability, 2.8" VGA touchscreen, GPS, Wi-Fi, 3 mpx camera and Windows Mobile 6.1 OS.

LG Electronics (LGE) shipped over 100 million handsets in 2008, surpassing the amounts shipped by Motorola and Sony Ericsson, respectively, to capture, for the first time, third place in the global handset market, the South Korea-based JoongAng Daily quoted sources at LGE as indicating.

Motorola managed to ship 99.9 million handsets, while Sony Ericsson's 2008 ended with 96.6 million devices sold.

Nokia and Securitas today announced a new cooperation regarding mobile services for personal security and every day safety. Mobile devices already today give increased feeling of security with friends and family only a text message or a phone call away. By combining the main competencies of companies within security and mobility, Securitas and Nokia plan to cooperate by introducing attractive and affordable security services in Nokia mobile devices. GPS enabled mobile devices are soon to be as common as the camera making this a mass market service.

everaging on the fact that more and more phones have built-in GPS, Nokia and Securitas will implement a suit of services called Securitas Safe-2-Go.

This is comprised of four sub-services that will allow users to "get help in an exposed situation", as well as to benefit from "increased security through information regarding the location of friends and family."

The service Securitas Safe-2-Go makes it possible to, for example, get help in an exposed situation, but also gives increased security through information regarding the location of friends and family. Securitas Safe-2-Go initially contains four services, Assist where you can, with the touch of a button, get connected to Securitas alarm central which has information about who is connecting, where this person is located and which people related to the person need to be contacted. Find, where you can get the current position on where friends are located. Zone, where you receive an SMS if someone leaves or comes into a predefined area, like a school or a home. And finally, Friends, which gives an overview of where all friends are located. Securitas Safe-2-Go will be launched commercially during the first half of 2009 in Sweden and be launched in other European countries later during 2009.

When we check out the front of the candybar, we can see that the device has a high Samsung Pixon proportion. The device is about the same size, at least it looks like that, and also a touchscreen. Almost all touchscreens look like this of course, but it is not very innovative.

The new unknown device will be equipped with all possibilities that we expect of a high-end device: good camera, musicplayer, internet and of course calling and sending messages. The device will be equipped with a renewed version of Samsung's Touch UI. This interface clearly got a little more mature and it received neater symbols. What the other changes will be is unknown for now.

The camera may be the most important thing on this device, this will probably be the first one with an eight megapixel camera and Xenon flash. The camera lens is automatically opened as soon as the camera is started via the menu or the quick key at the side of the device. Internet support will probably consist of UMTS, HSDPA and WiFi support.

The device will soon come to the Korean market with the name Samsung SCH S740 and nickname "Haptic 3". Whether the device will also come to Europe is unknown at this point, certainty about the specifications is also something that cannot be given. We might see the device again at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

China Mobile, the world's largest wireless carrier, plans to launch a 3G handset built on the Android platform in the first quarter, a source with direct knowledge of the issue said on Friday.

The handset, named "OPhone", will be the first phone in China that features Google's (GOOG.O) Android operating system and will use China's homegrown third-generation mobile network, the source said.

Lenovo Mobile, a former mobile phone unit of Lenovo Group (0992.HK), is the maker of the phone, said the source who requested anonymity ahead of the product's official release.

"The product is in the final testing stage at the moment," the source said.

A spokesman from China Mobile in Beijing declined to comment.

China Mobile acquired a licence to develop TD-SCDMA networks on Wednesday when Beijing handed out long-awaited 3G licences to its three state-run carriers. [ID:nL7330594]

TD-SCDMA technology, which is domestically developed and heavily backed by Beijing, has seen slow progress since China Mobile started test trials last year. The lack of handsets is one of the major obstacles.

So far, there are only dozens of TD-SCDMA handsets available. Most of them are domestically made, with a small portion carrying international brands, such as Motorola (MOT.N), Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) and LG Electronics (066570.KS).

Helio Ocean 2, the handset that's been in the rumor mill since the spring of 2007, could be finally released this quarter.

You probably already know that, following the Virgin Mobile acquisition, Helio is now known as Helio by Virgin Mobile. In consequence, the Ocean 2 will come out under this brand.

Silicon Alley Insider says that, according to a Virgin Mobile rep, the new Ocean might go on sale starting February.

Like the first-generation Ocean, Helio Ocean 2 will have a QWERTY and an alphanumeric keyboard. Apart from that, it's said that the handset also sports a QVGA display, 3G connectivity, full HTML browser and external memory slot.

The W715 is a compact slider with a metal finish. It features a TrackID application to recognize unknown music tracks, SensMe to match the music to the mood, and Shake Control to change songs with the flick of a wrist. The W715 also has the same excellent sound quality as the W980, rated 'best audio experience' in independent tests.

It has a built-in 3.2-megapixel camera to capture photos and Wi-Fi connectivity to upload them to social networking sites.

"With fully integrated GPS and Vodafone Find&Go, this phone is offering a very attractive feature set in a combination we know customers are asking for more and more," said Patrick Chomet, Global Director of Terminals at Vodafone.

The Vodafone exclusive Sony Ericsson W715 will be available in Galactic Black, and Luxury Silver. Country availability will be announced later.

With a name like "Rapture," the Motorola VU30 for Verizon Wireless sets itself up as an agent of bliss that can transport one to higher places. But here on earth, this is Motorola's latest addition to Verizon's cadre of multimedia phones that double as music players.

Combining a sleek, clamshell design with a high-speed, 3G connection, the phone offers a slew of multimedia options, including access to more than 5 million songs on Verizon's VCAST Music with Rhapsody. The phone's centerpiece is a touch-sensitive external display, which enables quick access to the music player and 2.0-megapixel camera. The Rapture also shoots video and records audio, which can be sent out in a multimedia message within seconds of recording.

For storing multimedia and songs, the Rapture holds up to 8GB of micro SD removable memory. Users can sync tunes or playlists to a computer PC using a USB cable (sold separately) with no restrictions on making copies. And when listening to music, users can jam wirelessly, because the Rapture supports compatible Bluetooth-enabled stereo headsets, as well as a standard earplug with 2.5mm headset jack.

Through VCAST, the Rapture delivers a constant stream on-demand video for an additional monthly fee on its vivid 2.2-inch 262K-color TFT screen. While the phone entertains, it also keeps users on track. The phone comes preloaded with Verizon's VZ Navigator, providing turn-by-turn directions as well as information about local businesses, ATM locations, and other places of interest.

Apple Inc. co-founder and Chief Executive Steve Jobs said Wednesday he is taking a medical leave until the end of June - just a week after the cancer survivor tried to assure investors and employees his recent weight loss was caused by an easily treatable hormone deficiency.

Apple's stock plunged 7 percent.

Jobs, 53, said in a letter last week that he would remain at Apple's helm despite the hormone problem, and that he had already begun a "relatively simple and straightforward" treatment. But in an e-mail to employees Wednesday, Jobs backtracked.

"During the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought," he wrote.

Apple's shares have surged and crashed over the last year in step with rumors or news about the CEO's health and his gaunt appearance. While the top executive's health is an issue for investors in any company, at Apple the level of concern reaches fever pitch because Jobs has a hand in everything from ideas for new products to the way they're marketed. Investors fear that without Jobs, Apple will not be able to sustain its growth of the last decade, which has seen Apple branch out from its Mac computers into the iPod and the iPhone.

Last week, Jobs said his disclosure of his hormone problem was "more than I wanted to say, and all that I am going to say" about his health. It came on the eve of Macworld, the biggest Apple trade show of the year, and Jobs said he wanted everyone to relax and enjoy the show.

Even so, the limited amount of medical information in that announcement did little to soothe Wall Street's nerves, and in interviews last week analysts predicted that the health watch would continue.

Apple's history of keeping information about Jobs' health under wraps is only fueling the speculation. The company waited until after Jobs underwent surgery in 2004 to treat a very rare form of pancreatic cancer - an islet cell neuroendocrine tumor - before alerting investors. That type of cancer is easily cured if diagnosed early, unlike the deadlier and more common adenocarcinoma.

And last summer, Apple insisted Jobs' weight loss was due to a common bug, even as The New York Times cited anonymous sources who said Jobs had undergone "a surgical procedure" to address the problem.

Apple's chief operating officer, Tim Cook, will take over Jobs' responsibilities while he is on leave, though Jobs said he plans to remain involved in major strategic decisions while he is out.

It was a pretty exciting year for the mobile phone industry in 2008. Beginning in early part of 2008 when Apple's 2nd Gen iPhone, the iPhone 3G was released, almost every major manufacturers called up their technicians and asked them to come up with the iPhone killer. Their battle cry was - come up with the equal if not better alternative to the iPhone which is sweeping the mobile phone market. And so aside from the iPhone we've witnessed how the industry went gaga in anticipation of mobile phones such as the Blackberry Bold, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1, Samsung Omnia, and of course the much awaited Google-powered HTC-manufactured mobile phone - the G1. As our special feature to usher in the new year for the mobile phone market, here's a recap of these top five cell phones that rocked the mobile phone market in 2008.

The last mobile phone that Motorola launched during the recently concluded CES 2009 was perhaps the company's answer to the growing touchscreen-enabled mobile phone market - the MOTOSURF A3100. For a Limited Time, Customers Can Save Big on Instinct with a Price Drop to Just $99.99 with a Two-Year Contract.

Within a few days after its release, Instinct became the fastest-selling EVDO handset in Sprint history. Instinct accounted for more than one-fifth of all Sprint handsets being sold during the first two weeks of availability and continued to sell at a record pace through the 2008 holiday season. Instinct users consume data at a rate of approximately five times more than any other Sprint device, especially music and other downloads, text messaging and GPS navigation.

"Instinct has been a great success for us from both a sales and innovation perspective," said Kevin Packingham, Sprint SVP of Product Development. "We are thrilled with our customer's response to this dynamic, well-integrated and easy-to-use wireless phone. Bringing the price under $100 will make it even more accessible to customers who want the best of Sprint's 3G network on a powerful touchscreen device."

Much of the success of Instinct can be attributed to its industry-leading features including Visual Voicemail, allowing users to listen to messages in their order of preference and manage them with a simple tap of the screen. Additional features include advanced stereo Bluetooth(R) 2.0, SMS voice and text messaging with threaded text, a true HTML Web experience, picture caller ID, a 2.0 megapixel camera with camcorder, haptic feedback and expandable microSD memory of up to 8GB.

Instinct users recently gained access to corporate calendar functionality on Instinct at no additional charge. Sprint Mobile Email Work, which already provided access to corporate email and contacts, allows Instinct users to view and update their work calendar, create and delete appointments and more, right on their phone from Microsoft Exchange Server 2000, 2003 or 2007 accounts, or IBM Lotus Domino accounts.

Instinct was named "Best in Show" in the third annual Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Award competition in April at CTIA Wireless 2008. Instinct was also honored as "Most Innovative Product at CTIA Wireless 2008" by the editors of LAPTOP, a leading mobile technology magazine. CNET also recognized Instinct as the "Best Cell Phone" in its annual Cream of the Crop CTIA 2008 awards. Several nationally recognized news organizations, including CNET, named Instinct one of the best wireless phones of 2008.
