On Thursday, Apple and Samsung held their long awaited post-trial hearing in front of Judge Lucy Koh. Samsung was hoping that it could get the judge to throw out the verdict and order a new trial based on the actions of jury foreman Velvin Hogan. Hogan failed to disclose a lawsuit he filed against Seagate Technologies, a partner of Samsung, and also was alleged to have used improper legal principles when discussing patent law with the rest of the jury during deliberations.

While the Judge did not make a ruling today on Samsung's motion, based on her body language, Judge Koh is not impressed with Samsung's arguments on this matter.

One area where Judge Koh did seem animated was when discussing damages and the possibility that the jury awarded too much money to Apple considering that no Apple design patents were found to have been infringed on. The jury award Apple 40% of Samsung's profits and a 50% royalty fee on certain devices. Apple's argument was that the court has to accept the jury's numbers at face value and not compute how it arrived at them.

We you may know about Samsung's affordable Note II version with lower-res screen coming to Europe, its called Samsung Grand 5-incher coming to the US, with 480x800 pixels of resolution, 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos processor, and a 2,100 mAh battery.

The Grand Duos is allegedly codenamed GT-I8092, and will make a cameo in January,2013, possibly at the CES expo in Las Vegas.

The Galaxy Grand DUOS is supposed to appear in Metallic Blue and Elegant White, but we sincerely hope that the price would be right, as the WVGA resolution on a 5" LCD screen doesn't sound hot at all, unless we get the stylus and the software goodies from the Note II to make the pixel density more palatable.

A leaked ROM has revealed that Samsung is preparing to announce a Plus version of the Galaxy Pocket.

Carrying the model number GT-S5301, there isn't much yet known about Galaxy Pocket Plus except it's going to run Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. This should bring a whiff of hope to current Galaxy Pocket owners, as they might get a taste of the ICS action eventually.
