Latest News - / Samsung Updates - Posts

The Galaxy Tab S2 is getting quite old now, but it still is receiving regular updates from Samsung and the respective carriers. Although it's quite doubtful whether or not the tablet will ever be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo, there is no doubt regarding the fact that the security updates will continue to be rolled out for the device for some time at least.

The details of the November security update as released by T-Mobile can be checked out from here, in case you are interested. The security patch carries the build number T818TUVU1BQJ3 and you should see it arrive on your tablet any time now, provided you are using the Tab S2 on a T-Mobile connection of course.

Samsung's update schedule regarding the monthly security updates have been a jumbled mess lately, but if you own a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge in the Netherlands, we have good news because the November security patch has just started rolling out to the two smartphones in the region. The OTA update will come in with firmware version G930FXXS1DQK1 if you have a S7 and firmware version G935FXXS1DQK1 for the S7 Edge. Both packages weigh in at around 20MB only, but that's to be expected, given that the only major flaw which it corrects is vulnerability to the Krack Wi-Fi hack.

In addition to the 61 fixes which Google detailed in the November patch, this month's update will also fix six of Samsung's own problems in the two smartphone's overlying user interface. Keep in mind that this update is live only for the unlocked versions of the two smartphones in the region and it will take a bit of time before the carrier versions get it.

If you live in the US and you own a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge under contract Sprint, your October security patch has finally arrived. The update arrives after half the month of November is gone but hey! At least it's here right? I am aware that it's way too late but then again, Samsung has not been very timely with their monthly security updates recently and this is a carrier update, which usually takes longer.

If you own the Galaxy S7, the update should reach you in the form of firmware version G930PVPU5BQJ3, while if you own the Galaxy S7 Edge, the same update will reach you via firmware version G935PVPU5BQJ3. In case you are thinking about the November security patch, that is a riddle that no one will be able to solve right now! Just when we were beginning to think that Samsung might skip the November patch altogether, like it did with the September security patch, the Galaxy A5 (2017) had started to receive this month's security update just yesterday. We will have to wait and see how Samsung and the US carriers play this one out.

Head over to our firmware section to find all the latest available updates for your Samsung smartphones and tablets.
