Google security

Earlier this year, it was found out that Google search has been flirting a bit with mobile Safari's privacy settings, and while this might seem as an innocent love affair to you, the Federal Trade Commission sees this as a kind of security breach that has to be punished! Earlier rumors indicated that the fine Google will probably have to pay may exceed $10 million, but now, thanks to CNN sources that are said to be familiar with the matter, we know that the fine will actually be "a bit" heftier: $22,5 million.

Google statement to CNN regarding the case:

"We cannot comment on any specifics. However we do set the highest standards of privacy and security for our users."

Analytic

Google Analytics on the desktop gives mobile app developers a chance to look at metrics involving your apps. Now, Google is making the information mobile by offering a version of Google Analytics for the Google Play Store that is optimized for a smartphone. You can get a real-time report showing how many visitors you have and your most popular web pages or app screens.

The Dashboard lets you customize the information so you can see the metrics that are most important to you. You will default to the number of daily unique visitors and goal conversion rate, but you can make changes to the screen.

Currents

Google launched the New Google Currents v4.1 on Google Play store. But Google Current has something that Flipboard doesn't which is a developer-parent that produces the leading smartphone OS in the world. Google is taking advantage of this, according to an email sent to its partners, by adding Google Currents as a pre-installed application on all versions of Google 4.1. Here is a screenshot of YouMobile on the New Currents.

Google expects its action to result in a multitude of new Currents users, although by taking away your choice, it also takes away some of your storage space. Originally released late last year for Android and iOS, Google Currents takes your news feeds and converts them into a magazine style read. It also includes some default selections for your perusal. And now, with this news, Google Currents joins the Google family of apps found on the vast majority of Android devices.

glass

Yes, there is no denying that Google Glass is a cool concept. But even Google admits that it won't be ready for consumers until 2014. Developers still need to start writing for the device, bugs need to be fixed and the software will probably be refined over the next year or so, The Google Glasses Explorer Eddition is Now Available for Pre-order for $1,500 but for developers ONLY. Even though early videos showed off a day in the life of a Glass user, what can the device REALLY be used for?

To that end, the Mountain View tech titan is releasing videos called Google Glass Sessions. Not only does the video show you how Google Glass will make your life easier/happier, it also shows you what Google is doing with the software. The first Session shows how Laetitia Gayn, the wife of a 'Googler' uses Google Glass to share her story about a new born child. Using 'Hangouts', she shares with her family in France a number of the baby's first actions.

Chrome on iPad

Today Google is officially announcing the Chrome browser for the iPhone and iPad. There had been some question as to whether or not Google would bring their popular browser to iOS, since they would be unable to implement some of their secret sauce, like their customer javascript engine.

Chrome on iPhone

It appears that Google does indeed want to bring Chrome to your iOS devices, and they demonstrated what they expect will be their killer feature the ability to sync across devices. They demonstrated both iPhones and iPad accessing the pages open on other devices, and even signing in to The New York Times on an iPad, despite it being the first time the demo had been run on that unit.

Google I/O 2012 is about to start this weekend on 28,June. Doug Anmuth of JP Morgan had this to say:

"Co-founder and CEO Larry Page was not present at the shareholder meeting. Google indicated that he had lost his voice and was unable to speak at the meeting, and also that he would not be speaking at next week's Google I/O developer conference or the company's 2Q earnings call. We have no specific reason to think there is anything more to Larry's condition, but we find it odd that the company would already rule him out of the 2Q call which is likely still a few weeks away. We think this could raise some questions among investors. We note that Larry does not appear to have posted on Google+ since May 25."
