Two people close to Nokia revealed for New York Times, the Finn manufacturer will introduce a metallic Windows Phone-based smartphone Lumia 900 today at CES 2012.
The Lumia 900 is no secret, since it has leaked numerous times before. The currently available leaked materials show a phone looking exactly like the polycarbonate Lumia 800/N9, so no one thought Nokia might use different body this time.
If the New York times sources are correct though, the upcoming Windows Phone flagship Lumia 900 will be made of metal.
Nokia used their CES 2012 press conference to announce their latest Windows Phone smartphone the Nokia Lumia 900. Coming with LTE connectivity and a 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED, the Lumia 900 is going to be an ATT exclusive at launch.
Lumia 900 Official Press Photos
Nokia has officially announced the Lumia 900, as expected, an AT&T exclusive in the US and using the carrier 4G LTE network. Resembling an oversized Lumia 800, the Nokia Lumia 900 has a 4.3-inch AMOLED WVGA display and runs Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, complete with the Finnish company custom Nokia Drive and Nokia Music apps for turn-by-turn directions and subscription-free streaming music.
Inside, there is a 1.4GHz single-core processor, also as in the Lumia 800. On the back is an 8-megapixel camera with an LED flash and autofocus, supporting 720p HD video recording; that resolution is a limit of Microsoft smartphone OS, at present, rather than whatever the optics in the phone itself. Still, you do get Carl Zeiss f/2.2 optics on the new Lumia, and a front camera has an f/2.4 lens.
Nokia has used the extra space inside the injected polycarbonate single-piece casing another thing carried over from the smaller Lumia and the N9 before it to accommodate a 1,830 mAh battery, and the phone itself will be available in either black or cyan. Preloaded is a special CNN app, with iReport features. It is common knowledge that the PenTile matrix layout is something you should ideally avoid if you want the absolute best image quality. Unfortunately, a large number of devices do ship with this display technology on-board, with Nokia Lumia 800 being one of them.
Nokia US Recently confirms through its official twitter account that Nokia Lumia 900 display is NOT penTile which is good News!

When Nokia announced the new Lumia 900 at CES they only said it will be released in the next few months without giving a proper date.
Windows bloggers Paul Thurrott has gone one step ahead and pinned March 18 has the actual date of launch.

According to the latest bit of online rumors, the Nokia Lumia 900 will hit the ATT shelves on March,18th and will cost 99.99 USD. This price tag on a two-year contract does look cheap so if it is true, Nokia will obviously market the Lumia 900 quite aggressively.
Nokia Lumia N900 has a 4.3 inches of non-PenTile AMOLED WVGA and a 1.4 GHz Scorpion CPU, which is about as fast as it gets on the Microsoft platform. Given that WP is still in no position to challenge the big guys just yet, pricing the Nokia flagship lower than the Android and iOS top-dogs seems like a reasonable move on the AT&T side.
