As you would expect, the Galaxy Note 8 is on top of the rumor news right now and we have another one for you today. The Note 8 was just spotted on HTML5 browser benchmarking site earlier and it looks as if the handset will indeed be sporting Android Nougat 7.1.1 just like everyone is anticipating.
Although the smartphone didn't exactly show up as the Galaxy Note 8, it wasn't hard to figure out given that the model number of the phone in question was SM-N950U. In the benchmarking test, the device scored 517 points, which is quite impressive once you consider that the highest theoretically possible score is 555 on the test. Samsung Internet 6.0 was used as the browser during the testing. More importantly, the SM-N950U was also running on Android version 7.1.1 Nougat.

It was a big disappointment for us enthusiasts when the Galaxy Note 7 was released with just 4GB of RAM last year. It wasn't that performance took a hit or the 4GB of RAM was insufficient for multitasking by any means, but it was still disappointing because of the fact that every rumor till about a week before the launch was speculating that the Note 7 would sport 6GB RAM. The rumor mill is predicting something along the same line this year as well because the latest leak found on Weibo is suggesting that there will be an 8 gig variant of the Galaxy Note 8 as well.
According to this rumor, the Note 8 will come in two RAM variants; the standard 6GB and the "Emperor" version with 8GB. It wouldn't even be surprising if the Note 8 "Emperor" variant was also launched with double the standard storage of 256GB (as rumored). The only problem with the rumor is that the source is also claiming to know about the Galaxy Note 9; a smartphone which is hardly even in concept yet! According to this foresight, the Note 9 will sport 12GB of RAM and that does sound a bit absurd at this point of time...

The Galaxy Note Edge is a dying smartphone, but Samsung still loves it. Well, at least T-Mobile does anyway! The Note Edge was the first of its kind from Samsung as it pioneered that iconic curved display for the Note series which has now become the staple for flagship Samsung smartphones. The curves have evolved so much since but the Note Edge has managed to hold its unique charm still today. It's good to see the latest June security patch make its way onto the smartphone via T-mobile.
While it may not be Nougat 7.0 (and it never will be unfortunately via official means), this OTA update does bring in as much as 96 bug fixes and loophole patches for the base Android OS. The version of the firmware is N915TUBS2DQE4 and you should be receiving it any time now if you are on T-Mobile. But what if you own an unlocked version of the Galaxy Note Edge in the US? Will you be getting the same? Technically you should but Samsung US has been absolutely negligent in regard to rolling out updates for its unlocked American variants recently, so that might take a while if it has not arrived on your smartphone already. It should be noted that Verizon users already got the same update for their Galaxy Note Edge smartphones about two weeks ago.
Head over to our firmware section to find all the latest available updates for your Samsung smartphones and tablets.
