OnePlus has officially confirmed that it is indeed about to launch its next flagship smartphone and the date is set on November 15. The company tweeted the following message on November 8 and confirmed what the rumor mill is still calling the OnePlus 3T.

"T-7: The @Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 (2.35GHz) is coming your way. Find out more on November 15."

Apart from the bump in processor as stated by the Tweet, Carl Pei has confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus device will also be sporting the same Optic AMOLED display as the OnePlus 3. As AMOLED displays provide punchier colors and deeper blacks to produce an overall better display quality than LCD panels, we were glad to hear that the rumor about OnePlus shifting to LCD in light of production issues with the AMOLED panels isn't true for now.

Speculations regarding other specs include a 4,000 mAh battery, redesigned OxygenOS powered by Android 7.0 Nougat and most astoundingly, 8GB of RAM! We are not yet sure that OnePlus will actually opt for 8GB of RAM, but it can happen. We will find out everything in a few hours from now as the world prepares for the launch of the next "flagship killer" tomorrow.

The OnePlus 3 is an extremely well made smartphone, especially considering the price and it's about to get even better. Engadget has received confirmation from the head of OnePlus's software department, Brian Yoon, that a beta build for the OnePlus community will be ready by the end of November. What this also means is that the final build of Android 7.0 with the new Oxygen OS on top will be reaching OnePlus 3 smartphones all over the world via OTA by the end of 2016. Considering that 2016 only has one more month left in it, it would be safe to conclude that the final build will land on the OnePlus 3 next month.

OnePlus isn't a company that's known for providing speedy updates, but that seems to have changed thanks to a pretty big decision. They have merged the development teams responsible for maintaining and updating the HydrogenOS in China with their counterpart for the international OxygenOS to create one unified strong software department that will provide their customers with much faster updates. In fact, even the OnePlus 2 will receive the upgrade to Android Nougat, later in 2017.

OnePlus is the pioneer in bringing flagship grade smartphones at an affordable price and unlike most other Chinese vendors who flood the market with offerings in every price segment, they stick to releasing one or two smartphones per year. This year, OnePlus is rumoured to release a second more powerful version of its OnePlus 3, aka the OnePlus 3T. While there have been no official confirmation regarding the handset, rumors are going haywire. Here's a short overview of what we have heard so far.

Improvements:

Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC will replace the older SD 820
Upgraded Sony IMX395 16-mp camera sensor with f/1.7 aperture and dual-core autofocus
Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed.

Pricing

According to Evan Blass (@evleaks), the OnePlus 3T will be priced at $80 more than the original OnePlus 3. If that is indeed the case then the 64GB version of the 3T might just be priced at $480.

Release Date

Rumors suggest that the OnePlus 3T will see the light of day in December and we tend to agree. A December release would mean a six-month gap in-between both the older OnePlus 3 and the upcoming OnePlus 4. There's also the Holiday season coming up, so December does seem quite likely, provided such a device actually exists of course!
