The next version of Android is going to be 4.4 KitKat, and because of that trademarked name, Google has partnered with Nestle to get the word out around. If you were wondering just when you should expect the next release to hit Nexus devices, Nestle may have just outed the time-frame.

Next month happens when Android 4.4 should be out and about already, according to an employee from Nestle's German arm. Responding to a customer's inquiry on Facebook, she or he said, simply, that the KitKat version of the OS will be available in October.

This comes to ‘confirm' previous rumors that spoke of the October 14 unveiling for that LG Nexus 5 plus the new software bits. Obviously, that date could still change, but at this point it is looking increasingly clear that October would be the month of KitKat. Or something like that.

Finally though, keep in mind the possibility that this particular Nestle employee was just employing a little bit of wishful thinking, and doesn't really have any insider information on the release date of the OS.

For your longest time, the Android community seemed fixated across the thought of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, and all sorts of amazing changes it turned out rumored being bringing to Google's OS. Fast-forwarding to today, we now know that this next version of Android will in fact be 4.4 Kit Kat, but that's not stopping some folks from still yearning the future of Android.

Below is a new concept video by the fellow named Craig Tuttle, it's really just one man's vision for Android 5.0, and now we ought to admit his ideas are pretty cool. The recording primarily targets bringing deeper Google Now cards integration, including introducing several changes to the notification bar.

You will also recognize that the idea video shows a fresh opaque white look, rather than the more traditional Android blue colors we know and love today.

Google has posted the factory images and binaries for the Nexus tablets and smartphone versions out there.  In case you haven't updated your Nexus devices to the newest Android 4.3 version, you can get it as follows:

• JSS15Q is available for the Nexus 7 (2013)
• JWR66Y is available for the Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 4, Nexus and Galaxy Nexus (yakju and takju variants)

The Galaxy Nexus 4, Wifi and HSPA Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 10 and GSM Galaxy Nexus all stick with build number JWR66Y and are referred to as "android-4.3_r1.1", while the Nexus 7 (2013) splits to a different path with build number JSS15Q and "android-4.3_r2.2". Sprint and Verizon versions of the Galaxy Nexus, along with the Nexus S, are seeing no factory image changes however.

Google has finally launched the web interface to their promised new service for Android users called Android Device Manager. The unimaginatively named service works similar to Apple's Find My iPhone, Samsung's Find My Mobile or HTC's HTCSense.com and helps you track down your (lost) Android device.

Locate and ring your misplaced device

• If you ended up dropping your phone between those couch cushions, Android Device Manager lets you quickly ring your phone at maximum volume so you can find it, even if it's been silenced. And in the event that your phone or tablet is out of earshot (say, at that restaurant you left it at last night), you can locate it on a map in real time.

Protecting your personal information and data

• While losing your phone can be stressful, Android Device Manager can help you keep your data from ending up in the wrong hands. If your phone can't be recovered, or has been stolen, you can quickly and securely erase all of the data on your device.

Availability and getting started

• This service is now available on devices running Android 2.2 or above; to use it, you also will need to be signed into your Google Account. There will also be an Android app to allow you to easily find and manage your devices. Stay tuned!

Google plans to officially launch the Android Device Manager for all devices running Android 2.2 or higher. The Android Device Manager will be deployed to nearly all Android devices via Google Play Services. 

Here's a few simpel features you can use to keep your device-and the data you store inside-safe and secure.

• 1. Lock your device screen. Whether you're on a phone or a tablet, it's easy to set up a screen lock. This is important to do in case your device gets left in the back of a car, or you're worried about someone picking up your phone and scrolling through your stuff. You can lock your device with a pin, password, pattern (or even your face!) by going to Settings > Personal > Security > Screen Lock.

• 2. Protect your phone from suspicious apps. We automatically scan Google Play to block and remove harmful apps. That makes Google Play the safest place to get Android apps. But Google Play can also help protect you even for apps you get elsewhere, like the web or a third-party app store. The first time you start to install an app from an unknown source, a message will pop up asking if you'd like Google to scan the file to make sure it's not harmful. Tap "OK" to let Google help protect you from harmful apps.
