Samsung promised a lot of things regarding Bixby during the launch event of the Galaxy S8 back in March. However, it disappointed fans across the world when Bixby was released with minimal features which did not even include basic voice commands that every other AI powered smartphone assistant has at this point of time. It only included Bixby Vision and a few other features like Bixby Home and Reminder; all of which has potential but feels incomplete nonetheless. That situation is about to change though as Samsung is now rolling out an update which will enable voice functionalities on Bixby. Currently, it is only going live in South Korea, but I am pretty sure the international rollouts should start within the next few days.

Now that voice command on the S8 is finally a possibility with Bixby, we will have to wait and see if it's actually good enough to do "everything" like Samsung claimed it would be during the launch event, or if it was just a gimmick. In any case, life is going to be hard for Bixby in the nations where Google Assistant is available for use. With its superior set of features, vast experience and the magic that is Google, the Assistant might prove too tough to compete with for Bixby; especially since the S8 also has it right out of the box!

As you probably know already, Samsung have been facing quite a few issues since the Galaxy S8's launch and although none of them are as large as what happened with the Note 7 (fortunately!), they are there nonetheless. The red tint problem have been bugging a few early adopters of the S8 and S8+ in certain sections of the world and Samsung started to address the problem a few days back when they released a fix for it in South Korea. They have now started to release the same update to its European customers.

The so called fix is however more of a "do-it-yourself" update than a patch really. After installing the update, users will now be able to control the RGB balance of the main panel, in addition to the edges (screen edge colour balance) where it reportedly looked more reddish than anywhere else on the display. There will also be a new option to make your phone look warmer or cooler, depending on your preference. Now we are just waiting for Samsung to address the more serious Galaxy S8 restart problem that some customers are complaining about. Have you faced any of these issues on your Galaxy S8 or S8+ yet?

The Q1 results are out and it shows that Samsung is still the number one smartphone manufacturer in India in terms of sales figures. It held the number one position in the immensely profitable Indian market with a share of 26%, which is double that of Xiaomi; the runner-up Chinese brand which is also enormously popular for its extremely high value handsets in the budget segment. The third and the fourth positions were held by Vivo and Oppo with 12% and 10% of the market share. Lenovo just managed to squeeze in at the fifth position with 8%, largely thanks to the Moto brand.

The mid-range section of the Indian smartphone market experienced a boom as the market saw an incredible 158% YOY growth, which is stunning, especially when compared with the current condition of the smartphone business in Europe and the US. Even the premium segment grew by 35% YOY and this is where Samsung (48%) had a close shave with its international arch rival; Apple (43%). It should be noted though that in all segments which includes feature phones, budget phones, mid-rangers, high-end handsets and premium flagships, Samsung came out on top and given how competitive the smartphone market has become in India, that's quite an achievement.

Ming-Chi Kuo from 9to5Mac is famous as the most prominent (and accurate) analyst in the world when it comes to Apple and its products, but every once in a while, he does give out some pretty interesting details about other famous brands like Samsung as well. As it happens, Ming-Chi Kuo has just made some interesting revelations which assert previous rumors that all of us had been hearing for a while about the Note 8. He believes that the Galaxy Note 8 will sport its "most important upgrade" in the form of a dual camera setup at its back.

Although we were pretty much all expecting that, he goes on to add quite a few exciting details to this little "revelation" as well. Apparently, the cameras will comprise of a 12-megapixel wide-angle CIS 2PD lens and a 13-megapixel CIS dual 6P (six element) telephoto lens. Along with dual optical image stabilization, there will also be the option to use 3X lossless optical zoom. He even excitedly predicts that the camera setup will produce images that will rival those taken by the upcoming OLED iPhone.

Kuo also goes on to mention that the Note 8 will sport a display with an 18.5:9 ratio and 1440 x 2960 resolution, just as the one seen on the S8+, but even bigger at 6.4-inches. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and the Exynos 8895 will likely be powering the Note as well.
