To put it as plainly as possible, it seems like the Note 7 incident has hindered the S8 this year in more ways than anyone would have liked. As was made evident by research, the Note 7 was catching fire because of a faulty battery. The problem arose from the fact that the housing of the battery was too cramped. As it turns out, Samsung is putting a battery inside the Galaxy S8 which is disappointingly smaller than our earlier expectations. We think the two facts have a very simple connection!

The leak by SlashGear shows us the batteries which will allegedly power the S8 and the S8+. The 3,000 mAh and 3,500mAh batteries shown here confirms what the leaks had been saying for a while now. In case you didn't figure it out yet, the 3,000mAh battery will be powering the S8 and the 3,500mAh battery will be powering the S8+. Additionally, it reveals that the batteries are being assembled in Vietnam by Samsung SDI, although the cell itself is made in South Korea. What do you think? Will a 3,000 mAh and 3,500 mAh battery be enough for the S8 series, given that they will be running the extremely power-efficient Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895?

If the latest report about the Galaxy S8 is to be believed, then Samsung may offer early adopters a moneyback guarantee! This is something that is unheard of in the world of smartphones itself, let alone in case of a Samsung flagship product. According to the source, the return will be unconditional and all eligible users will be able to return their Galaxy S8 or S8+ for a full refund. What is even more astonishing is the fact that the refund eligibility will extend to all handsets for a period of three months from the date of purchase!

This is of course a marketing strategy but it is one that is truly radical, provided of course, the report holds true. This opens up the question; what if people misuse the opportunity? Besides, after three months, what if someone just wants to get a new phone by returning their old handset? The risky venture is a direct result of the Note 7 disaster and the subsequent bad reputation that the incident gave Samsung. If it is true, then we are really interested to know which will be the regions where Samsung will unleash the offer.

Yes it is true; Samsung's most neglected flagship has started to receive the Nougat update. However, just like it was with the Galaxy Note 5, the update is only live in Turkey as of now. According to the source, firmware version XXU3CQC7 is now live via OTA in the region. More European nations should be getting the update in the coming days. If you are in Europe, be on the lookout.

Just as with the Galaxy Note 5 package, the update will probably weigh in at roughly 1.3GB. Samsung may be a bit late on releasing the update though, because according to previously released information, the S6 Edge+ should have started to receive Nougat by March 14. Nevertheless, like I always say in case of firmware updates, better late than never!

According to the same roadmap, the Galaxy A3 (2016) and the Galaxy A8 should get Nougat next. Although we are pretty sure that it won't arrive on the exact date, it seems like you can expect the OTA rollout to begin by the end of April.

Two of the major telecom networks in Canada have started to roll out Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge on their networks. As you might have probably guessed from our revealing title, it's Telus and Rogers. The update comes in accordance with Rogers' previously declared March 20 deadline and that's always good to see.

The firmware version released for the Galaxy S7 is G930W8VLU2BQB6 and for the Galaxy S7 Edge, it's G935W8VLU2BQB6. Rogers and Telus joins the rest of the carriers in Canada now as Bell, Virgin Mobile, Wind Mobile, Freedom Mobile and SaskTel had already released Nougat for the two handsets on their networks quite a while back.

Did you receive this update yet? If you didn't, then you might have to wait for a few days before being auto-prompted. Alternatively, you can check it out manually for peace of mind. Head over to Settings > About phone > Software update and search for it.
