Latest News - / LG - Posts

As always, Samsung's old rival from Korea is preparing its next smartphone to compete with the Galaxy Note 8 and the V30 does have a lot going for it, as far as the rumors are concerned. In order to give you a glimpse of what's to be expected from LG in two months, we have the following info based on rumors and leaks, just for you.

Specs

QHD+ flat borderless OLED display
Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
4GB/6GB of RAM
3,200mAh battery (non-removable)
IP68 Water resistance
ESS Quad DAC support, headphone jack
Dual rear camera
Wireless charging
Glass back

Release Date

It will most likely be showcased on August 31st; that is one day before the commencement of the IFA 2017 in September. If the date is right, then South Korea should see the phone being released by the end of September.

Price Tag

Rumor has it that the LG V30 will be priced at somewhere around 800,000 KRW, which is the equivalent of about $705. Unfortunately, the price tag will most likely not be that light in the US, given that the LG V20 itself was launched at $799!

To be perfectly honest, the V30 doesn't seem to have much which could give the Note 8 a run for its money at the moment. Nevertheless, given how costly the Note 8 will likely be, the LG V30 might just provide more bang for the buck, if the OLED panel rumor turns out to be true and if you can live without the stylus.

Although it isn't official yet, latest leaks are suggesting that Samsung will not be waiting till the IFA 2017 to showcase the Galaxy Note 8. Instead, they will be hosting a separate Samsung exclusive event in New York to announce the next Note in line. This event will allegedly be held merely days before the IFA begins in September and the date is expected to be August 26. Even if this turns out to be true, LG will be right on the heels of Samsung with their successor to the LG V20, the LG V30; which is rumored to be launched on August 31st, a day before the IFA commences.

Given that the LG V30 will be significantly cheaper than the Galaxy Note 8 (expected price is $700), Samsung could have some serious competition on their hands. While the LG V30 will in all likelihood, not feature a curved panel, it is possible that LG may finally shift to OLED panels with the V30. Combine that with excellent camera performance which the V-series is famous for and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 to get an idea of what to expect.

Although we are literally two days away from seeing the LG G6 in action at the Mobile World Congress, @evleaks has leaked a press render for the upcoming smartphone on Twitter. As you can see, the G6 shown here sports a shiny black color and is consistent with what we have seen so far in other leaked images and photos. Going by the leakster's previous records, we are pretty sure that this is the real deal that we are looking at here.

The dual rear camera setup with a flash in between can be seen along with the rear mounted fingerprint scanner placed just below it. Although the specifications are partly based on speculations at the moment, we do know that it will have a 5.7-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio. However, given that all reports are indicating that the G6 will launch with only a dated Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC and a 3,200mAh battery, one cannot help but feel a tinge of disappointment. Let's hope that the dual 13-mp cameras at its back and the new Quad DAC audio can make up for the old chip and the low-powered battery.

The LG G6 will be launched at the Mobile World Congress next month and we already know that it will be the first phone in the world to sport a display with 18:9 aspect ratio. While we did get our "first look" at the upcoming smartphone via a leaked render about a month ago, this is probably the real deal.

Although the image isn't exactly what I would call revealing, it does show a few things about the G6 that we had been expecting. The bezels look minimised and the source mentions that the screen-to-body ratio is actually more than 90%. The only other things which the image reveals are the front camera, sensors and the volume buttons at the left side of the phone. Until a more revealing image leaks out, take a look at the specs which we already know about, mostly via the courtesy of rumors.
