It has now been made official by LG that the upcoming G6 will sport the world's first QHD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The 18:9 aspect ratio will be spread over a 5.7-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels. The 1440 x 2880 pixels resolution will give the G6's display a ppi of 564. According to the Korean electronics giant, the wider ratio will allow for better immersion while consuming media or playing games. Additionally, it has been mentioned that the G6 will also support better multi-tasking with dual screen functionalities.

The display on the G6 won't feature a touch cover glass, something that has so far been necessary in order for a smartphone to be touch-responsive. Instead, LG's in-TOUCH technology will make use of touch sensors embedded into the very LCD panel itself. What would be the point of that you may ask? LG says that it will result in a more sensitive touch response and improved sunlight visibility. Not to mention the fact that the lack of the touch cover glass on top will allow for the G6's display to be as slim as just a single millimetre!

2017 is almost here and as usual, all OEMs around the world are preparing to launch their new flagships for the new year. LG is still one of the biggest names in the business, but lately, they have been struggling in terms of sales. The company is of course, depending on the upcoming G6 to get themselves out of the rut that they seem to have fallen in recently. We have a few renders and a bit of info on the LG G6 for you today that may give us an insight onto what the Korean giant has planned for 2017.

The leak by Shai Mizrachi (brought to us via the courtesy of Android Authority) shows a design language that's not much different from what we saw last year on the G5. However, at 72.43 mm thickness, it's probably going to be more than a millimetre slimmer than the G5 (73.9 mm). Other rumors around the phone indicate that the G6 may sport a 5.2-inch/5.5-inch QHD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4GB/6GB of RAM and a dual camera module, reminiscent of the LG V20. If you are wondering if the G6 will have modular capabilities like its predecessor, nobody knows yet. Do you like what you see, or is the G5-ish design putting you off?

Although LG V20 was the first phone to sport Android Nougat 7.0 right out of the box, the LG G5 has only just begun to receive its first taste of Nougat since last week, when the Sprint versions began to receive it via OTA. Reports all around have confirmed that the T-Mobile version of the LG G5 has just started to receive the 1.2GB OTA file. As expected, the update package also contains the November security release.

Even though the details or the news itself has not yet been updated on the support page of T-Mobile, users on Reddit and XDA Developers Forum have revealed the build number to be NRD90U. In case you want to search for it manually, go to Settings > General > About phone > Update centre > System update > Check for update. In case it has already landed on your LG G5, we recommend using a Wi-Fi connection to download the rather large file. We are pretty sure it's more or less the same build that we saw on the LG V20.

The update to Android Nougat 7.0 for the LG G5 is now being rolled out as you read this. It was expected as an Australian carrier named Optus had revealed earlier that the OS was being tested on the G5 and is almost at the verge of being ready for a final release. However, as of now, we have reports which state that the update is only available in South Korea. As confirmed by LG, it will also be hitting models all around the world in the next few weeks and more information will become available on the package locally, in respect to the geographical region concerned.
In the official statement at a press conference, this is what LG pointed out;

"At LG, we know our customers want the best, most up-to-date mobile experience,"

"Getting software updates to our users faster than the competition is our way of demonstrating that LG is committed to supporting our products and customers to ensure they have a positive ownership experience."

We must admit that we are seeing a much faster approach to providing updates to their flagship smartphones from the big boys such as Samsung and LG this time around. Don't forget that beta-testing of Android 7.0 will begin for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge from November 9 as well, and the final build could be hitting the two devices all over the world by the end of 2016 or early 2017.

With all that's going on with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7's exploding batteries and the iPhone 7's somewhat disappointing unveiling, there is a perfect market for LG to introduce its flagship V20 smartphone to the consumers now. The chances of LG seeing a much better sales number with the V20 than it did with the V10 or the G5 is pretty high because at least a portion of the consumers looking to buy a new flagship device would be tempted to try out a premium device from a reputed company that has kept the 3.5mm jack and doesn't blow up while charging (hopefully!). Unfortunately, there is no definite news about the smartphone's availability, except the fact that it is expected to be released near the end of 2016.

This has been confirmed that the LG V20 will be the first smartphone in the world to be shipped with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed. Have a look at some of its other prominent features and decide for yourself if you should hold on from upgrading for just a little while longer.

The only two things we did not like about the V20 so far are the 3200mAh battery which could have been slightly larger and the lack of water-resistance that both the Note 7 and the iPhone 7 has. Other than that, the LG V20 looks to be a solid smartphone and it might be a smart move if the Korean OEM pushed the device a little earlier than rumoured.
