Nexus 6

The Nexus rumors is increasing day after day. Today, what appears to be the Moto Nexus 6 has just gone through FCC regulations and got certified.

The FCC filing is for a 6-inch Motorola device with the model number XT1254 with support for LTE Bands 2, 4, 5, and 17, and GSM and WCDMA frequencies at 850MHz, 1700MHz, and 1900MHz. Those bands match up with AT&T and T-Mobile, which are the carriers that tend to be targeted by unlocked devices like the Nexus line.

It is also possible that this is a variant of the Moto S, which is said to be almost identical to the Nexus physically, but will carry the usual Motorola software enhancements. We're less convinced that this is the Moto S though, because the rumors have said that Verizon would get the Moto S first.

Nexus 6

Motorola-made Google Nexus 6 has been spotted in public, yes, we got the first alleged photo of the Nexus 6. Well, these photos is not yet confirmed... It may be the Nexus 6 or NOT. The device looks big (5.9" screen rumored) and it's running Android L (check ourt the software keys).

The phone is obviously in a snap-on case of some sort, so we don't have a look at the complete edge, but what we can see aligns with our previous posts the power and volume buttons are positioned more toward the middle of the device, a center-aligned headphone jack, and Android L with new solid status bar icons and smaller, more spaced-out navigation buttons that we've seen a couple of times now. There is one more icon in the status bar, though. We aren't sure if this is a notification from some third party app, or if it has to do with something Googley installed on the device, but it's there.

Moto Nexus 6

The Motorola Nexus 6 is Real, we have the Specs, the Design and the release date (October, 15th).

As the rumors have suggested, the Motorola-made Nexus 6 will look like a larger Moto X, complete with the same aluminum frame as Motorola's new flagship. It's also said to have a volume rocker and lock button closer to the middle of the side for easier access and black front-facing stereo speakers.

In terms of specs, we're told to expect a 5.9-inch 2560x1440 display, 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, 2-megapixel front-facing shooter and a "3200+ mAh" battery. The Nexus 6 will run Android L, which is said to be Android 5.0, and include support for Motorola's Turbo Charger.

The design of the new Moto X is a nice evolution from the original Moto X, especially with the aluminum ring around its outside, so it's nice to hear that the new Nexus is expected to feature the same design. That 5.9-inch display is sure to be a turn off for some folks, though, and it's said that there's been no credible info to suggest that a smaller version is in the works. Good thing that the Nexus 5 will likely see Android L/5.0 as well.

Nexus 9

After soooo many HTC Nexus 9 rumors, we finally have a confirmation. WSJ has now confirmed from its official sources that Google and HTC are indeed working on a 9-inch tablet that will be revealed very soon. No confirmation on the market name "Nexus 9" yet.

According to the sources, Google switches between brands to build the Nexus devices to prevent any one manufacturer from gaining monopoly, which should explain why it went with HTC despite HTC not having a particularly strong track record when it comes to tablets.

HTC refused to comment on the matter but Google said:

"Android is a vibrant ecosystem, and many of the industry players are doing very well. There's room for many partners to do well and to innovate with Android."
