Now that some major handsets are out of the way, Samsung has started rolling out the August security update to the unlocked Galaxy A5 (2016). If you are wondering which regions are getting the security patch at the moment, the good news is that reports suggest all regions more or less are included. So head over to your phone's Settings menu and see if any OTA package is waiting for you in the Software Downloads section.
The download is decent sized at 215.08MB so it's best if you hook your phone up with your Wi-Fi first. Firmware version on the update is A510FXXU4CQH2 and it addresses a total of 40 vulnerabilities on the Galaxy A5 (2016); 12 of Samsung's own patches and 28 CVEs common to all smartphones running on the Android OS. This update will also install the Facebook app on your smartphone for some reason! Let us know if you see any major changes in the smartphone's UI after the update. Enjoy!

While South Korea had been enjoying the full functionalities of Bixby for a while now, the rest of the world has hardly had any taste of that whatsoever. According to a recent report by SamMobile, multiple major Bixby updates have just hit a lot of the handsets in India, UK, South Africa, Germany and Netherlands among others. Any Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus handsets in these regions should be able to update the eligible Bixby apps now.
In case you did not understand what's going on yet, then join the club, because we are not entirely sure either! From what little information is available on the matter, it looks like Samsung is updating Bixby apps on the two devices in multiple regions, but in most of them, Bixby doesn't even have voice functionalities yet. Then again, reports from Germany are indicating that Bixby Dictation is now useable in the country. As Samsung did not make any public announcement yet, the situation is quite confusing at this point of time. Do let us know if you see anything worth mentioning.

The Galaxy S7 has just started to receive the Security Maintenance Release from Samsung in Netherlands. However, we are pretty sure that by the time you are reading this, it has already started rolling out in a few other locations as well. Unlike the 600MB August security patch which the Galaxy S8 received just a few days ago in a number of regions, this one is a very slim 23MB OTA package. Nevertheless, it still contains fixes for all 50 of Android's security fixes for the month, along with 12 of Samsung's own.
Although the initial report concerned the Galaxy S7, more recent reports are indicating that the same update is also rolling out for the Galaxy S7 Edge, which is good news. In a somewhat unexpected turn of events, a post by SamMobile notified us that the Galaxy S8 and S8+ in Netherlands is yet to receive the August security update, which is strange, given that it's usually the latest flagship handsets that get the latest updates before any other handsets.
