The Nokia 5.3 is called the future-proof phone that costs almost half of the entry-level premium smartphone. HMD Global's Nokia 5.3 costs just under $199, and it will surprise you with its software, features, and design as a daily phone. The Nokia 5.3 was already gone on sale back in April this year but is yet to get an official launch in India. And now HMG Global has sent out the invites for an online event on August 25. The invite says it will be giving a brief session virtually ahead of the launch. The virtual session will be done on Microsoft Teams and will begin at 10 AM IST. It is believed the Nokia 5.3 will be announced on the same day.
The company has also reported that the 2020 models of the Nokia 125 and Nokia 150 may be announced on the same day since these device has already received certification by the Bureau of Indian Standards since June. The rear panel of the phone is made of plastic and frame a 6.55-inch display screen with 1,600 x 720 pixels. Due to its cover, it is quite manageable but may not fit in the small hands. If you are watching YouTube videos on the mobile phone, you might want to increase the brightness up to full most of the time as the auto-brightness may not work for you.
The phone house a selfie camera at the top of the display with a small bezel on the bottom. The primary camera is of 13-megapixel with a 4/1.8 aperture and is joined by a 5-megapixel ultra-wide, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The front camera is of 8-megapixel. To take pictures at a low-light situation, it offers a night mode, but the shots it takes are hardly better than those you take without it.
The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor with 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB of RAM options. The Nokia 5.3 offers similar software experience as the Google Pixel phones with Android One and no special user interface. The phone will receive software updates for the next years, including Android 11. The device features a massive 4,000mAh battery that is enough for medium-level usage with a single charge throughout the day.

India is the first country to receive the latest security patches for the month of August on the Galaxy S6 Edge and other countries should follow soon. The 63MB download will change your current firmware version to G925IDVS3EPH2 and will a security vulnerability on the device, that Samsung has termed as "critical." If you are thinking that this patches up the QuadRooter vulnerability that we have been hearing so much about, you would be wrong. To the best of our knowledge, QuadRooter only affects Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is powered by the Exynos 7420 SoC. Even if there is a connection, it was not mentioned in the changelog.
There are of course other general improvements in performance and optimizations, and if you want to go into the details, just consult the changelog while installing the update or check the screenshot above. Hopefully, the regular S6 will also be getting the same update, but we are not sure if or when it is coming. In the meanwhile, be wary of shady apps and always check the permission list before allowing the software access to your device.

If the latest report by Naver from South Korea has any truth to it, then we are probably going to be looking at the Galaxy Note 8 earlier than we thought we would. As per the report, Samsung is not going to wait till the IFA in September, but is going to announce the next Note at a Samsung exclusive event in New York City on the 26th of August.
Given that the Galaxy Note 7 was launched on August 2 last year, the August 26 date is still almost a month after the one year mark and that's exactly why this report may very well turn out to be true. Whether or not this change in schedule was brought on to get an edge over the iPhone 8 is unclear at this point of time. Truth be told, I am highly doubtful than an earlier than iPhone release will really affect the Note 8's sale by much. The reason I say this is because people who buy iPhones are usually the ones who buy well... iPhones! Samsung on the other hand, might also be eager to bring its first Note device to the market ever since the Note 7 disaster.

A South Korean magazine recently reported that Samsung may hold an unpacked event on August 5 to unveil Galaxy Note 20 series along with Galaxy Fold 2 and smartwatch. Another South Korean publication has revealed that due to ongoing Covid-19, Samsung will hold this event online instead of the traditional way of conducting such events.
According to the magazine, Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy Z flip 5G and Galaxy watch 3 along with the Galaxy Note 20 series and Galaxy Fold 2. The news has been confirmed by a few other people on Twitter. It is safe to say that if these phones and watches get to unveil on Aug 5, it will be available for purchase from August 20.
There isn't any information on the specs of the Galaxy Z flip 5G yet. Earlier model Galaxy Z flip was launched by Snapdragon 855. The foldable device earlier didn't support 5G connectivity. It is not clear yet that which processor will power the Galaxy Z flip 5G. Some rumors suggest that the upcoming 5G will be available with a base storage of 256GB.
The Galaxy Note 20 is expected to feature a 6.4-inch flat S-AMOLED display whereas the Galaxy Note 20+ will have a curved a 6.9-inch S-AMOLED display. These devices will be powered by 4300mAh and 4500mAh batteries. The Note 20 plus is rumored to feature a 108MP primary camera lens in its rear-mounted triple camera system. The Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to feature a much larger display of 7.7-inch. The online unpacked event will be streamed live across different social media websites as well as, Samsung's official website.

After releasing the S5 LTE-A, Samsung announces as new variant of the Galaxy S5 called the Galaxy S5 4G+ and it be launched in Singapore first SingTel's new LTE-A network on August,23rd.
The Galaxy S5 4G+ is mostly similar to the US model except for one major difference; this model runs on the Snapdragon 805 chipset, same as the Korean model. However, unlike the Korean model, the 4G+ does not have a QHD display but rather the same Full HD display from the US and international models.
The Galaxy S5 4G+ will be available in six different plans on SingTel, it will priced starting from $688 (Singapore Dollar).

If @evleaks is right (which he mostly is) then Android 7.0 Nougat could be officially released this month. As the rumors regarding the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 have recently been hinting towards the smartphone being launched with Android Nougat right out of the box on August 2, could the Samsung device be the first phone to officially showcase it?
We have bad news for Nexus 5 owners though as Evan Blass is pretty clear in his Tweet that Google will only be updating its devices that came out after the Nexus 5. This means that if you own a Nexus 5, you will need to wait for custom ROM versions from modders if you want to experience Android 7.0 on your three year old Nexus.
We are looking forward to the graphical enhancements which the OS will bring to the table for Android users, but there are other exciting features that could be featured in the final build as well. For example, the Sustained Performance Mode, that is designed exclusively for developers. There's also the new system of upgrading your device with major updates, without having to wait for it to finish as the task will utilize a second partition on your phone's memory to download and install itself. Once you restart the phone, the changes will start to take effect. There are plenty of other features that we got a glimpse of in the five Developer Preview builds released so far, but we will have to wait and see how many of them actually make it to the final cut.

There have been quite a few rumors going around the internet recently about Motorola's next flagship smartphone, the Moto X4. Those rumors found new vigor after an image of the X4 was posted by hellomotoHK on Google Plus. The same post managed to start another rumor about the smartphone as it hinted towards a release date that is set on August 24.
As expected, the image shows us a glass-metal body, with glass in front and metal on the back. On the white model, two black dots can be seen flanking the physical Home button in the middle, which probably also doubles as the fingerprint scanner. The volume and the power buttons seem to be equally spaced on the top-right side of the device.
The circular camera protrusion at the back has been the subject of much speculation, but all we can see from the picture is the Moto logo and the dual tone flash. We agree that the image does indicate that the X4 might house a USB Type-C port, but will have to wait to confirm that one.
Earlier, Android Headlines had reported that the flagship smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch 1440p AMOLED display and will be powered by the Snapdragon 820 chipset. We wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be true as the Snapdragon 820 is currently powering most Android flagships in 2016 and the Motorola team is known to use QHD AMOLED displays in their high-end phones earlier as well. We will find out more in the upcoming months, leading to August 24.

Although Google Nexus and Pixel devices have mostly been updated to the latest security patch for the month of August already, Samsung smartphones and tablets are not exactly known for getting fast updates from the OEM, especially when it comes to the company's low-mid range devices. However, that stereotypical thought process doesn't seem to apply anymore as Samsung has now released the August SMR for the mid-range Galaxy J7 Prime in a number of regions.
It is quite astonishing to see the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus still being stuck with the July security update, while the J7 Prime is being updated to the latest patch. Also to be noted is the fact that Samsung may have released the update even before Google this month as some users had received the August security patch as early as August 1. In addition to all the patches and fixes that Google has built into the update, Samsung has also added a dozen patches and fixes of its own.

Surprisingly enough, Samsung started rolling out the August security patch to the Galaxy J7 Prime on the first day of August, even before Google but that's a different report which you can read here. This report here is all about the Galaxy S7 Edge receiving the August security update from Samsung in Mexico, as per a report by SamMobile. If you have news regarding the same update making rounds in other regions as well, do inform us in the comments section.
The patch fixes 40 security issues in total for all Samsung smartphones, with 28 of them being from Google and the remaining 12 from Samsung. Firmware version on the OTA package is G935FXXU1DQH3 in Mexico, but it will vary slightly, depending on what country you are in and what version of the Galaxy S7 Edge you are using (carrier locked, unlocked, Exynos, Snapdragon etc.).

Although the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are usually the first ones to receive the latest security patches from Samsung, they were beaten to the August security patch by the Galaxy J7 Prime this month. Nevertheless, the two flagship handsets have now started to receive the August SMR from the OEM yesterday. As of now, SamMobile Reports that only UAE, Turkey and Germany are receiving the update, but it's only a matter of days before Samsung's respective departments in every other region also starts sending out the same update via OTA to the S8 and S8 Plus.
The August patch is a really heavy one at 600.35 MB, so you better fire up your Wi-Fi before downloading this one. You can check out the firmware version and other change details in the screenshot above if you want. Just like all other security patches from Samsung, this one also has 12 of Samsung's own fixes and patches for its own overlaying UI, in addition to the 28 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures present in the base Android OS.

The Galaxy S7 has just started to receive the Security Maintenance Release from Samsung in Netherlands. However, we are pretty sure that by the time you are reading this, it has already started rolling out in a few other locations as well. Unlike the 600MB August security patch which the Galaxy S8 received just a few days ago in a number of regions, this one is a very slim 23MB OTA package. Nevertheless, it still contains fixes for all 50 of Android's security fixes for the month, along with 12 of Samsung's own.
Although the initial report concerned the Galaxy S7, more recent reports are indicating that the same update is also rolling out for the Galaxy S7 Edge, which is good news. In a somewhat unexpected turn of events, a post by SamMobile notified us that the Galaxy S8 and S8+ in Netherlands is yet to receive the August security update, which is strange, given that it's usually the latest flagship handsets that get the latest updates before any other handsets.

Now that some major handsets are out of the way, Samsung has started rolling out the August security update to the unlocked Galaxy A5 (2016). If you are wondering which regions are getting the security patch at the moment, the good news is that reports suggest all regions more or less are included. So head over to your phone's Settings menu and see if any OTA package is waiting for you in the Software Downloads section.
The download is decent sized at 215.08MB so it's best if you hook your phone up with your Wi-Fi first. Firmware version on the update is A510FXXU4CQH2 and it addresses a total of 40 vulnerabilities on the Galaxy A5 (2016); 12 of Samsung's own patches and 28 CVEs common to all smartphones running on the Android OS. The Galaxy S5 is still receiving timely updates from Samsung, although it is over three years old at this point. It's not that we are complaining of course! In fact, it is always nice to see Samsung showing some love to older handsets and the Galaxy S5 was indeed the king of Samsung's roster back in 2014.
As per reports, the August security patch is making rounds in Europe at the time and if your S5 still hasn't got it, it will in the next day or two. Most other regions will get the same update as well, but the timeline will differ depending on your location. The OTA update will come in at a size of 74.96MB and the firmware version on it will be GH900FXXS1CQH1.
In case you are wondering, we are yet to receive any confirmation regarding whether or not the Galaxy S5/S5 Neo will receive an upgrade to Android Nougat. Nevertheless, we will keep you updated on the news as always.

Contrary to every other place in the world, the United States of America is not a good place to buy an unlocked Samsung device if you want fast updates! In the last few years, it has been established that carrier versions will always receive the latest updates before unlocked versions in the country. We are not sure if it's a business decision, but it isn't an unlikely explanation. Nevertheless, the good news is that the unlocked S8 and the S8 + have finally started to receive the latest security patch from the OEM.
In case you are wondering, the same patch was already released previously on all major carriers which include AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, USC and Virgin Mobile USA. The 600+ MB package will arrive via OTA and the firmware version on it will be G950U1UEU1AQH3. Check to see if it has already arrived from Settings > Software Update. If it isn't there yet, just wait for a few hours and try again.
