Forgetting our passwords is something that most of us have faced at one point of time or the other, but Samsung might be preparing a solution for their forgetful customers according to a new patent which they have filed. Apparently, Samsung is developing technology which will allow for palm scanning to help you remember your password.

As far as we can tell, the front camera of the smartphone will be used to take a picture of your palm and the palm scanning technology will start dropping hints if you happen to have forgotten the password in question. This essentially makes it safer than face scan actually, since people will likely have a hard time finding a clear picture of your palm anywhere! Even if someone is looking at the screen while you scan your palm in for a hint, they won't have any real idea about the password as the smartphone will only show you the hint and that too in a cryptic manner, hidden along your own palm lines. As you already know the password and the associated hint, it will be enough for you to remember it. All this sounds amazing, but we will have to wait and see how it works in the real world on release.

Samsung has now officially developed and patented the graphene ball tech which makes lithium-ion cells used in smartphones last a lot longer. As per reports, the utilization of graphene ball can not only make li-ion batteries last up to 45% longer, but it can also make the cells take charge up to five-times faster than before! To put that in a real world scenario, consider the fact that the Galaxy S8's 3,000mAh li-ion battery takes roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes to get fully charged from 0%-100%, but with graphene ball, it would take about 15 - 20 minutes or less to do the same! If that's not incredible, then we don't what is!

Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT) was the division responsible for developing the technology, but that's no surprise since the division has been behind developing breakthrough tech for quite a while now. Another one of its recent successes include introduction of the cadmium-free Quantum Dot display tech used in Samsung QLED TVs. Does this mean that we will see the Galaxy S9 debut with unbelievably fast recharge times and incredible battery life? Not really! It's just a patent and there's no guarantee that grapheme ball will be ready by the time Samsung goes into mass production with the Galaxy S9.

It was just about a week ago that the Galaxy S8 Microsoft Edition became available for purchase via their online store and now the Galaxy Note 8 Microsoft Edition is available there as well. It's the same Note 8 though in terms of hardware, but the Microsoft Edition does have a few Microsoft exclusive software bundled in with it. Cortana and Microsoft Explorer stands out among the list of included software as the most prominent ones, but there are also a few others included.

You can buy the handset right now for exactly $929.99, but you would probably do well to hold out till the Black Friday deals hit. Do keep in mind that the Microsoft Edition only includes the 64GB version, so you are out of luck if you were looking for the higher storage version. Is there a reason that justifies buying the Galaxy Note 8 Microsoft Edition over the standard edition? Umm... Not really! Nevertheless, feel free to do so if you wish! The included software might be a nice touch.

The term "borderless display" doesn't sound as amazing as it did a few months ago because almost every company out there has a model with minimal bezels now. I say minimal because no phone can truly skip bezels entirely, at least not yet. However, a latest rumor brought forth by SamMobile seems to indicate that the Galaxy S9 will take the term bezel-less even more seriously than before by opting for a screen-to-body ratio as high as 90%! That's an improvement over the already impressive 84% scree-to-body ratio which the Galaxy S8 sports.

The images you see here have been leaked from a smartphone case manufacturer, Ghostek and as you can probably guess, the case is indeed designed for the upcoming Galaxy S9. Aside from the narrower bezels, if the images are accurate, it looks like Samsung will finally be positioning the fingerprint scanner in the middle of the S9's back and that would definitely be an improvement. What it would also mean is that the S9 won't have a fingerprint scanner embedded into the display either.

It has now been about a week since Samsung first started to roll out the Android security updates for some of its smartphones and now it's time for the Galaxy Note 8 to receive the same OTA package. One would think that being the company's latest flagship handset, it would get the update sooner than the other handsets, but they would be wrong. Although some carriers (including T-Mobile) did already start to ship the update out to the Note 8 in the US, this one is rolling out in China (SM-N9508) and Hong Kong (SM-N9500).

Check out the following to get an idea of what's to expect with the OTA security package of the month.

·         Patches for 61 Common Vulnerabilities in the Android OS

·         Patches for 6 of Samsung's own UI vulnerabilities

·         Security patch against the Krack Attack Wi-Fi vulnerability

If you own a Galaxy Note 8 in China, you should be prompted to download and install firmware version N9508ZMU2BQK1 any time now. If you are in Hong Kong with your Note 8, firmware version N9500ZHU2BQK1 should be making rounds any minute now.

Head over to our firmware section to find all the latest available updates for your Samsung smartphones and tablets.
