Latest News - / Samsung - Posts

Multiple reports surfaced on the internet earlier about the Galaxy Note 8 refusing to turn on once the battery reaches 0% and the phone is automatically switched off and now Samsung has decided to accept some responsibility for this and admit that there is indeed an issue with the battery of certain Galaxy Note 8 devices. It is to be kept in mind that a few Galaxy S8+ users are also complaining about a similar problem and there is no reason to believe that they are wrong either. While this issue isn't as dangerous as last year's Note 7 disaster, it puts yet another blemish on Samsung's ability to supply their users with capable batteries. The good news is that so far, most reports suggest that Samsung has replaced the faulty devices.

It seems at this point that issues are mostly limited to the Qualcomm Snapdragon variants only, although that's not a fact which has been set in stone. Even though they let out a statement earlier which vaguely delivers the message that they might be considering taking responsibility for the bricked phones, clarifications regarding what exactly is the problem has not yet been provided by the OEM.

Every time we hear about troubling news regarding Samsung's Galaxy Note series, we can't help but feel a sense of Déjà vu from 2016. Up till date though, nothing major had surfaced that could put the Note 8 in jeopardy this year, but the latest news report from PiunikaWeb is suggesting that the Note 8 could be facing a big problem. Some users of the Note 8 have officially complained to Samsung and on the official forum of the company about their device getting switched off permanently.

Apparently, some devices could not be switched on after they had shut down automatically on losing the entire charge and going down to 0%.  All attempts at charging these devices have since failed and the whole device has not responded in any way to user interactions. It won't even start in Safe mode unfortunately and if this turns out to be a widespread problem, Samsung could have a serious issue on their hands once again!

If there's just one thing that has been consistent about rumors in relation to Samsung's upcoming foldable smartphone (which has been coming for years now!), then it's the fact that they have all been mostly wrong! Make no mistake, there have been enough evidence around to convince us that Samsung does indeed have a foldable smartphone in the pipelines, it's just that any news regarding its real world release have turned out to be wrong. The latest victim of this phenomenon was the rumor regarding the SM-G888N0 being the Galaxy X, aka the mythical foldable Samsung smartphone that's coming.

When the SM-G888N0 showed up on Bluetooth SIG and the National Radio Research Agency for certification purposes, almost everyone was convinced that this truly was the foldable phone that Samsung is prepping for release in 2018. As it turns out, the SM-G888N0 had nothing to do with foldable displays at all. The model in question is a tough new device that has apparently been built for South Korean train personnel. It's a part of the LTE-R network project that's about to launch in the country and the world for the first time. While that in itself is quite an interesting topic, you will have to wait longer to hear any new updates regarding the elusive Galaxy X...

The official launch date might still be a few months away, but that has not stopped the upcoming Galaxy S9+ from showing up on the latest Geekbench benchmarking test. As you can tell from the screenshot included, the performance is quite remarkable as the upcoming flagship handset from Samsung managed to score 2422 on the single-core test and 8351 on the multi-core test. Both of these scores are the highest ever scored by any Samsung device. Aside from letting us know how powerful the Galaxy S9-series will be in 2018, it also gives us a clear idea about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip's computing powers. It would be quite interesting to see how Samsung's Exynos equivalent stands up to this chip.

In addition to showcasing power, this test result also managed to leak two other details about the Galaxy S9+. Firstly, it shows the model number of the handset as SM-G965 and secondly, we can see that the test was done while the handset was running Android 8.0 Oreo. We will find out more before the MWC 2018 arrives in February.

It only seems like yesterday that the Galaxy S8 and S8+ was launched, but it has already been nearly a year now it's almost time for the S9 and S9+ to make their entries. Thanks to a render video and multiple rendered images by MySmartPrice, that phase of leaks which precedes every major Samsung smartphone release has now officially started. Check out the videos and images included and visit the source to see even more images.

While one must admit that the S9 does look very similar to the S8 in these renders, there are quite a few changes as well. We have listed the highlight points below for your convenience.

·        No in-screen fingerprint scanning

·        The iris scanner is going to stay

·        The fingerprint scanner stays at the back, but has been moved to the middle, right below the camera, like it should have been on the S8/S8+/Note 8

·        Presence of a dual camera setup, although rumors indicate that only the S9+ will be getting two rear cameras this year

·        They have retained the 3.5mm audio jack like everyone should

·        It's slightly thicker than the S8

Do you like what you see? Will you be upgrading to the S9 or S9+ next year? Let us know it all in the comments.
