Inbox

Google has just announced Inbox By Gmail Today. It's a new take on email, dubbed Inbox. The Free app/service includes reminders, bundles similar messages together and highlights important messages. Inbox looks like a cross between Mailbox and Google Now.

An Assists feature attaches relevant information, such as telephone numbers, opening hours and maps, to your reminders and emails. Inbox is invite-only at the moment, but you can request one from inbox@google.com or get one from a friend who has invites to spare. The service will be available on the Web (Chrome only), iOS 7+ and Android 4.1+. Versions for tablets and other modern browsers are also in the works.

Inbox

Google doesn't intend for Inbox to replace Gmail. Actions you take in either product will show up in the other. Inbox uses your existing Gmail and Google usernames.

Inbox highlights the key information from important messages, such as flight itineraries, event information, and photos and documents emailed to you by friends and family. Inbox will even display useful information from the web that wasn't in the original email, such as the real-time status of your flights and package deliveries. Highlights and Bundles work together to give you just the information you need at a glance. Find More info on Google.com/Inbox.

Cyanogen

You may probably use the Cyanogenmod made by Cyanogen Inc. on your Android Smartphone. According to a report in The Information, Cyanogen Inc. rejected acquisition interest from Google. Google's Android chief, Sundar Pichai reportedly discussed the search giant's interest in the small company in a recent meeting with its top brass.

Instead of becoming part of Google, Cyanogen is in late-stage discussions for Series C round of financing. The company is seeking a valuation that is close to $1 Billion, despite the fact that it is barely generating revenue.

Cyanogen

Potential Cyanogen investors have reportedly been told that the company has struck a deal with the Indian manufacturer Micromax. The latter's smartphones will be outfitted with custom Android ROMs, a la OnePlus One as part of the agreement.

Hang-outs

It's finally here, Google's Hangouts App is now being updated with Voice Integration. Today, Google Voice is being rolled into Hangouts which will enable Voice SMS and voicemail via a popup in the conversation list. Go check your Hang-outs App Now.

Hangouts

Parts of this seems to be working fine, but others not so much. For example, messages sent to your Google Voice number will appear in Hangouts (mobile and desktop) just fine. Replies, however, appear to be busted in both locations right now. Presumably this is all just a bump in the road early in deployment. Of course, someone might have simply thrown the switch too soon.

Also note that if you turn on Voice integration, your Voice app will stop receiving messages-everything will go straight to Hangouts. The Voice website will also be updated with a notice that your texts and voicemail are being routed to Hangouts. The Voice Chrome extension will be able to send SMS, but it won't receive them anymore. Hangouts App should get another update during this week for full Google voice integration.
