Latest News - / Samsung - Posts

As you probably know already, in an unexpected turn of events, Samsung has shown us a smartphone which could very well be the upcoming Galaxy S8.The OEM has released two advertisements in South Korea to promote their new Super AMOLED panels and in both ads, we see a smartphone which looks quite similar to what previously leaked renders of the S8 had revealed to us. As the chances of this being a coincidence are too small to be honest, I am of the opinion that these ads are in a way, the first Galaxy S8 teasers, albeit unofficially. Take a look at the screenshots in this article to get your first look at the upcoming flagship from Samsung (hopefully).

There will be two versions of the Galaxy S8 this year and both versions will have curved displays with a very high screen-to-body ratio. The Galaxy S8 Plus will have a huge 6.4-inch display, while the size of the display on the regular S8 will range in between 5.7-inch to 6.2-inch. If you are interested about the dimensions of the two devices, we have a leak for you which states just that. After the two ads which Samsung released recently to highlight their new Super AMOLED displays, most of us are quite convinced that we have already taken our first look at the Galaxy S8, courtesy of the manufacturer itself. However, we still do not have an exact idea about the dimensions of the upcoming flagship. As if to fill in that gap, GSMArena has revealed those dimensions for both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.

If the report is to be believed, then the regular Galaxy S8 will measure 140.14mm x 72.20mm x 7.30mm, while the much larger S8 Plus will have the measurements of 152.38mm x 78.51mm x 7.94mm. In case you are not aware, the S8 Plus will reportedly sport a 6.4-inch display while the size of the regular S8's display will range from anything in between 5.7-inch to 6.2-inch. Both the devices will have a curved/edge display.

What is interesting is that the renders are showing the older micro-USB slot rather than the expected micro-USB Type-C slot. What do you think about the case maker's renders? Are they accurate leaks or just fanciful renders?

If you have been following us then you probably already know that the release date of the upcoming Galaxy S8 has been a cause for much confusion recently. Initially, we were almost convinced that Samsung had no plans to deviate from its usual schedule of launching the S-series of smartphones at the Mobile World Congress, but a new report informed us that Samsung has decided to delay the date of revelation to April. The event will supposedly be a Samsung-exclusive event, held in New York on April 17. However, another report came in straight out of Korea which claimed that Samsung will indeed be showing off the Galaxy S8 at the MWC, albeit with a handful of units.

Amidst all this confusion, Korea has managed to produce yet another "report," which is now stating that Samsung will indeed be delaying the Galaxy S8 till April, but it will be launched on the 15th of April, rather than on the 17th. Which one do you think is the right date? Check out the links to read the individual reports and let us know what you think.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) just went through Geekbench, revealing most specifications to us in the process. The good news is that it will be running on Android Nougat v7.0, straight out of the box. The device in question has the model number SM-J727P and is possibly a prototype of the upcoming J7 (2017). As you can see from the screenshot, it managed to score 889 and 4200 on the single-score and multi-core tests respectively. While this isn't groundbreaking, it's not bad either for a mid-range device.

As per as the specs are concerned, check the list below to find what was revealed.

Model number: SM-J727P
5.5-inch 1080p display
Unknown Qualcomm processor clocked at 2.21GHz with Adreno GPU
2GB of RAM
13-mp rear camera and 5-mp front camera
3,000mAh battery
16GB of internal storage with expandable micro-SD card slot
Android version: Nougat v7.0
Carrier: Verizon (rumored)

We are a bit disappointed to see that it will feature only 2GB of RAM, especially when 3GB has become pretty much the standard. Also, a 32GB internal storage would have been much appreciated.

The Galaxy S8 might have just gotten leaked by none other than the manufacturer itself! In what was the most unexpected move made by Samsung in recent history, they have just unleashed two ads promoting their new Super AMOLED displays on a smartphone that is more than likely to be the upcoming Galaxy S8. The phone featured in both the ads show us a device that's incredibly similar in design to what we have seen so far via the leaked renders of the S8. Check out the two ads to get an idea of what we are talking about.

If this is indeed a prototype of the Galaxy S8 which we are seeing here, then it will sport the rumoured high screen-to-body ratio, as well as an optical fingerprint scanner placed under the display. There is no Home button either, just as the rumors and renders had predicted. The bottomline is that Samsung is using a brand new phone for these ads which looks suspiciously similar to what the conceptual and leaked renders had been predicting about the Galaxy S8. Add this to the fact that Samsung is using this device to show off their new upcoming Super AMOLED panels and you might just be convinced that this is truly our first unofficial look at the upcoming flagship from Samsung.
