Although it has not even been a month since the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was unveiled, leakstars are already giving us titbits about the Galaxy S8, which is to be released in 2017. As reported earlier, the S8 is quite likely to sport a 4K display, mainly for VR content consumption. However, we have details from a Chinese source on Weibo today that indicates a dual rear camera setup for the S8. According to the report, one of the camera modules will be supplied by Sony, while the S5K2L2 module will be manufactured by Samsung themselves. Although the resolutions of the sensors are said to be 12mp and 13mp, which of these resolutions the S5K2L2 module will sport is unclear as of now.

The front camera will be a bumped up 8mp sensor next year, unlike the 5-megapixel sensors that we are now used to seeing even on Samsung flagship devices. Expectedly, the iris scanner that we are just getting used to with the Note 7, should also be there. In spite of the Galaxy S8 being far from coming into existence at this moment, we are quite sure that the rumors will keep coming as they always do. Nevertheless, going by how the "6GB RAM" theory turned out to be untrue in case of the Galaxy Note 7, we would not buy into anything too soon.

It is time for your daily dose of rumors and very few smartphones generate as much hype as the ones that surround the upcoming Samsung Flagship smartphones. Today however, we also have some news about the Galaxy X in addition to the Galaxy S8. To start with, it is very likely that the S8 will have a 4K display as Samsung seems to be in a habit of hiking up the resolution every third year and the QHD resolution has already seen two generations. A 4K display is on the cards also because it would definitely help with the VR content from upcoming VR headsets like the Google Daydream VR Project. The fact that a 5.5-inch 4K display was on show from Samsung at the Display Week Conference in San Francisco, further strengthens the suggestion.

Part of Samsung's Project Valley, the Galaxy X with a foldable screen is now rumoured to sport bio-blue technology as well. Of course, this one will also be a 4K panel, but with enhanced blue light filters for retinal protection and the ability to bend for a more compact and portable experience. Let us hope that these rumors for the next year turns out to be true as 2017 is fast approaching.

We have shocking news for you today as we have reports that a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has exploded in Asia while it was being charged. As you can probably imagine, everyone is trying to figure out what actually went wrong, but the only thing we know so far is that a micro-USB to USB Type-C converter was being used to charge the smartphone. Take a look at the photos to get an idea of the situation.

It is unclear as to where it happened exactly, but China seems to be the country as that's where the images came from. This follows news of Samsung Note 7 lawsuits in Ohio and Florida in the US.

After taking a look at the post-explosion photos, we are not entirely sure if the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 can be called "safe" anymore, unless someone comes up with a convincing explanation that says otherwise.

In the meantime, be sure to only use Samsung certified chargers, cables and converters with your Samsung smartphones. As a rule of thumb, no smartphone should be kept near a source of heat or where there is a chance of liquid damage. Other than that, we can only hope that this was a one-off case, brought on by faulty electronic equipments.

After the infamous scratch test video of the Note 7 that we saw earlier, we now have a video on YouTube that tests the smartphone's durability in a drop test and compares the results with that of the Note 5 and the iPhone 6s. We found the video on the YouTube channel of Zach Straley and this one actually checks out if Corning's claim of the Gorilla Glass 5 protected phone being able to survive falls from as high as shoulder height is true or not.

The results seen in the test is encouraging to be honest, although not perfect at all. As it turns out, the Super AMOLED display of the Note 7 managed to remain functional even after it was dropped from the highest point in the series of drop tests. However, in the very first drop, the back of the Note 7 cracked, while both the iPhone 6S and the Galaxy Note 5 remained in much better shape. This led us to believe that the Note 7 isn't protected by Gorilla Glass 5 at its back, although we are not fully sure about that. After the disastrous results of the scratch test, it was good to see that Corning Gorilla Glass 5 did actually manage to provide the Note 7's display with good shatter-resistance.

As reported earlier, YouTuber JerryRigEverything has posted a video on YouTube that clearly showed the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection failing the scratch test usually performed by him on all popular smartphones. When we say "failing," what we mean is that it turned out to be significantly less scratch-resistant than the older Gorilla Glass 4. If you have not checked it out already, take a look at the video below to see what we are talking about.

In their defence, Corning has put forward a few arguments in their interview with Android Authority. They pointed out that the Mohs hardness picks were used in an "uncontrolled manner" and the loads on the picks used by the YouTuber were not monitored. According to the company, the video is invalid as the damages seen on the Note 7 were a result of metallic transfer, a phenomenon which transfers a softer material onto a harder one, after the two come in friction with each other. To be honest, we just think that Corning Gorilla Glass 5 lost its scratch resistance to a good degree, in order to provide for shatter proofing.
