OnePlus has officially confirmed that it is indeed about to launch its next flagship smartphone and the date is set on November 15. The company tweeted the following message on November 8 and confirmed what the rumor mill is still calling the OnePlus 3T.

"T-7: The @Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 (2.35GHz) is coming your way. Find out more on November 15."

Apart from the bump in processor as stated by the Tweet, Carl Pei has confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus device will also be sporting the same Optic AMOLED display as the OnePlus 3. As AMOLED displays provide punchier colors and deeper blacks to produce an overall better display quality than LCD panels, we were glad to hear that the rumor about OnePlus shifting to LCD in light of production issues with the AMOLED panels isn't true for now.

Speculations regarding other specs include a 4,000 mAh battery, redesigned OxygenOS powered by Android 7.0 Nougat and most astoundingly, 8GB of RAM! We are not yet sure that OnePlus will actually opt for 8GB of RAM, but it can happen. We will find out everything in a few hours from now as the world prepares for the launch of the next "flagship killer" tomorrow.

Smartphones are blurring the line between them and desktop computers nowadays and Xiaomi is about to blur that line even further with their upcoming Mi Note 2 Pro. According to a screenshot posted by AndroidPure, the upcoming handset from the Chinese manufacturer will sport beyond flagship grade specs like 8GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 CPU, clocked at 2.6GHz! The superphone will also have an in-built storage of 256GB and Google's latest and greatest Android OS Nougat will be running on it right out of the box. However, the only catch is that this "screenshot" could very well be a fake, much to our dismay.

As we now know that the previously rumoured launch date of the Mi Note 2 Pro (September 24) turned out to be wrong, it still is a bit of a mystery as to when it will actually be released. Since the Mi5s and Mi5s Plus was just launched in China, the date for the Mi Note 2 Pro's launch could be further away than rumors had originally predicted. In case you are not aware, these two are also packing the Qualcomm SD 821 chipset and enhanced camera capabilities that the OEM has declared to be better than even those sported by the flagship grade Samsung and Apple smartphones. Considering that the smartphones also cost about half of what an Apple iPhone 7 or Samsung Galaxy Note 7 would cost, things are getting really tight for the big boys.

The ASUS ZenFone AR has been confirmed at the CES 2017 in Las Vegas and it's a beast in every sense of the term. The ZenFone AR is made with virtual reality and augmented reality in mind; therefore it has built-in support for Google Tango & DayDream as expected. Apart from the insane 8 gigs of RAM, the smartphone is powered by multiple other absolute premium-end hardware specs as well.

A customized Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC with vapour cooling system for AR and VR functionalities

5.7-inch Super AMOLED QHD (1440x2560 pixels) edge-to-edge display with a screen to body ratio of 79%

8GB/6GB RAM

23-megapixel Sony IMX318 camera with TriTech+ autofocus system, dual-PDAF, second-gen Laser Focus, 4-axis OIS, 3-axis EIS, continuous-focus and 4K video recording

8-megapixel front shooter with f/2.0 aperture and an 85-degree wide angle lens

128GB/256GB of internal storage with hybrid nano SIM/micro-SD card slot

3300mAh battery

USB Type-C, Bluetooth v4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11ac

Exclusive Asus ZenUI VR 360 degree app support on PhotoCollage, Gallery, and ZenCircle applications

Everything about the Asus ZenFone AR is premium and up to date, except may be the SD 821 chipset. Make no mistake, it is still the most powerful Qualcomm chip till date, but given that the Snapdragon 835 has already been announced and it will be better than the SD 821 in both power-efficiency and performance, Asus may have missed a trick there.

Now that we all know that the LeEco Le Pro3 is on the verge of release, LeEco seems to be all set to unveil two new phones once again. The company has been really at it in 2016 with new releases hitting markets around the world every few months or so. Nevertheless, one cannot disagree that they do bring absolutely top end hardware at unbelievable prices. For example, the LeEco Le Pro3 is coming with a Snapdragon 821 SoC but is expected to cost only around $340 or less. Unfortunately, we don't have much info about the two mysterious upcoming phones from the Chinese OEM, except the image that you see above.

The good thing is that the image does reveal a curved display and if it is truly that then we could see the first curved screen LeEco smartphone in November. On the other hand, rumors around a LeEco smartphone with 8GB of RAM have been flying around a lot lately. Could it be that the rumoured Le 2S with 8 gigabytes of RAM is about to make an appearance next month with a curved display? We certainly hope so!

In a market that's filled with smartphones and tablets which sport 2GB of RAM and where 4GB is still the choice for plenty of flagship devices, LeEco is probably developing a smartphone that will sport 8GB of RAM! Considering the fact that we have only just started to see 6GB RAM in a smartphone, this is surprising news indeed.

According to the rumor, the upcoming flagship smartphone from LeEco will not only have 8GB of RAM, but it will also sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 CPU that's significantly more powerful than even the mighty SD 820. If the rumor is true, then the phone will possibly be almost as powerful as a mid-range laptop running on Windows. There should be a 25-megapixel rear camera accompanying all that processing power as well. The report suggests that it should be available for purchase at a price of around CNY 3,000/€405/$455, which is certainly not that much, considering the hardware!

This news, if proven true, will definitely raise the question, how much is too much? Nonetheless, with the advent of Android N, which will support significantly better graphics than Marshmallow, the OS might actually be able to make use of all that memory. As the RAM within an Android device is shared in-between the processor and the graphics card, the memory is undeniably responsible for the device's graphical performance.

When it comes to leaks, few can beat the Chinese social networking website Weibo as popular leaksters from Asia often choose the platform to unleash unofficial reports about technology. This time around, an image and certain details about the HTC 11 have been leaked on Weibo that point towards quite a beastly device from the Taiwanese company. Take a look at the leaked image above and the rumoured specs below to get an idea of what we are talking about here.

5.5-inch edge-to-edge QHD display
Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC
6GB/8GB of RAM
256GB internal storage
3,700mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0
Dual 12-megapixel cameras at the back and an 8-megapixel selfie cam in front

While the specs do look very impressive, we are a bit sceptical about the 8GB RAM though. We are not entirely sure that HTC will bump up the RAM count on their next flagship smartphone from 4GB on the HTC 10 to 8GB on the HTC 11. It is more likely that the HTC 11 may sport 6GB of RAM instead. I guess we will find out more as we inch closer to 2017.

It was a big disappointment for us enthusiasts when the Galaxy Note 7 was released with just 4GB of RAM last year. It wasn't that performance took a hit or the 4GB of RAM was insufficient for multitasking by any means, but it was still disappointing because of the fact that every rumor till about a week before the launch was speculating that the Note 7 would sport 6GB RAM. The rumor mill is predicting something along the same line this year as well because the latest leak found on Weibo is suggesting that there will be an 8 gig variant of the Galaxy Note 8 as well.

According to this rumor, the Note 8 will come in two RAM variants; the standard 6GB and the "Emperor" version with 8GB. It wouldn't even be surprising if the Note 8 "Emperor" variant was also launched with double the standard storage of 256GB (as rumored). The only problem with the rumor is that the source is also claiming to know about the Galaxy Note 9; a smartphone which is hardly even in concept yet! According to this foresight, the Note 9 will sport 12GB of RAM and that does sound a bit absurd at this point of time...
