Samsung

After Apple sued samsung to ban the Galaxy S III sales in the US and Australia too, Samsung lawyers decided to fight back, Samsung picked a 3G-related patents that could potentially ban the sales of some of Apple's iPhones and iPads, so it can have some leverage in the case Cupertino is waging against it.

Well, Samsung's 3G IP is licensed which precludes a ban from happening, but Samsung WON the lawsuit against Apple and it should pay for damages to Samsung. Here's Samsung Official Statement:

"Samsung welcomes the decision of the court in The Hague, which again confirms that Apple makes free use of our technological innovations. In accordance with this statement, we will recover adequate damages that Apple and its products have caused."

Well, HARD LUCK APPLE!

G Note 2

The rumor for a 5.5-inch made with plastic substrate instead of glass comes courtesy of a Korean website, and nobody but Samsung could vouch for the validity of that claim. The source also claims that it will have a 12MP camera, whereas we've heard before it will sport an 8MP shooter, so it would all be some wishful thinking.

Well, This may be a surprise, but the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet might actually work as a cell phone too. As in a cell phone that you can insert a SIM card in and use to make calls. Evidence in support of this rumor comes from a Galaxy Note 10.1 hands-on video posted below.

In the Video they doesn't make any phone calls for the duration of the video. However, they bring up an application called "Teléfono" (Spanish for "phone"), which seems to be a working dialer. The tablet is branded for the Mexican carrier Telcel, which is why the interface language is set to Spanish.

Samsung New CEO

Samsung is doing pretty well these days and the company's new CEO vowed to address some of its weaker spots in his inaugural speech. "A particular focus must be given to serving new customer experience and value by strengthening soft capabilities in software, user experience, design, and solutions," said Kwon Oh-hyun.

What rose Samsung to Android prominence and gave it the title of the world's largest phone maker, was the edge in hardware components of its own make like processors, screens and memory. When it comes to industrial design and user interfaces, things can be improved, and that is precisely what the new CEO will be targeting.

Samsung Apple

According to ABI Research, Apple and Samsung have captured 50% of the global smartphone market. What's even more impressive is the fact that the two companies share 90% of the generated profits in the segment for the same period. Samsung's Best selling phone in Q1,2012 is the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy S 2, Apple's best selling smartphone in Q1,2012 is the iPhone 4S.

The main question, which ABI Research report has posed is which manufacturer will sweep in and take the third place. Nokia and RIM seem to be neck and neck here, with important announcements in the pipeline for the second half of this year. Sony is also showing ambition with the recent string of budget friendly announcements, and so are the two Chinese giants, Huawei and ZTE.

AT&T SGS 2

This deal won't last long, It's only their for 48 Hours and the device will go "Not available". So if you want one hurry up!

Mali 450

The chip designers from ARM don't sit still, even though they've cornered almost the entire mobile market. They lifted the veil at an industry conference over the Mali-450 graphics processor, which at the same clock speeds will be twice faster than the Mali-400, that is in the Samsung Galaxy S II, since it will have eight instead of four cores.

This will put its performance on par with the overclocked Mali-400 in the Galaxy S III, and, of course, manufacturers can overclock Mali-450 in its turn to achieve a significant performance boost.

Mali 450

The 6xx series with the Midgard architecture will be replaced in its turn with something called Skrymir, circa 2014, and we don't even dare to imagine the possibilities of that one. Mali-450, however, will bring powerful graphics to mid-range phones that won't break the bank, and we are all for that.
