Nexus marshmallow OTA

 

Google has officially released the final version of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The company is currently working on developing Marshmallow factory images for its Nexus lineup.


The official Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates will be rolling-out Over-the-air (OTA) by early October. Here's a list of the devices that will get the update and an ETA (estimated time of arrival) for each device.

 

Nexus OTA

 

ETA List of Official Marshmallow 6.0 OTA for Nexus devices :
• Huawei Nexus 6P (angler)  -  Pre-installed
• LG Nexus 5x (bullhead)  -  Pre-installed
• HTC Nexus 9 (volantis, volantisg)  -  October,2015
• ASUS Nexus 7 [2013] (razor,razorg)  -  October,2015
• Moto Nexus 6 (shamu)  -  October,2015
• LG Nexus 5 (hammerhead)  -  October,2015
• Google Nexus Player (fugu)  -  October,2015

Please Note: Factory Images will be available for these devices on the first week of October, if you don't like manually flashing the update wait for the OTA to hit your device.

 

Marshmallow OTA

 

Google has ended the support of older devices like Nexus 10, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 as they will stay with Lollipop 5.1.1 but they will keep getting critical security fixes. Keep your eyes up for future updates.

 


Android Nexus Marshmallow

 

Most of the Google Nexus devices is expected to get the Marshmallow update officially through a system Image, which comes first always, or via Over-the-air (OTA) update which will start rolling-out by Early OctoberHere's the a list of all Confirmed Google Nexus devices that will get Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

Please Note: Nexus 10 (mantaray) and the Nexus 4 (occam) will not be moving to Marshmallow.

Nexus 6 5.1.1

 

Verizon's Google Nexus 6 has just got its official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, the update is currently available Over-the-air to all Nexus 6 users in the USA, What's New ? Lots of bug fixes and performance improvements along with a new Guest Mode.

To get up and running, navigate through Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates, and you'll then be able to download and install Android 5.1.1 OTA on your Nexus 6.

Android Updates

 

Android "M" is almost here and it looks like Google will set some new rules regarding software updates. One of the most popular problems facing Android users is "Updates", even if you have a Nexus device.

 

Google is looking to end the confusion once and for all, according a new report. Android "M" will set a lifetime for updates which makes it explicitly very clear "How long the device will be supported ?" so that you will know how long you'll get official software updates for your Android device.

Google Nexus phones running Android M will get 2 years of major OS version updates to future Android versions and 3 years of security updates after the OS release or 18 months after you buy a device from the Google Play Store, whichever is longer. Other manufactures should announce their updates lifetime plans too, check the info below for more information.

 

Android "M" Update Lifetime:
• Major System Updates (OS level updates): 2 years
• Security Updates: 3 years after OS release
• Security Updates: 18 months after date of purchase from Google Play Store.

 

Updates Lifetime support Schedule:
• Nexus 4: OS updates done, security updates until end of 2015.
• Nexus 7 (2012): OS updates done, security updates through this summer 2015.
• Nexus 7 (2013): OS updates until Q3 2015, security updates until Q1 2016.
• Nexus 10: OS updates done, security updates until early Q1 2016.
• Nexus 5: OS updates through Q3 2015, security updates through Q3 2016.
• Nexus 6: OS updates through Q3 2015, security updates through Q3 2017.
• Nexus 9: OS updates through Q3 2015, security updates through Q3 2017.

HTC Nexus 9 Lollipop 5.1.1 update

 

This is the first time to see a Google Nexus device lacking behind in Android updates!... The HTC Nexus 9 users has just received their official Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OTA update, while other Nexus devices like Nexus 10 is getting Lollipop 5.1.1 update.

Nexus 9 update to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is on its way to Nexus 9 owners, and it's around 23MB in size. After applying it, you'll be on build number LRX22L. As the minor version number jump from 5.0.1 to 5.0.2 implies, this one should be all about the bug fixes.
