Phonebuff recently conducted a drop test comparison to see if the Galaxy S7 Active really is as rugged as the manufacturer makes it out to be. There were five rounds involved in the test and they were the back-drop test, the bottom-drop test, the side-drop test, the face-drop test and a bonus durability round which involved continuous drops by the test team.

The S7\'s glass back gave way to minor damage on the very first round when it developed spiderweb cracks after the back-drop test. The S7 Active on the other hand, developed only a few negligible marks on its rugged back. The second round saw no clear winners but the S7 once again showed signs of injury on the side-drop test, while the Active was completely protected by its rubber casing. The S7 got completely destroyed in the face-drop test as its display shattered and cracked painfully after the drop. The Active version, confirmed Samsung\'s claim of the device sporting a shatter-proof display (from 5-feet max) by not showing even a scratch, post the face-drop. The team gave up when the S7 Active remained \"active\" after dropping it about 50-times from a considerable height during the bonus round. In fact, it could still make calls without any issues even after such a shocking ordeal!

The Tougher cousin of the S7 proved that you are not going to pay the higher price of $795 for nothing, should you choose the S7 Active. It is exclusive to the US and can only be bought from AT&T. The hard-hitting device is available in Sandy Gold, Titanium Gray and Camo Green color options.

PhoneArena just published a leaked image that was supposedly taken from an upcoming official Samsung teaser and sent to them by one of their anonymous sources. Provided that the leak is bang on, the image reveals two things to us. Firstly, it seems like Samsung will indeed be calling the next Note smartphone, the Galaxy Note 7. Apparently, this will be done in order to avoid any chances of the consumers thinking that it is behind the Galaxy S7 or the upcoming Apple iPhone 7, in terms of technology. Although it isn't written in text, one can see the "7" clearly in the image. The second revelation is quite self-explanatory as the leak contains the text, "WRITE ON THE EDGE OF SOMETHING GREAT." This of course, signifies the dual Edge display that we have been hearing about for a while now.

If this report is proper, then both popular theories about the Note 7 have turned out to be dead on, as per the trend with tech-rumors these days. The release date for the Galaxy Note 7 is expected to be set in the first week of August, but the unveiling will probably happen by the end of July.

A new UI is being tested on the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 in China and Korea. So far, it's known just as the "New Note UX." Although it is still too early to comment on any aspect of the interface yet, a few things did come in light. Perhaps the most obvious and significant change that Samsung will bring onto their smartphones with the new UI is the absence of the app drawer. Additionally, we can also see that the app icons resemble those seen on the iOS, with their uniform shape and size. There is also the revamped Settings and apparently, descriptive texts are being replaced in favor of indicative icons, throughout the New Note UX.

After looking at the screenshots and going through the available info, we cannot help but notice that all the changes point to an UI that's quite similar to the ones found on popular Chinese smartphones. It would make sense if this was something that the Korean OEM was developing to cater specifically to their customers in the Asian market, but reports suggest otherwise. There is a chance that Samsung will be using this UI (post development) in all its future devices and in all markets around the world. What do you think? Do you like what you see?

A recent report based on a survey conducted by The Reputation Institute suggests that Samsung is the most trusted brand for teenagers and anyone else who was born in or after the year 2000. Considering the fact that no other smartphone manufacturer made it to the list apart from Sony, the report is an indication of the amount of trust that people put in the Korean manufacturer's phones. Even though Sony did make it to the list, we are inclined to believe that it is more due to their PlayStation line of products than their smartphones.

This survey and its results are based on the quality of the manufactured products, employee treatment, innovation in the specific line of business and the conduct of the company as a corporate member of the United States. In all their studies across the country on millennials (people born on or after the year 2000), The Reputation Institute found that while shopping, most of them had an affinity towards the products that were made by Samsung. Samsung is also one of the most successful companies in the US as a whole and this result just unveils one of the reasons as to why the MNC is so successful here.

The Galaxy S7 is still going hot and we already have rumors circulating about next year's Samsung Galaxy S8. Among these rumors, the most popular one seems to be concerned with the display of the flagship smartphone. It speculates that the S8 may feature an Ultra High Definition 4K Super AMOLED panel. Considering that the display will only be a 5.5-inch one, some may ask if it is even necessary to make it 4K, and they would probably be right. There's a limit to what the human eye can perceive and on a 5.5-inch display, UHD might just be overkill. Nonetheless, the UHD resolution would definitely improve VR experience on the S8 and we are sure that is the main reason as to why Samsung might opt for such a high resolution display in the first place.

This assumption or rumor originated after Samsung showcased one of its 5.5-inch Ultra High Definition panels at the SID tradeshow, 2016. Since it has been predicted by analysts that Samsung will start manufacturing these displays on an industrial scale in a matter of months, it would actually not be very surprising to see the panel making its debut with the S8. There is also the trend of Samsung endowing its flagship smartphones with a higher resolution display after every two years and it has already been two years since the S-series started sporting QHD panels (S6 and S7).
