The Next Galaxy

We are waiting for Samsung's major press event in New York on August,13th. The event will be focus on the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 edge+ phablets.

Today, Samsung released a new Teaser joined by a countdown timer to the event, depicts the three devices stacked on top of each other, but it's about as vague as it gets.

It looks like that the Galaxy S6 edge+ is on top, its curved edge gently accented. The Galaxy Note 5 is underneath, only it's facing down, so you can see the curve on its back, similar to the one of face of the S6 edge+. The S-Pen has been popped-out, with the groove in its top end highlighted, further fueling our suspicions that a novel means of ejection has been implemented.

Unpacked 2015

And then there's the third device a substantially larger one, firmly in tablet territory. Given that the theme of the teaser is "BIG", it could be the recently announced Galaxy Tab S2 in its 9.7-inch incarnation, but the strips in the bottom part of the frame weren't present in the official images, so this one will remain a puzzle, if only for another week.

Orea

Google's Senior Vice President of Android and Chrome, Sundar Pichai, posted a video on Google+ today that shows the casting for Android L Name which is "Android Lollipop"... Along with the video he said "maybe next next next time Oreo?".

We think he Hints that the "Next Next Next" version of android, which is Android "O", will have the Name Oreo. We all love Oreo cookies (We know we do). So we got Android v6.4 name before we even get the final 5.0 version... lol.

The US Patent and Trademark Office have recently released information that indicates wireless charging might be on queue for the Apple iPhone 8. However, considering the fact that the patent was filed in towards the end of last year, it is a bit surprising that it did not make its way to the iPhone 7 this year like many had hoped it would.

If the wireless charging had made its way to the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus as expected, Apple would not be receiving so much hate for disabling the ability to listen to your headphones while putting your phone on charge. Theoretically, you can still do that with the help of the "AirPods" introduced by Apple or just a dock, as suggested by Phil Schiler. However, shelling out an additional $159 for the AirPods after spending a premium amount to buy the smartphone itself may not appeal to everyone to be honest.

Let us hope that we see more innovation from Apple in 2017 as this year will mark the tenth anniversary of the iPhone. Also, it makes one ask the question; did Apple purposefully leave the wireless charging out of the equation to introduce it to the "ifans" on the iconic smartphone's 10th birthday? If so, we are not impressed.

Now, some Un-confirmed reports from Samsung UK hints that Galaxy Note 2 and Note 2 4G won't be getting its official Android 5.0 Lollipop update in the UK. SamsungUK's official twitter account mentioned that "Note 2 will not be receiving the Lollipop update in the UK" which confirms the reports we got, there is still no clear reason why the update is not going to be released.

Last Month, Samsung Gulf confirmed that it won't be releasing the Lollipop update to the Galaxy Note 2 as well.

It's a surprise that Samsung announced it's going to update this 3 years old device to Lollipop. Worth mentioning, the Galaxy Note 2 was launched with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, Exynos 4412 CPU and 2 GB Ram. These reports are still unconfirmed, so there is still hope that Note 2 users may taste Lollipop after all, so Stay tuned for more info!
