If you live in India and own one of Samsung's Galaxy J5 (2016) smartphones, we have good news for you because reports from all over have confirmed that the handset is indeed getting an OS upgrade to Nougat 7.1.1, a version of the Android OS which is more recent than even the one on the Galaxy S8 (Unless of course, you running the Beta builds of Android 8.0 Oreo on your S8).
Now that you know the good news, time to give you the bad news! According to SamMobile and their sources, some users are experiencing an issue after installing the update. Apparently, the phone keeps crashing on various screens. If it turns out to be true in most cases, then Samsung will either have to release a patch very soon or stop with the roll outs in the region completely. Let's just hope that doesn't happen because it would mean another very long and unexpected wait for Galaxy J5 (2016) owners to get the already late update.

A lot of users on AT&T and T-Mobile are going to get a notification for updating their respective smartphones soon because both the networks have now released the October security update for multiple Samsung devices. According to the reports, the update is now live for the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy S7 Active on AT&T. The same patch is coming in for the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus on T-Mobile as well.

In case you are wondering why you have not received any notifications yet in spite of being on this list, that's probably because your phone belongs to one of the latter batches for the update. That basically means you will see the update any moment now, or it could take a few more days to reach your handset.

According to a post by Ice Universe (famous leakster), Samsung could very well be working on an ultra-compact smartphone which will likely sport a borderless display as well. When we say ultra-compact, what we really mean is less than 5-inches and although that would not be considered ultra-compact in the old days, it is most certainly so now. It's likely that Samsung will decide to go with the 18.5:9 aspect ratio on the mini display, which would practically make the phone even smaller, thereby justifying the ultra-compact moniker.
If you are interested, then you should know that there is no guarantee that the handset will ever see the light of day. Ice Universe makes that part clear in the post itself. SamMobile is of the opinion that this could very well be the Galaxy A3 (2018) or even the Galaxy S9 Compact, if Samsung does indeed decide to launch the handset of course.
