Apple unveiled the latest update tot its iOS operating system, iOS 13 at WWDC event in San Jose. Most interesting change for iOS 13 is the addition of a new dedicated dark mode that switches the system UI to darker color scheme. Dark mode isn't a new thing and we have already seen it by other mobile vendors. What's different is its schedule feature which automatically changes the mode based on the time of the day. Wallpapers have been optimized to feature variants for both light and dark mode themes. Dark mode is battery friendly and also easy to on eyes.

The new photo app lets users to edit pictures without any other software. New controls include vibrance, white balancing, sharpening, clarity defination, noise reduction, and vignette filters right from the photo app. It can also do the video editing at the advance level, something which used to require special dedicated software before this. The album app has also updated massively and has sorting functionality which allows users to find images from the gallery easily. Apple made a big emahasis on new privacy and security features. The iOS13 is now ‘sign in with apple' instead of your traditional email account. There are other small improvements such as you can share images without giving out your location based on your preferences.

Apple has also revamped the mapping data for its own map app. Using new technology, new map delivers significant details. Apple also introduces its own version of Google street view but Apple's implementation seems a lot more seamless and effective than what Google has achieved. Devices with A9 chips now support generation of your own Memoji stickers. iOS 13 also support external files on USB drives, SD cards or even hard drives. The new OS now supports showcasing of full file metadata, zipping, and unzipping files.

The entire tech world is abuzz with how ugly the tri-camera bump will look, if Apple does indeed decide to take that route, and I am personally bothered by it too, albeit for slightly different reasons.

You see, the very first time I looked at the three sensors, it aroused a sense of true aversion in me and that doesn't just happen. I am not the kind of person to be disgusted by a large notch, even though I don't care for it. However, the tri-lens setup actually made me feel weird because it inspires the trypophobia in me. In fact, most people who are calling it ugly, probably do not know it, but it is very likely that they hate it for the same reason too.

It seems like a marketing attempt by the company. - as they are looking for someone with active social presence, which would also affect the brand awareness for the company. Contest is calling it as ‘its concerns over tech addiction', prompting tech firms to help us manage the amount of time we spend on our smartphones. Apple launched its screen time feature last time, which allows iPhone users to see their total time being spent on their phones.

Apple's next iPhone might still be months from release, but the latest render video has left nothing to the imagination! Apple iPhone is one of the most expensive smartphones and now it is going to even pricier. Thanks to Trump administration who is threating to impose more tarrif on Chinese products, iPhone prices could go up to 14%, according to CNBC. This would make the cheapest iPhone XR $750 to cost us an extra $100. Whereas the most expensive one the iPhone XS max would cost $200 more - bringing its price tag up to $1,650. J.P Morgan said, "We estimate a price increase of around 14% is required to absorb the impact of a 25% tariff, keeping margin dollars for all players in the supply chain constant," J.P. Morgan said in a note to clients Tuesday.

With $200 billion on hand, Apple can easily afford this cost but most likely it is going to past down to the customer. The tarrif isn't a reality yet but on Monday, Trump tweeted that customers in U.S should buy stuff from other countries or something made in U.S. This is easy to say but in practical terms may be not easy to do. Apple has clearly stated that it iPhones may not get have a huge impact from this trade war but the prices of other products like Apple watches and Air Pods are going to be higher with immediate effect if the tarrif is imposed.

According to statista.com, throughout 2010, 304.7 million devices were shipped. In 2018, we see that 1.4 billion units were sold, which is way higher figure anyone would have anticipated a decade ago. It seems that market is already saturated with dozens of smartphone manufacturers already. Looking in the future, some people suggest that Apple may move its production unit to some other Asian country or should move to U.S completely. Bank of America Merrill Lynch estimates that iPhone prices would have to increase by around 20 percent if production was moved to the U.S. "We estimate the incremental cost of manufacturing iPhones in the U.S. could be 15-25%, and, if passed on to consumers could lead to demand destruction, in our view," the Bank of America said in a note.
