Apple always chooses Samsung as its main Hardware chipset manufacturer, Both companies worked together on A6, A7 and A8 chips. According to Etnews, Samsung started making the Apple A9 chipset using a 14nm FinFET design. Apple A9 chips will be included inside the upcoming iPhone / iPad devices Next year (2015).
Samsung has two plants capable of making this chip, but for an unannounced reason it will only be making the A9 in Austin, Texas. Work on that plant was started in late 2012 with a $3.9 Billion investment, specifically with the idea of making Apple chipsets.
TSMC will not let go of the lucrative Apple deal easily and has a competing 16nm FinFET Plus process ready to go. Even though TSMC made the bulk of Apple A8 chips, Samsung still got a cut so sourcing the new chipset from two companies is quite likely.
Today, Apple CEO, Tim Cook reveals he's proud to be gay. "So let me be clear: I'm proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me." Cook explains that "plenty" of Apple employees know he's gay and "it doesn't seem to make a difference in the way they treat me."
Cook admits the choice to come out wasn't easy as privacy is important to him, but the trade-off to inspire equality is clearly something the Apple CEO has considered. "I don't consider myself an activist, but I realize how much I've benefited from the sacrifice of others. So if hearing that the CEO of Apple is gay can help someone struggling to come to terms with who he or she is, or bring comfort to anyone who feels alone, or inspire people to insist on their equality, then it's worth the trade-off with my own privacy."
Looking back at the whole iPhone 6 Plus #Bendgate debacle, it's impossible for anyone to downplay the incredible effect a single video from a guy who thought it's a good idea to test out the phablet's rigidity generated. In fact so easy was the iPhone 6 Plus to bend that the original clip that started it all racked in views in the tens of millions on YouTube alone a fraction of the total interest generated throughout the web.
It's hard to pinpoint any one single factor that contributes to content's sudden rise to viral status, but in the case of #Bendgate, it probably had at least something to do with the fact that we were talking about an Apple product, Besides, there's just something oddly-satisfying about witnessing the destruction of tech that costs hundreds of bucks as if it's no big deal. But enough with the introduction.
When Apple took to the stage about ten days ago and announced that its new iPad Air 2 will be impossibly-thin, at 0.24 inches (6.1 mm), many of you have probably paused for at least a second to consider the possibility that it, too, will easily bend. It was only yesterday that the iPhone 6 duo went on sale in China and we're already hearing the first juicy reports.
Apparently, China Unicom, the country's second biggest carrier, has hired on-site tailors for its store in Shanghai to offer the service of pocket enlargement to those customers who opt for the bigger iPhone 6 Plus.
It's highly unlikely however that these "Pocket Plus" adjustment services are anything more than a cleverly devised publicity stint. Big-screen smartphones are no novelty in Asia and I doubt that customers there need any pocket adjustment to accommodate the late-to-the-big-screen-party iPhone.
