Security update for the month of November has finally arrived for the Galaxy A3 (2016) in Europe. The update is only available to the unlocked versions of course, as carrier versions usually get their updates a little later than the unlocked ones. The package contains all the 60 improvements and bug fixes found in the Google Android Security Maintenance Release for the month of November. Additionally, there are also 14 unique patches and fixes from Samsung, catered specifically for their own handsets.
Other regions should also start receiving the security package via OTA soon, but the exact timeline isn't clear at the moment. If you are in Europe however, you should get an OTA prompt to update your device very soon, if you have not already. Just to make sure, go to Settings > About device > Software Update and search for it manually. When it does arrive on your A3 (2016), the firmware version will change to XXU2BPK2, post the download and installation process. OTA updates are rolled out in batches, so it might take a week or so for it to reach all devices within the eligible region.

To get the latest firmware updates on your Samsung Android device, you'll have to Flash the ROM manually. The best way to do this is using Odin 3 tool and in this Tutorial we will show you the safest way on How to flash a firmware update to your Samsung's Android device.
Please refer to "How to safely flash official Android Firmwares to your Samsung Device Using ODIN 3" document to update your firmware.
Here's the list of updates for today.
The beta version of Samsung's Android Nougat 7.0 based firmware for the S7 and S7 Edge went live on select devices in China, South Korea, the UK and the US about a week ago and some of them have even started to receive the second build by now. The good news is, Samsung could also be extending the program to other countries as well, according to a report by SamMobile.
In what was a conversation between a Samsung Philippine's Customer Support executive and one of the aforementioned site's readers, it was indicated that Philippines could be next in line to receive the opportunity to test out pre-release versions of the Android 7.0 based firmware on the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge. While this little piece of info only concerns the devices in Philippines, we cannot help but feel that it could also be applicable to other regions as well, albeit a while later.
Nevertheless, this chat is far from being "proof" to the fact that the Beta program will be extended to Philippines, let alone other regions. In case it does prove to be so, rest assured that we will let you know as it happens.

It seems that the much awaited update to Android Nougat 7.0 for the Galaxy S6 isn't as far away as it was previously thought. A recent score on the Geekbench 4.0.3 benchmarking app clearly shows the Galaxy S6 running on Android 7.0 Nougat. Samsung usually tests out its devices with the latest Android OS on popular benchmarking apps, prior to releasing the final version. Therefore, the final build might be ready to roll out sooner than we thought.
Although the phone is almost two years old now, the scores are still pretty impressive at 1369 for Single-Core and 4577 for Multi-Core. They are in fact, even higher than what we are used to seeing on the Android Marshmallow versions. Then again, the entire thing could be fake as the Nougat update is still at its beta stage even on the S7 and S7 Edge.
The results were reportedly found on GFXBench, which seems to have removed the report from their database since then. Check out the screenshots, as published by GalaxyClub to take a look at what we are talking about here.

While it isn't surprising to know that an upgrade to Android Nougat is being prepared for the Galaxy Note 5 as Samsung did mention that they were going to do so earlier, it's good to know that they have included the Galaxy Tab S2 in their Nougat update list as well. Reports from reliable sources are indicating that a firmware based on Android N is being prepared for the both the devices right now. Unfortunately, no one can confirm when the firmware will be ready for OTA rollouts. If we were to guess, we would say that it won't be until we are well into 2017.
In the meanwhile, Samsung is already testing out the beta versions of its Android 7.0 based firmware on a limited number of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones. In fact, those that have been selected for the Galaxy Beta Program have already started to receive the second build of the firmware via a second OTA update as you read this.
