HTC WP8 event started with the announcement of "Windows hone 8X" as the first Windows Phone 8 device from HTC, the HTC Windows Phone 8X pack a 4.3" 720p screen with 342ppi density which is great for a windows phone 8 device. It measures 132.4 x 66.2 x 10.1mm and weighs 130g. The HTC Windows Phone 8X uses a polycarbonate unibody, similar to that of the One X.

HTC just unveiled its Second WP8 device, The Mid-range Windows Phone 8S, It's more compact than the 8X and should go easier on the wallet as it comes with with less capable hardware.

The HTC Windows Phone 8S is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset and runs on a 1GHz dual-core Krait processor and Adreno 225 GPU. It has 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal storage expandable via a microSD card slot. The screen is 4-inch capacitive Super LCD of WVGA resolution, which has Gorilla Glass protection.

Availablity is by early November and no word about the price yet.

HTC is trying to market its latest Windows Phone line-up that challenge is to let people actually use & try Windows Phone 8 OS fir daily use. So, Virgin Mobile Canda is offering its subscribers the chance to take an HTC Windows Phone 8S for a spin, Completely free of charge and with no strings attached.

Anyone who is willing to participate has to fill out a sign-up form, and the candidates chosen by Virgin Mobile will be given a unit for a period of 1 month.

In a rather bold statement, Chris Weber, Nokia's executive VP of sales and marketing has called out Samsung directly in anticipation of Nokia and Microsoft's press event scheduled for September 5th during Nokia World. The event is held to announce the Next Generation Lumia device with WP8.

IE10 browser in Windows Phone 8 in March this year scored 298 with 6 bonus points in the HTML5 Test, But Now the Browser got a New version with some Improvements scored 300 in the HTML5 Test.

While this is still well below the current score for iOS 5.1 (324 with 9 bonus points) it remains far ahead of the Android 4.0 browser, which will likely only start hitting the mainstream market around the same time Windows Phone 8 handsets are released towards the end of the year. At present Android 4.0, which was released in October 2011, is still only on around 3% of handsets.

The 300 HTML5 test point score is important, as it is a massive improvement on the IE9 score of 138 with 5 bonus points.

"Despite Microsoft Windows for PCs and laptops offering a range of built-in accessibility features, the current version of its smartphone operating system - Windows Phone 7 (formerly called Windows Mobile), a cut-down version of the familiar Windows for PCs - is not considered to be very accessible. It does not have a built-in screen-reader, and it is not constructed to allow others to write apps accessing the screen elements."

Finally, Microsoft Windows Phone 8 platform was just Officially revealed at Microsoft's 2012 Developer Summit. The announcement was made by the tech giant's very own Joe Belfiore.

First thing that he revealed about Windows Phone 8 was that the mobile platform will have a lot in common with its desktop and tablet counterpart. In particular, WP8 and Windows 8 will have a "shared core". In other words, the both systems will sport the same kernel, file system, multimedia support, and a lot more. As a result, manufacturers will have the convenience to use the same hardware drivers between both platforms, while developers will have an easier time developing better apps, according to Mr Belfiore.

Windows phone 8 will Support Muti-core chipsets, It will also support Higher screens resolutions screen resolutions like WXGA (1280 x 768 pixels) and HD 720p (1280 x 720 pixels). Microsoft mentioned that Windows phone 8 devices will support MicroSDHC cards up to 64GB.

Windows Phone 8 will also support NFC (Near Filed Communications) and all its useful applications can be found on the Marketplace.

Windows Phone 8 will come with a New browser Internet Explorer 10, which according to the benchmark (photo above) its faster then the Galaxy S III stock browser (take less time in loading).

A Senior Manager over at Redmond's Microsoft campus got hold of a Nokia Lumia 900 running a very early build of Windows Phone 7.8 and decided to tape the new homescreen and upload it to YouTube.

Microsoft denied today that they have any interest in building its own WP8 devices, telling InformationWeek that they have no plans to manufacture their own phone. This is of some note, as Microsoft usually denies all rumors as a matter of policy. We'd guess that they don't want to rile their Windows OEMs with silence, and so are changing their press policy in this specific situation.

Microsoft has reportedly given Windows Phone 8 developers access to the lock screen in order to allow displaying of their app notifications there. The sources said that there will be not one or two, but four options how to display notifications on the lock screen, giving both devs and phone makers the ability to customize the look and feel of their apps and devices further.

Here are Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 current guidelines for 3rd party app developers to build a lock screen presence, and we are glad something is definitely brewing in that department:

"Lock screen basics:

• To determine whether your app is a good candidate for a lock screen presence, you must understand the operation and limitations of the lock screen. A summary of the lock screen is given here. For more information, see the Lock screen overview.

• A maximum of seven app badges can appear on the lock screen. The badge information reflects the badge information on the app's Start screen tile. The badge (either a glyph or a number) is accompanied by a monochrome icon (logo image) to identify the app the badge is associated with.

• Only one of those seven apps can occupy a detailed status slot, which allows it to display the text content of the app's most recent tile update.

• The lock screen's detailed status tile does not show images included in that tile update.

• The user is in charge of which apps can display information on the lock screen, and which one of those apps can display detailed status.

• All apps that have a lock screen presence can also run background tasks. All apps that can run background tasks have a lock screen presence. An app cannot use background tasks without also claiming a slot on the lock screen.

• The notification queue is not supported by the lock screen's detailed status tile. Only the latest update is shown.

• An app with a lock screen presence, as long as it has set the Toast Capable option to "Yes" in its manifest, displays its received toast notifications on the lock screen when the lock screen is showing. Toast shown on the lock screen is identical to toast shown elsewhere.

• Tile updates, badge updates, and toast notifications are not specifically designed for or sent to the lock screen. You, as the sender, don't know if the device is currently locked. For an app with a lock screen presence, any notification is reflected both on the Start screen and on the lock screen."

When Nokia announced its Q2,2012 financial results, CEO Stephen Elop said that the upcoming launch of Windows Phone 8 would "be an important catalyst" for the company's range of Lumia smartphones.

The New York Times reports that Elops also gave more specific details on Windows Phone 8. Reportedly, Nokia's chief mentioned that WP8 would be released in October... Specifically 26,October. And this does make sense, as Windows 8 for PCs and tablets is also going to be out that month.

Today, Financial Times is reporting that Nokia will change its marketing tactics with the launch of its first Windows Phone 8 smartphone (which is expected on October). The new plan is to enter into a partnership to offer a new smartphone on the network of just one or two European carriers. The financial newspaper says that Nokia has had secret negotiations with a number of carriers including France Telecom, but no deal has been agreed to at this time. Another carrier that could get involved is Deutsche Telekom.

Nokia's current marketing strategy calls for the Finnish based handset manufacturer to flood all distribution channels with phones, getting them into as many hands as possible. The new plan calls for entering into agreements with a carrier or two that would support Nokia's models.

The Arabic support will apparently only come in the second half of 2012 around the same time Windows Phone 8 (aka Apollo) is expected to launch. The other piece of info is another confirmation that the company's first Windows Phone will ship in Europe this quarter.

PayPal has finally released an official app for the Windows Phone platform. The app looks great overall, and packs a solid feature set. Of course, the app doesn't have NFC support right now, but that's because NFC-enabled WP devices are coming with Windows Phone 8.

Still the app will allow you to request money, send money, check your balances, and best of all it does have the PayPal features. That means that even without NFC, you can find merchants nearby that accept PayPal and use the app to pay for your purchase in store. The Modern UI (aka Metro UI) looks great too.

Switzerland is known for its neutrality, although we wonder if that extends to smartphones as well. Meanwhile, mobile operator Digitec Switzerland has already started taking pre-orders for Windows Phone 8 models.

The HTC Windows Phone 8X and Windows Phone 8S just got their price tags in the UK and those seem pretty reasonable.

The two new WP8-smartphones already have their own pages on the Unlocked Mobiles website. The HTC Windows Phone 8 flagship, the 8X costs £398.98 ($646 / €487), while the 8S is priced at £224.98 ($364 / €280).

Clove is also having the HTC 8X and 8S available on pre-order for £399.98 and £224.99, respectively. Expansys has them too the price for the HTC Windows Phone 8X is £399.99, while the 8S pricing info is yet to be confirmed.

The Huawei W1 live pics is leaking, not long after we heard about the smartphone for the first time. The W1 back looks similar to the HTC One X but this device is running Microsoft Windows Phone OS.

The Huawei W1 is not a high-end device. It has a 4-inch WVGA screen, a 1.2GHz dual-core chipset with 512MB RAM, 5MP camera, and merely 4GB of on-board memory. Turns out, that Xbox Music is using your cellular data in some cases even when you are at home or any place where Wi-Fi is actually available. Needless to say, this can burn up your data allowance much quicker than you'd expect.

The problem is that the app cannot switch to another connection once it starts the streaming process. And when you lock the Windows Phone screen, it turns off Wi-Fi connectivity and starts eating up data from your carrier plan and not Wi-Fi.

Today, The highly anticipated Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 820 and Windows Phone 8X by HTC are now available to buy and personalize to your heart's content. The excitement has clearly built enough that people are reporting lines at some AT&T store locations.

The only potential damper is reports that some stores have a mixed bag of devices in stock, with some locations not having any HTC devices, but having a lot of Lumias. Other locations, it seems to be the exact opposite, with one person finding that one of the AT&T stores in Dallas, Texas only had one Lumia 920 in stock. If you recently Upgraded from windows Phone 7 to Windows Phone 8 device you probably faced this issue, In windows phone 7 purchased content from Zune Marketplace was synced to your Windows Phone device via USB and you would be done with it. You might thought that the new Windows Phone 8 tool, the Windows Phone App, would facilitate the same functionality for video content that was rented or purchased from Xbox Video, successor to Zune. Microsoft officially announced the eagerly awaited Windows Phone 7.8 update is going to see the day of light in early 2013. Sadly, it won't be here by Christmas.
