There have already been plenty of rumors about Samsung's upcoming flagship device, the Galaxy S8, but Samsung is putting on the screws to keep the rumor lid tighter now. A report by the Korea Herald states that Samsung has informed all its supply chain partners and employees to practice caution and keep any details about the S8 a secret. In fact Samsung is taking it seriously enough to send out an email to all its employees that makes no secret about the company's belief; leaks regarding operational secrets of Samsung could "cause irreversible ramifications, posing a great financial risk on the company."

Leaks have often worked in favour of products around the world as they help to build excitement and anticipation in the same way as marketing does. However, it seems that the disaster with the Galaxy Note 7 has shaken up Samsung quite a bit and they are unwilling to take any chances whatsoever. That being said, the task of keeping the S8 a secret is almost an impossible one to be honest. There are literally hundreds of suppliers that Samsung closely works with, in addition to the thousands of people employed under them. To keep it a complete secret, Samsung will have to dedicate far too much attention to innumerable aspects.

Samsung had to kill the Note 7 after a second worldwide recall was initiated and that has cost the South Korean giant quite dearly. Apart from the billions of dollars that Samsung had to shell out in order to recall all the Note 7 smartphones and refund its customers, there is no telling how much this incident will hamper Samsung's business in the long run. According to Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Market analyst firm, Samsung may lose as much as 5 to 7 million customers to Apple's iPhone 7 in the remainder of this year alone.

About 12 million units of the Note 7 were ordered and since each and every one of those customers will now have to opt for another smartphone, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are lucrative alternatives for them. The iPhone 7 Plus in particular will appeal to most of the ex-Note 7 customers, due to its large display, dual rear camera setup and a price tag that's quite similar to the Note 7. A portion of the remaining customers will of course stay loyal to Samsung by choosing the Galaxy S7 Edge or some other Samsung device. Other contenders for the sales gap created by the untimely death of the Note 7 are mainly the Google Pixel XL and the LG V20. We are not entirely sure about the report, but only time will tell if the Note 7 disaster is enough to make so many people change loyalties.

According to the South Korean website, Newsis, Samsung will not be releasing multiple flagship devices throughout the year in 2017, as it has been doing for many years now. Instead, they will concentrate on just one single flagship grade smartphone in the entire year. What this basically translates to is that Samsung will possibly not be releasing a Galaxy Note smartphone in 2017. The move is an obvious effect of the Galaxy Note 7 disaster which will cost the company billions of dollars. This move will ensure that a tight schedule to release multiple high-end smartphones within a very short time frame does not affect the quality of the upcoming devices from the company in any way.

As we know that the Galaxy S8 is coming early next year for sure, it would be a bit disheartening for the Note fans if the report does turn out to be true. On the other hand, this would also mean that the S8 will receive Samsung's undivided love, attention and care for an entire year. We cannot help but feel a bit excited at what the extra care and attention will bring forth with the Galaxy S8. However, could this mean that the S8 would see a delayed release so that Samsung can endow it with extra features and make sure that it's actually safe?
