Mobile phone tops the list of the most used gadgets by us every day. Right from the mail which can close a million-dollar deal to making the long distant video call, we rely on mobile phones very much. It can turn out very bad if these devices are left unprotected. There are various security apps other than antivirus apps which can help us to keep our mobile phones and the data stored in it to be safe and secure.

Some of the top security apps for Android phones are listed below:

Applock

This app is life-saver for many people. It works like the vault in banks. You can keep your photos and videos locked under it. Also, users can lock other apps such as Gmail, mobile and online casino gaming apps, internet banking apps and so on using Applock. You can use a secret PIN to access the files and apps. By this way, your mobile phone will have two layers of security. This app is available in the Google Play Store for free.

DuckDuckGo Search and Stories

In the world of internet where major conglomerates make use of the personal data of people, DuckDuckGo is a gem. This is a search engine like Google and Bing, but it does not track what you search online. If you are concerned about private companies accessing the information you surf on the internet, then DuckDuckGo is the perfect solution.

Find My Device by Google

Find My Device was earlier named as Android Device Manager. This app will help you to find your mobile phone. It can show you the location of the phone and you can also make the phone ring using this app. You can also remotely lock and erase the information stored on the phone. It does not have any ads and in-app purchases which makes it clutter free.

Firefox Focus

Firefox Focus is one of the most secure browsers out there. The app can be used to remove the advertisements and trackers to some extent ensuring more private browsing. The best part is that this app is also free.

Glass Wire

Glass Wire is one of the new best apps to track the data consumption effectively. It has the options for the players to see the data usage in terms of days, weeks, months and by individual apps. This can help the users to find any irregular activity of the apps in the background.

Resilio Sync

Resilio Sync will help you to create a safe cloud storage of your own. You can turn your PC or desktop into a cloud storage. In simple terms, it is like Google Drive. It can help the users in keeping the data under their control rather than trusting private companies.

LastPass

LastPass helps the users to save multiple sensitive passwords and restore it to the respective sites. All the passwords will be locked with a master password. This really helps if you visit a lot of sites or handle multiple accounts.

Jackpot Fruity has come up with the list of the above-mentioned non-antivirus apps which provide top security for all Android phones. Since the rate of cybercrime is increasing, security in mobile phones should be taken seriously as they contain sensitive data.

The Note 8 had received its January security patch more than a week back in most regions, but earlier in the day, reports had been coming in to confirm that Samsung has just released another security patch for its latest stylus touting flagship handset. Note that it's not the February security patch (like that would happen on the first day of the month anyway!), but all that the changelog states is "Improved Security." SamMobile reports that so far, the update has only been rolled out in Brazil and France, but that doesn't necessarily mean your Note 8 won't getting this same update if you happen to be in some other location. Let us know if you do.

Firmware version of the unexpected update is N950FXXU3BRA8 and just as the source suggests, this security patch will probably protect the Galaxy Note 8 against the infamous Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities. Whatever the reason for this sudden security measure is, do download and install it as soon as it becomes available for your device because this seems quite urgent.

Head over to our firmware section to find all the latest available updates for your Samsung smartphones and tablets.

The rear camera and the fingerprint scanner which will be accompanying the Galaxy S9 has been revealed online a few hours ago, confirming the rumor that the Galaxy S9 will indeed be sporting just one camera at its unworthy back... The dual cameras will be reserved for the more premium Galaxy S9+. Now the question is, can you really blame anyone anymore when they blame Samsung for following in the footsteps of Apple? One would think that they would do the consumers a favor and endow both the devices with similar specs like every year, but that is not going to happen anymore it seems.

The Fingerprint scanner doesn't reveal much except the fact which we all knew anyway; Samsun has not yet been able to perfect their under-the-display fingerprint scanner. Let's just hope that like all the rumors suggest, Samsung at least decides to put the fingerprint scanner at a better location than they did last year with the Galaxy S8, S8+ and the Note 8.

Earlier reports had suggested that the Korean giant was entering the field of cryptocurrency with dedicated mining machines and today, that news has been confirmed. A Samsung spokesperson told TechCrunch that the company's foundry business is concentrating on building chips for mining cryptocurrencies specifically. However, the representative was also very secretive about the whole thing and declined to comment any further on the matter. It looks like all those rumors about Samsung making application-specific integrated circuit chips (ASIC) for dedicated mining machines were indeed true.

The decision isn't really surprising, given how popular a business cryptocurrency mining has become nowadays. In fact, it's one of the main reasons as to why graphics card prices have soared sky-high and even when you are willing to pay that price, it's hard to find one! ASIC chips on the other hand are the future of mining bitcoins. They are more efficient in mining than gaming GPUs simply because they are built specifically for one purpose, which is to compute hashes. Given that the ASIC-powered mining rigs are also more power-efficient than a multi-GPU unit, Samsung has a chance to shape the future of cryptocurrency mining here.
