We know the specifications which the Galaxy Note 8 will be sporting this year, or at least most of it anyway. Nevertheless, until and unless we see it all officially on August 23, everything is still just rumors and leaks. Today's leak is brought to us by GFXBench after the Note 8 went on the website for a spin. Check them out in the screenshot above.

The 6GB of RAM, Exynos 8895 SoC, Mali-G71 GPU, 64GB internal storage, dual rear cameras, etc. sits in perfectly with what we had heard and seen so far. However, it was surprising to see that the Note 8 will be sporting a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED QHD+ display instead of the rumored 6.3-inch one. The difference is almost negligible, but it's worth noting nonetheless.

Rumor has it that a new version of the Gear Fit Pro (2) will also be revealed at the NYC exclusive event on the 23rd, but not much else is known about it, including the likely price of the fitness band. On the other hand, a lot of people are waiting impatiently to see how high Samsung prices the Galaxy Note 8, which is expected to be as high as $1200 or more.

Samsung has just released the first official teaser video for the Galaxy Note 8 and you can check it out above or directly at YouTube if you wish. It isn't the most revealing teaser we have ever seen from Samsung, but it's a good reminder that the first Note device after 2015, that you will (hopefully) be able to buy without worrying about it exploding on you is about to come into limelight in less than ten days from now. In case you didn't know already, Samsung will be unveiling the Note 8 at a Samsung exclusive even in NYC on August 23.

If you have been following us (which you most definitely should), then you already know what the Galaxy Note 8 will look like, if not, then take a look at some of the leaked live images here. The internals are no secret either with them being different from the Galaxy S8+ only in terms of the rear camera (the Note 8 will sport dual cameras), perhaps the RAM and of course, the famous S-Pen. What will be interesting to see at the event is the price at which Samsung decides to launch the Note 8 in the US. We have heard that it could cross the $1,200 mark in some countries like India! We will find out soon enough.

Although the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are usually the first ones to receive the latest security patches from Samsung, they were beaten to the August security patch by the Galaxy J7 Prime this month. Nevertheless, the two flagship handsets have now started to receive the August SMR from the OEM yesterday. As of now, SamMobile Reports that only UAE, Turkey and Germany are receiving the update, but it's only a matter of days before Samsung's respective departments in every other region also starts sending out the same update via OTA to the S8 and S8 Plus.

The August patch is a really heavy one at 600.35 MB, so you better fire up your Wi-Fi before downloading this one. You can check out the firmware version and other change details in the screenshot above if you want. Just like all other security patches from Samsung, this one also has 12 of Samsung's own fixes and patches for its own overlaying UI, in addition to the 28 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures present in the base Android OS.

It seems just yesterday that we were all excited about the name which Google would be giving to Android N 7.0, and now it's almost time for Android O 8.0 to be named now! According to reliable sources in the industry, Google will be declaring the name of the next iteration of the Android OS on August 21, although it has probably already been decided. Nevertheless, that will be the date on which that name will be made public and we will finally get to know if Oreo is indeed what Google has decided to go with this year. If you have any guesses, let us know in the comments.

On the other hand, the final version of the OS has been delayed from release for at least a few weeks now. If you are wondering what the reason is for the delay, we have no information on that and neither does anyone else. Nevertheless, it isn't hard to guess that the OS must need some last second ironing. Even then, the delay shouldn't push the release back further than mid-September.

A lot of people are waiting for Android 7.0 Nougat to arrive on their Galaxy C-series smartphones and although we don't have the dates yet, thankfully, that date doesn't seem to be too far away now. The Galaxy C5, Galaxy C7 and the Galaxy C9 Pro have just been seen testing the Android 7.0 powered firmware in China, according to leakster @mmddj_china on Twitter. Although all it means is that the Chinese firmware is on the verge of being ready, we are guessing that all regions where Samsung has released the three smartphones should also see the upgrade package by the end of September, if not sooner.

Experts seem to think that in regions other than China, the C-series may or may not get the OTA update as Samsung has made such choices before as well, when it comes to its non-flagship smartphones. However, if the recent patterns are anything to go by, we think that this won't be the case this time around. However, we are not ruling out a superlate update in any case!
