After years of speculations, we finally have something official to speak about the topic. During the press conference in Korea where the Galaxy Note 8 was launched a few days ago, President of Samsung Mobiles, DJ Koh went on and said the following lines.

"We have a plan to adopt a foldable display in our roadmap. We are currently addressing some technological hurdles to commercialize such a device. We will launch a foldable device when we are fully ready, and we are aiming to do so next year..."

Granted, it's only a plan according to the statement, but it isn't very unlikely that this plan will finally come into fruition in 2018. The reason I think so is because he said it out loud in a press conference. Would the President of Samsung Mobiles have declared it to the press if it wasn't all but confirmed? That would be unwise and the CEO of Samsung Mobiles is not unwise! The question is, will Samsung be launching a new line of handsets with foldable displays or will they just incorporate it into their existing flagship lineups? What do you think?

This is not a second hand account but something that happened to me just a few hours ago! I was working on a post for YouMobile on my computer when I started to smell something burning very close to me. As I looked around for the source, I saw a barely visible trail of smoke coming out of my Galaxy S8, which was being quick-charged at that point. You can imagine my surprise and horror when I tried to take out the smartphone and felt that the bottom of the phone was smoldering hot to the touch. I switched off the charger, disconnected my phone from it and waited for a few minutes to see if it would cool down. While the tiny trail of smoke had disappeared as soon as I disconnected the charger, the phone remained hot as coal and it smelled like it was still burning inside, until I switched it off completely.

Now, on calling Samsung care, they arranged a pickup for me immediately. I am now waiting for them to pick the phone up from my home in the morning. At this point, I am just shocked at the fact that I am probably the only person in the entire world right now to have experienced such an issue with a Galaxy S8. I have since searched the internet quite a bit , but there has been no account of such problems with the Galaxy S8 or the S8+ anywhere so far to the best of my knowledge. This leaves me wondering, is this the beginning of another Samsung disaster? Or am I just the world's most unlucky person!

After much speculation, Samsung's first mid-range smartphone with a rear mounted dual camera setup is now official. If you want, you are free to take a look at the official page on Samsung's Thai website which lists all the details about the J7+. In case you are not aware, then know that the Galaxy J7+ is the only smartphone in Samsung's arsenal to sport a dual rear camera, other than the Galaxy Note 8. Check out the specs below.

5.5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display (2.5D protective glass)

Octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 processor

4GB RAM

32GB internal storage with expandable memory card slot

13-megapixel sensor with f/1.7 aperture + 5-megapixel sensor with f/1.9 aperture

16-megapixel front cam

3,000 mAh non-removable battery

dual-SIM card slot, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, USB Type-C port, fingerprint sensor, Always-On Display, Face Detection, Secure Folder, Dual Messenger, and Bixby Home

Black, Pink, and Silver color options

THB 12,900/$390

Samsung U Flex wireless earphones free with Pre-order

As you can see, the specs are not exactly flagship, but quite decent for a mid-range Samsung device. Nevertheless, you will probably find phones such as the OnePlus 5 to be a better bargain at a slightly higher price.

No it's not a typo and yes, the price will indeed come to around a million when the Note 8 is released in South Korea. However, that's one million Korean Won and not dollars (thankfully!). How much does that amount to in dollars? Well, close to around $890, which is actually cheaper than the price of its unlocked version in the US, which is currently set at $930! Although it's not exactly a million dollars, paying nearly a thousand dollars for a smartphone which will become outdated in a few months' time does seem quite expensive. Nevertheless, that doesn't seem to stop Samsung from expecting superb sales numbers all across the globe. Then again, they are probably right and a whole lot of people will be paying that price happily for the Galaxy Note 8.

If you ask me though, I may tell you to buy the cheaper Galaxy S8+ instead. Sure, it has 2GB of RAM less than the Note 8 and it certainly doesn't have a stylus, but most of us will likely never really need the 6GB RAM or the stylus. Don't misunderstand me! The stylus is great for the creative and artistic ones among us, but if you are not, then what exactly are you going to do with it anyway? The dual camera makes a strong point though because it does indeed have some advantages over the S8+'s camera, however, the S8 and the S8+ also sport amazing imaging capabilities. It's up to you, but do take a hard look at your options before making the commitment.

In a brand new rumor, it is being stated that the Galaxy S9 will see release much earlier than its predecessor, the Galaxy S8. The report comes from The Bell and it states that this will happen because Samsung will likely get hold of all the OLED panels it needs by November 2017. Naturally, this will speed up the production process for the company, enabling them to release the Galaxy S9 as early as January 2018.

If you ask me though, that isn't very likely. That is not to say that Samsung can't do that if they wanted to, it's just that it would be a very strange move with virtually no business sense in it whatsoever. The Note 8 will be released to the public next month and if the Galaxy S9 was released in just four months' time after that, it would not be a very strategic release date. We would bet our money on Samsung sticking to its April - May timeline just like this year. Nevertheless, it is good news that Samsung will have everything ready by January because that means the OEM will have even more time to perfect the Galaxy S9 and its rumored modular design.
